  1. I had a couple of plastic roller balls fall out of the bottles depending on the essential oil. I wonder if they found an answer for this when switching back as an entire bottle of oil could be lost. Goldie
  2. Do you all test to see which scents work together, test melt the chuck, reformulate, test again, etc.? And as they melt, can you detect each of those blends? They are all so beautiful. Goldie
  3. So a customer would buy the loaf and then cut off pieces as needed? This really looks delicious! lol Goldie
  4. WOW! They all look great! Are those all separate chunks in the loaf pan or an entire loaf? Goldie
  5. I never really look at flashpoint. Pretty sure they are all around 200. Goldie
  6. I use 464. As soon as my wax reaches 185, I take it off the heat, and add my FO. So it may be a tad cooler than 185, but my aim is 185. Goldie
  7. People with much more experience than me will have a better idea about this, but I wondered what soy you are using. 464 can be poured at a higher temp than, say, 415. Some use a hot plate with tempered glass coffeepot to keep wax at 185 until ready to pour. Possibly could use the stainless pot as well. You definitely need to figure out where to set controls to keep wax at the right temp so it doesn't get too hot. Still don't think this would be a time saver for 100 candles. Goldie
  8. The Iced Lemon Biscotti fills the house with the most wonderful scent. Love, love, love! Nutmeg ginger is also a winner for me as is Christmas tree. I'm using 464 soy, pint canning jars, and Premier 790 wicks. I don't like florals so didn't care for the Daffodil when testing a cured candle. Goldie
  9. I've calculated shipping of 50 lbs. 464 wax from a number of companies and find that Nature's Garden (Ohio) is the cheapest, for me, at $20.87. NG is in another postal zone, 600 miles away from me. Another company in my state and 160 miles away, is about the same, $21.00. So not sure how USPS or UPS comes up with their rates. If I am ordering oils from a company that sells 464, I double check to see how much shipping will be if I add a box of wax to the order. Sometimes that works out to be a better deal. Goldie
  10. I drilled a hole in a wood paint stick to use in a similar fashion. Also, my digital thermometer has an alarm that goes off when the wax reaches a preset temp. I set it at 183 or so as an alert that the wax is near 185. I get busy trying to do too many things at once and needed something other than the candy thermometers. More expensive but worth not having to throw out wax which I have had to do in the past. Goldie
  11. Siren12, Hobnail jars would really be cool! Goldie
  12. I always worry that such containers might not be safe to burn a candle in. Although I would think if they are sold for candlemaking, they would be safe. Goldie
  13. I noticed it in Pumpkin Creme Brulee from RusticEscentuals. It is a pretty strong/heavy FO. Goldie
  14. For me, this is the first time I've noticed it. I will have to pay more attention from now on. These were from Aztec. Goldie
  15. FB157 noticed it at about the halfway mark and then again at the bottom. I only noticed it at the bottom. Then again, I'm not in that part of the house all the time it burns. Good to hear you haven't had this happen. Goldie
  16. Athough FB157 brought this topic up in another thread, I thought I would start a new thread about it. I went in search of other posts regarding a burnt smell using Premier wicks and found one from 2006: Until yesterday, I had never noticed a burnt smell; but it was really bad. It was at the very bottom of the jar. Didn't think much about it until I read FB157's post. Anyone else who uses Premiers ever noticed this? I was using Pumpkin Creme Brulee from RusticEscentuals. Goldie
  17. I would check the "Fragrance" forum and type in "favorite" or something similar to see more current discussions. For example, check this thread. Many suggestions including company names.
  18. Well, I am definitely going to start checking more often for that. Hate to start over looking for the proper wick but don't want to disappoint customers. Thanks! Goldie
  19. Funny that you should say this. I just noticed a bad burnt smell, yesterday, as one of my candles got to the very bottom of the jar. I was cleaning the oven at the time and thought it was from that. But stuck my nose in the candle and knew it was the candle. Wonder what that is about! Never had that happen before. Goldie
  20. My prices reflect approximately $1/ounce of wax. So a pint jar which holds 11 ounces sells for $12.50. Tarts which are a bit over an ounce sell for $1. I only sell retail. GoldieMN
  21. Not sure how big the square Mason is, but I use 464 in pint Ball jars, 6-7% FO, and 785 or 790 Premier wicks. I had to go up with my wick size to get a good hot throw with some oils. Now I just test with these two sizes and decide to add the fragrance or not to my line. Even now, I will get a fragrance oil from a good company that doesn't throw well for me. As others have said, I just move on and try the next sample. I actually switched from 415 to 464. I think it was to get a better hot throw; can't remember now. FB157, you must have the patience of Job. I can wait two weeks to cure testers but no more. Goldie
  22. These are GORGEOUS! Thanks so much for the information. Goldie
