  1. The best place for CDN wicks is southwest candle supply- they have many sizes to choose from candle cocoon has them as well but not as much variety
  2. I told the person I was emailing with to come on this board and read all issues and complaints - I am still going back and forth with them by email I was told some of the people there have small candle and bath and body business and... no issues for them 🤷‍♀️ But she understands how frustrating that could be I just wish that they could be honest and own it or find useful information for us, you can read the very careful wording with the promise of looking into it but I was promised this back in the summer when I realized something was terrible wrong with the wax and got nothing we can't all be crazy and imagining this- right They have been a great supplier for me, I'm just not liking how this is all being swept under the rug
  3. Really?? Because I am supposedly the only one complaining about soy wax to them 🙃 I have an ongoing email with them regarding all of this with the soy and fragrances being affected by the fire, their shipping costs due to not having product in both warehouses....apparently I am the only one concerned, they say although they appreciate my persistence and involvement in this...soy wax has NOT changed they have no reason to believe aaksoy/GB wouldn't be upfront with any reformulations and ecosoya waxes are the only ones affected by the FDA regulations on soy- now I am arguing how they can even say that when my wax - 415- is food grade soy and ALL food grade soy has had to have transfats removed from my understandsing, I asked them if they have even tested any of the soy waxes to see for themselves they are not the same and I have a hundred failed testers as proof if they would like them- this is not a minor typical soy encounter, this wax is completely not behaving typical at all then it comes out they had a moisture issue with their equipment but this is definitely beyond moisture Their reply to the fragrances was the same to me - they will not be affected other than the few they have been working on removing phthalates....now how is it a couple suppliers have stepped up to the plate and announced they may be out of stock on some FO due to the fire when they run out and yet other suppliers (CS) claim it will not have any impact on them 🤔 My advice - take it with a grain of salt and test every one you buy to be sure and if it's not the same - raise an earthquake I am being told they are going to look into the soy more but 🤷‍♀️ Been told that before as well 🙄 I do have to say she was very nice and seemed to understand my frustration but first time around they were also nice and seemed concerned and yet... people are still being told no complaints sad because I really used them for many things but I'm not sure I can anymore, a news article of some sort of issues coming up from customers would be great PR for them - we will see if they do it now or continue to wear blinders
  4. I thought it was you....so prime example people have reactions to different waxes which makes me stand firm in my belief ingredients should be listed on candles just like they are and bath and body 😉 The mighty dollar isn't worth putting someone in misery because of "creative" labeling trying to sell a product
  5. Very interesting the Ribbon wick is working for you- they don't do well on soy for me so far RRD 47 or 50 will probably be needed- I like the RRD with bees but it's a tricky balancing act because they can mushroom and soot like no other if too big thanks for sharing the info - I am done and over the beads though- I agree with TT that alone it has awesome throw and burn when wicked correctly but I can't see past the soot to continue I prefer the coco slabs from c & s but it has its issues as well - I'm back to soy 😂
  6. Belinda what is bio identical hormones? last year I developed this rash all around my mouth and thought it was makeup I was using - went to a couple dermatologist and the steroid creams made it worse and it was to the point they were going to patch test me for ingredient allergies during this time is when all heck broke loose with my cycles and hot flashes and feeling of passing out so I had to my ob/gyn and he did hormone testing on me in a nut shell my estrogen levels were through the roof and my progesterone non existent- he wanted me to do the lab made progesterone cream on my arms and have the blood work re-done well my mom and my aunt both had breast cancer - both were estrogen based cancer and my sister was going through similar things and was told not to touch any hormones at all based off the family history of cancer so of course I freaked and never did the cream and never went back to the doctor but in thinking about it - if my estrogen levels are too high and I'm having a cycles from hell twice a month I am probably more at risk of breast cancer now then taking progesterone....I do need to bring my levels down I'm thinking but once I told the dermatologist this he said the rash absolutely could be hormone related and it did Go away so I haven't really thought about again until now tell me more about this ....I am going to make a appointment with my gyn again and get to the bottom of this - I'm terrified of meds and hormones but I am thinking I'm a walking time bomb right now I had to have a 3D Mammo a couple months ago because the tissue changed so much from last year so now I am flipping out 😳
  7. Well that's what I call good PR glad they are informing and keeping customers updated about it! now if we could Get that list of the some they may run out of stock on.... 😂
  8. Yep my BA 444 is different from candlewics i am having to wick up the candlewics hopefully the additive keeps it somehat consistent as I do like the wax so far I used USA in 415 and I do not think that is what is added in the 444- the 444 is rock hard ....but maybe it's just a higher percentage of USA the soy modifier from American soy seems to be a closer match of what's in the 444
  9. Here is the second burn hour 1 and 2 I can't find hour 3 and hope I didn't delete it This my first time doing pan tests and documenting it so bear with me I usually just use jars and go with what works in the second round of testing
  10. I didn't take the measurements until the end of the third burn hour 3....next time around I will remember to do that the eco is doing great and you are right the RRD didn't seem to consume as much I will post the second and third burns with the end results and measurements shortly
