  1. How did the RusticEscentuals pineapple/brownsugar throw? I still haven't tested it. Goldie
  2. The EO company I work with has grown so fast that it hasn't been able to keep up with demand. So they started limiting buying to one bottle/month of certain oils, stopped offering 15ml bottles with the 5ml bottle prices going up, and are often out of product. In the meantime, they are planting more fields/trees to keep up with demand. The good thing about this company is its products remain 100% pure. Goldie
  3. I use pint Ball jars and pour up to the curve, not into the neck. You end up with approx. 12 ounces of candle. There is a thread somewhere on this forum about how a candle burns regarding this just can't remember where I found it. I tested some of the half-pint jars because they are adorable. You get down to the bottom fast and there is a lot of unmelted wax left as the wick gets consumed to the tab. Not a very clear description. Goldie
  4. Are there ANY other fees or obligations other than the 2.75%/swipe? I keep trying to find information on this as merchants using other readers seem to get surprises for this, that, and the other thing. Like if they don't have enough sales in a month, they are charged a fee. Goldie
  5. Does this mean a customer with a credit card that has a chip cannot use the Square magstrip reader? Goldie
  6. Wow! Thanks so much for the info and pictures. Very thorough. Goldie
  7. Thanks so much for the pictures and sharing how fall sales are going. The booth looks FANTASTIC. Beautiful mugs; what a great idea! Goldie
  8. I know nothing about soapmaking so when I saw the picture I thought "oh, she pops those pearls off after the soap cures". Looks great to me! Goldie
  9. Well that is interesting. I will need to test mine when it gets to the hottest point. Thanks! Goldie
  10. Thanks! I did a little Googling and only saw the temp in the middle of the flame--1000°C (1830°F). lol Goldie
  11. Man, oh man, that would mean we can't spray jars with 2X and sell as candles! I have never had any kind of a problem burning my painted jar candles even when left for nine hours to burn. But I worry about customers suing as others have said. Goldie
  12. That was DaisyMae, but I will keep that in mind if I buy a bottle. Goldie
  13. If the answer isn't on the can, I would contact Krylon directly. Most manufacturers I've gone to directly have been helpful and gotten back to me quickly. I see Rustoleum offers "For added protection and durability, top coat with Chalked Matte Clear Spray". Doesn't answer the question about toxic fumes, I know. Goldie
  14. LOL Me too, but then I'm old. Love ya both! Goldie
  15. I buy my round labels from Onlinelabels. They offer templates for different programs as well as specific margins, horitzontall/vertical settings which helps cut down on guessing at least for me. Not sure what Avery provides as they didn't have the size I needed. KrazeKelly, I too buy the full sheet label and have a hole punch for 1" labels which I use for pricing stickers. Goldie
  16. There are templates you can download for the exact label you are using. Even with that, I always print on plain paper first, hold the labels up to the light with the printed sheet in front or behind, then adjust the margins or columns. Retest. . . Takes a few tries but at least I'm not wasting the labels. Once you get a template set up with the correct placement, you can use that for all your labels of that size. I've started making my own warning labels so I can include the fragrance, weight, and company name as well as all the usual warnings. Since I use Ball or Mason jars, there is no smooth surface to put a label other than the bottom of the jar. So this works for me. Goldie
  17. I paint all my pint canning jars with satin 2X paint but have never felt the need to spray a clear coat over the paint. Once I sand them, the shine goes away (no matte spray paint). I've rewashed these jars a number of times with nothing coming off. Never smelled anything as the jar heated up while the candle was lit. Now, chalk paint could be a different animal. Why do you want to spray a clear spray over the jar? Have you tested wicks for that tall of a jar? Just wondering how hot it gets as it burns. They look fantastic, by the way. Goldie
  18. I have a more expensive cutter (Black Cat Technologies) and do use it for a few labels. But, for me, it is just as easy to buy labels that are the exact size circle I need and just print and peel. Goldie
  19. I use the stickums and, only recently, had a few that didn't stick but that was right away before pouring wax. I don't wash my brand-new jars but may need to at least wipe the inside bottom before using the stickum as it seemed to happen with one box of jars. Goldie
  20. If you have never gotten a good hot throw, I would start testing different wicks. With some oils, I have had to go up in size quite a bit to get a good hot throw. My candles are all made in pint canning jars, 464, Premier wicks. Goldie
  21. I think you have gotten a pretty consistent response to the original question, haven't you? Goldie
  22. Somewhere, I've gotten the idea that soy isn't going to have the strong throw that other waxes do such as the paraffin wax in Yankee's candles. Anyone, feel free to correct me. Goldie
  23. Is there a reason you are not using the wick stickers? Goldie
