  1. I'm so confused... I have the C & S slab one and the description is coconut blended with soy I thought the northwoods was identical to calwax ughhh this is giving me a migraine which one in your opinion is the best overall performer? I do not want to try northwoods because I thought I read somewhere in here it had paraffin in it and the new coco 83 beads at C & S is brand new and I have a case of the old slab to use up first 😂
  2. Soy needs a hotter wick than paraffin or parasoy and often needs wicking up but the changes in soy are proving you need to wick down a CD18 I wouldn't touch in soy let alone parasoy or paraffin unless the container was ginormous...and I mean like over 5" diameter I still feel you should try wicking down with the changes in the soy that's in your wax and paraffin in general being easier to wick @Flicker I get my CD wicks at candlewic but used to get them many places and they all burned pretty much the same...only difference would be the tab height or the coating more flimsy on NG I would love to see one of your pint containers Burning with the 18 in it- I am baffled you haven't had glass blowing up your house 😂 Are you using a wide mouth or regular mouth pint jar?
  3. Not Flicker but CD is a very hot burning wick and your using parasoy which is easier to burn than straight soy 3" diameter jar in straight soy a 10 can be too hot for me so my opinion is definitely try wicking down to a 8 and even a 7 or try the CDN series in a 7-8-10- they burn a little cooler with soy because the coating is different but are CD wicks as well you can get them at southwest candle supply with the paraffin in there you may want to try other series as well
  4. I think there are many successful thriving business that make paraffin candles - the key is to make an exceptional paraffin product that burns good without the black smokestack and smells great cold and hot All wax is going to soot, just some more than others Myself I prefer the veggies - I play around with parasoy and I'm getting to like it more and more but I wouldn't hesitate to buy an excellent paraffin candle - Mccalls I have few of and I Love them
  5. The safest way to secure your wick is permatex gasket sealer- red I had always use stickums as well for years and never had a problem but hearing if the problems you can encounter I went the permatex route still use stickums for tester jars for my use and tealights but not containers for resale- nothing will make those come loose
  6. I have asked this before but don't remember how exactly do you make these? I have dozens upon dozens of tester candles I don't like and need to chunk out the wax to pour more in the containers if I melt all this wax together rather than throw it out - what do I do....pour it over a bunch of like pinecones and twigs or like horse bedding and how do you start these and do they really start a fire rather than needing the diesel fuel 😂 We are bringing home our huge cauldron fire pot tomorrow and want to try this concept out
  7. I have found Soy needs to cure in melts the longer they sit the better they throw you can get throw after a day or two but like a fine wine it's better aged I tried a new pillar wax and almost ditched it because I wasn't impressed after a couple days - threw another in warmer weeks later and my eyes are watering
  8. Hi Jadore welcome! One of the characteristics of soy wax in general is that it does frost, even if you don't see it at first it can develop over time while it sits and cures you can manage it some in heating and pour temps and using additives which soy are you using and what your method of pouring?
  9. I have to call her today and see what works best for her - I usually try for Tuesdays so long as she doesn't have a doctors appointment I will PM you later today!
  10. Moonstar I have a crap load of millineum you can have to play with - just let me know I will be going next week to visit my grandma and she is in your area have you put one of the pillar votive melts in the warmer yet? I have only done 1 Scent so far and cold and hot throw are very very good pouring more tonight and while I am at it I'm going to make some dreaded votives with it and see how they do.....I despise making votives 😂
  11. It kinda of sounds like CS mistletoe could fit the bill for that Scent 🤷‍♀️ I have never used a balsam and berry before mistletoe has berry and pine and a super thrower in soy
  12. If EZ soy is the same as 415 my guess would be yes expect it to be different you will need to wick down possibly resulting in loss of HT or find additives to harden and slow the burn which could also result in loss of HT let us know how it goes it doesn't mean much but I would rather deal with working through these issues than ecosoya users....that sounds like a nightmare
  13. Peak - Alan has nothing to do with this forum anymore - if he had it would of went bye bye when he closed his doors I guarantee it This has been under new ownership for some time now by TallTayl
  14. No it's not going extinct it's in great hands and totally safe
  15. I have Been using these Silicone & Nylon Stir Sticks - Set of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JZ7ZNEM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_s8a8zb4H57SPR they are so easy to clean and stir it up good with no added air
  16. Yes moonworks just up and quit and I had just started getting a great following with many of their oils pure fragrance oils owns the codes to most but she wouldn't sell all of them if I remember correctly when PFO got them they had to do pre-buys in order to stock and only a couple of fragrances at a time ....well in the meantime before anyone knew this fragrance buddy was duping many of them - I myself sent in a ton to them and they sent me the results and they were pretty spot on - I use a handful still from fragrance buddy because they are so similar, lacking some depth but so much easier to wick and I already went through the testing PFO now has many in stock regularly and they are the originals - great company great oils
  17. I feel so bad for keystone if this is the case and I will NOT be giving a dime to anything related to Alan, Nachelle or whatever her name is and Peak candle supply- The whole thing started out nasty and ugly to the public and now this.... There are way too many good fragrances out there to be discovered and yes they can ALL be replaced, I went through this with Moonworks and I will get through this
  18. https://peakfragrances.com/blogs/news/looks-like-we-are-off-to-a-start Are you flipping kidding me??? Dated October 23rd, as in yesterday.... He has alot of explaining to do He is selling again after supposedly "selling" to Keystone- What a rotton no good SOB, this sounds so crooked and not right to me unless I am missing something and Alan is starting completely over with new fragrances, new company Does anyone know keystones stand on this and did they actually get the codes or just the leftover inventory?
  19. Not all soy candles are created equal, there are so many variables involved and different types of soy wax not to mention many claim all soy but could be adding a small percentage of paraffin or other veggie waxes I purchase many other people's candles year after year to compare and throw varies from non existent to pretty darn good - in general soy does need to cure for optimal results but fragrance oils play a huge role as well- I have some that will throw immediately and others that need to sit for a week once you learn your wax and get your system down you will know when they are ready for sale for the best results possible Mine used to only take 3-5 days cure and were perfecto and over time as they sit longer they are even better
  20. This was before the changes in soy but I have confidence in getting it back, I am making good progress and have other blends in the works as well 😉
  21. Tonic is a super clean dry scent super strong in soy and again easy to wick
  22. Do you use any additives with 415? I have been having success so far keeping my normal wicking hardening the wax up to slow the burn - haven't tested them all yet, that's going to take FOREVER
  23. I NEED 4-5 amber for sure and I think I need more dragons blood and Egyptian dragon
  24. Fabulous in soy candles - it's not overpowering, pleasantly fills a room and easy to wick....415