  11. Pictures of the first burn after hours 1-2 and 3 You can see the RRD is already starting to mushroom
  12. 444 is a soy wax with 2% soy based additive and manufactured by AAK soy / Golden Brands I did a square pan test with this wax with zero additives or fragrance to see which wicks would perform best and based the sizes off my jar from what has worked in the past with other waxes I use the 8 ounce square Mason mainly and this test is based off that going a little bigger in size seeing 444 is a very hard soy wax when set 444 is in flake form with a melt point of 119-125 (not sure why there is a range on this one) It has a slightly greasy feel to it, not hard and crunchy like other flake soys and little to no odor dry when melting I didn't notice any "greasy" smell but I didn't let the temp get up very high risking discoloration and odor I heated until just melted which was around 160- I then let it cool to 105 and poured - biggest lesson learned here was not to use aluminum pans for this as the wick tabs would not stick when the wax was poured, next round I will use a "real" pan So here is a picture of the pan after cure for 5 days - I chose wick series I have here and have used often
  13. Even pouring to almost slush? I haven't come across this yet in tins or Mason jars - I pour at 100-105 in warm containers just when it starts to cloud - now when I pour when it's cloudy I get a crystalized top- some tops are "wavy" and others are baby but smooth....this is finicky soy wax to pour - like TT stated I wonder what that additive is, I have found it's soy based additives but the only ones I know of are USA and I used to use it all the time with 415 and my tops were more consistent than 444
  14. @Candybee didn't you say soy wax gives you irritations? Someone on here I read at one time said it did
  15. I was referring to allergens to paraffin, not the fragrance themselves One of my sisters gets itchy watery eyes and runny nose when burning paraffin- I recently sent her some melts with straight soy which she never had a problem with and then I sent her some in the same scent with coconut and beeswax and a parasoy---- the parasoy made her react and she did to the coconut beeswax a little also but not the soy You cant control what people are sensitive to I understand but its always been my business practice to lay it all out there so people know what they are getting- the product sells itself so long as they are not allergic soy blend is stating it contains something else so yes people use it but I dont agree with it but I just one small little person in this world
  16. You need to slow your roll there buddy and show a little respect- Being a complete Potty mouth and basically screaming at one of the most educated, successful and experienced chandlers on this forum is not only rude but making you look like a kindergarten brat! You are totally STUCK on wanting a 8 ounce candle so here is some new advice.... Go buy a BIGGER jar and fill it to 8 ounces and BOOM- you got your 8 ounce candle not filled to high to your liking If your wanting to use that jar you are not going to be able to sell a 8 ounce candle in it- 7 to maybe 7.5 ounces is all your going to get out of that at a comfortable fill level, it should be just up to the neck for proper air flow and circulation
  17. My advice on this- label it true to what it is.... I agree with JC on this one 100%- I want to KNOW whats in my candle I am buying and why would anyone want to hide it?? You are correct people are looking for a good fragrant candle that burns good BUT some people have allergies and sensitivities to ingredients.... why try and sell off a candle as pure soy when its simply not and just put parasoy blend on your label- 95% people wont give a crap but your being honest this way and not selling something that someone could react to Companies that say soy blend.....I call them and ask whats in it- if you cant tell me I am not buying, I am not asking for recipes but if I am gifting to certain people they cannot burn paraffin without sensitivites
  18. Take TT's, JC's and Gails advice....you will get no where but backwards using volume trying to figure your costs Volume has its use but not in trying to calculate your supplies costs
  19. Until everything thaws out and the birds are chirping again 🤣 I did unplug the lights but they stay on the house until spring - my wreath until the sun starts to burn it inside all is down but the tree...I'm going to enjoy it another week before that chore gets disassembled
  20. @Lighten Up the CS lilac could be reformulated I would contact CS and ask them (not that your going to get the truth) but in my latest ongoing emails arguing there IS a problem with soy wax I asked them if they were going to publicly announce any changes in their fragrances due to the fire they claim it is not affecting them yet but when it does they WILL let their audience know but they Have been reformulating all their fragrances with phthalates to phthalate free, they have a few more to go so it's worth asking if lilac is one of them....I haven't been on the site lately to see where they might post this and for what it's worth JS LiLac was wonderful in 415 for me - back when 415 was 415 🤔
  21. You might have better luck - I didn't play with it long so test different pour temps and let us know how it goes for you!
  22. It frosts horribly - couple day cure for sure
  23. There are several threads about this depending on which soy you use you will likely run into a whole host of issues....don't think you can just start mass producing - you will need to test all over again every single fragrance depending on your lot numbers on your cases ....I think it's mid 2017 changes were being noticed I contacted candlescience and they claim nothing has changed with AAK soy waxes even though I have hundreds of complete fails sitting here as proof and they claim they have had no other complaints when I know for a fact several people have called and emailed about it as well 415 is having to be wicked down and ht is compromised 464 is having to be wicked down and ht is compromised along with complaints of sweating C3 is having to be wicked up and ht is compromised 6006 which has soy has been stated wicking issues as well Those are the ones I remember off hand as they are used the most quantum waxes I won't even go there - the complaints are many
  24. Are you getting puffs of black soot at all? What wick series are you testing I get minor cracks and soot in that blend...not horrible but enough for this soy girl to not love it 😂 I don't like seeing black coming off my candle at all
