  1. I have quite a few samples from RusticEscentuals but have only tested those that smell good to me out of the bottle. Someday, I will get to more. In the meantime, I just keep ordering more samples. Ha! I've been successful selling: Celtic Moonspice, Amish Quilt, Christmas Bliss, Pumpkin Creme Brulee, MacApple, Toasted Marshmallow. Love Butter Rum Cappuccino but haven't been able to get a good hot throw. Cornbread smells great burning but doesn't smell good in the jar so customers don't buy it. Kind of liked Santas Whiskers when I tested it, last year, so may add that to my "line" this year. My "line" is pretty small. Keep in mind, I have not tested similar fragrances from other companies. There could be some better Macs, Amish, etc.; I just haven't had time to order/test them. Still, after 4 years, just getting started. People on this forum are fantastic for sharing their favorites which gives us newbies a good place to start. Goldie
  2. Thanks so much for responding. You may be right as RE warns about discoloration. I will contact them and see what they say as they have been helpful in the past when I had a problem with one fragrance not throwing. Goldie
  3. I melt my soy wax in a roaster now. I use to put wax in a metal pitcher then put that it a Presto pot of water. One day noticed wax in the water but took me a couple batches to realize the metal pot had developed holes in the side and water was getting into my wax. Had to empty all those jars, throw away the wax. Rustic Escentuals Apple/Pumpkin Strudel smells amazing! I call it "apple streudel" because I smell the apple more than pumpkin. Goldie
  4. Ha! So you don't think there is something wrong with it? I remember having one candle that had a burnt smell toward the bottom. Could this be an indication of that happening? I'm trying to avoid burning one of my candles cured and ready for sale as I don't make many at a time. I have no problem covering it up with a label, though. Goldie
  5. I'm seeing a brown ring around the wick tab in two jars that just finished a 2-week cure. Do you know what this is from? I stir my oil/soy for 3 minutes so don't think it is from oil not getting incorporated into the wax. The only time I ever noticed this before was when water was getting into my wax. I know this is not happening as I no longer melt in a water bath. Maybe this is normal. Please let this be normal. lol Using 464, Premier wicks, Apple/Pumpkin Strudel RE Oil Goldie
  6. I've never tried it, but Rustic Escentuals has a "Glazed Doughnut" fragrance. They have their $1 sample sale going on right now. Goldie
  7. Sounds good to me! Wish we lived closer. Goldie
  8. Well certainly bored! I love how you use your porch to display things you love. It looks so comfortable and inviting. Of course your crystal candles are always eye candy for me. Goldie
  9. This is their annual scent sale: All 1 ounce fragrance oils are $1 each. "Rustic Escentuals There will be - 1 per fragrance oil. You can order as many fragrances as you want as long as there is no more than 1 of any particular fragrance." (Found that on FB) Goldie
  10. I'd love to hear about your favorites even though you haven't gotten them into a candle, tart, or soap. Goldie
  11. RE (RusticEscentuals) will be having their annual sale August 11-17. They have a slew of new fall fragrances out as well so would be a good idea to check those out before placing an order. They had new scents at Christmas as well as spring too. Goldie
  12. If you are using a fragrance oil suggested on this forum as having a good hot throw with 464, you may have to change your wick size. What wick are you using? And container? Goldie
  13. Are you saying after burning for 3-4 hours the candle is 3/4 gone? Goldie
  14. Contact your State Department of Revenue for a Sales Tax Permit. Generally your State's Revenue Dept. has a link on its website to guide you to the proper form to submit as well as contact information to talk directly to someone. Goldie
  15. I would think leaving a positive review would give competitors information you don't want to share, not a negative one. And as someone else mentioned, names would not have to be included in reviews. Interesting what it states on their website, jfear. Goldie
  16. Someone on this forum said to fill just to the point where the jar starts to curve but not into the curve. (Not exact wording.) I use Ball pint jars which I put on the scale, tare, then fill with about 11.8 ounces . I do not subtract anything for the wick in the jar. Customers, around here at least, are more interested in how long a candle burns as opposed to how many ounces of wax are in the jar. The amount of fragrance oil used is adjusted because you multiply the wax weight by the percentage. Wax weight changes, but not the percentage. Does that make sense? Goldie
  17. Why didn't I think of that??? Sheesh! I will make some tarts. Do a little testing with different wicks when I get a chance. Thanks! Goldie
  18. I have not been able to get AromaHaven's Butter Rum Cappuccino to throw well. I LOVE the scent as well! Are you using soy? I'm using 464 with Premier 790 or 785 wicks, in the 5 1/4" tall pint jars. Goldie
  19. Do you use the same amount EO as FO? Goldie
  20. I want to test wicks in flowerpot votive holders. Do I have to wait two weeks before lighting them in order to get accurate results? I'm using FOs that have worked for me in 464 using FOs (pint jars). Goldie
  21. It was just the ball that fell out, not the part that goes into the bottle top. Goldie
  22. For me, 415 or 464 didn't work as well for melts because I sell them out of larger jars and the soft wax would smear up the jars. So I switched to a combination I read about on this forum: Half EcoSoya CB-Xcel and half EcoSoya Pillar Blend. I use silicone molds from RusticEscentuals. The metls pop out perfectly. Goldie
