  1. That is one cool soap rack! Wish they had it in black.
  2. You didn't mention what wax you are using for tarts? My only suggestion is if you are using soy to look and see if the fo is rated in soy wax. I find that the suppliers with the soy ratings are extremely helpful.
  3. They all look great! Love the name of the blue and really like the look of it as well. You are really making me want to do some blending!
  4. You can use potpourri that has lost it's scent, small pinecones, or purchase the plain small animal cage wood chips and fill a muffin tin with it (I line with paper liner as it helps with lighting). Then pour your scented wax over it. I sell them in sets of 3 or 6. I live by the beach where we have fire pits so they sell well here. Some people use them in a fireplace but I don't like the idea of cleaning wax out of a fireplace nor do I like the liability. You can also save all those wick ends that you throw away after you make a candle and trim the wick and stick those in for lighting.
  5. Your soaps are all really pretty. You will do well with them. I sold tons of Goats milk m&p soaps when I made them. Loved adding oils to the base soap as well. I only stopped b&b because the insurance cost here wasn't worth what I made on them.
  6. Have fun, I never miss the new fo testing but for some crazy reason I miss playing with new waxes. I've been waiting and waiting to try GW's Parasoy blend. I guess because it comes in slabs and I love flake...EMBRACE the flake!
  7. Best of luck, I've worked with all waxes and settled on soy for containers and melts. I just love the soft creaminess of it and I've learned to embrace the frosting and wetspots. Since I don't color, frosting is minimal. Wish I had a supplier so very close, especially Peak!! I feel lucky having one 3 hours away!
  8. One thing I've found that helps tremendously with that issue is to temper (for lack of a better word) your wax. So you heat your wax with any additive (not fo or dye) and you let it cool completely to hard and then remelt it and make your candles. I usually just fill my presto pots as soon as I'm done pouring for the day and let it melt while I'm cooling my scented wax to pour. By the time I'm done, the wax is all melted and I can turn off the prestos for my next day of pouring. I also use a little Universal Soy Additive to every batch of wax.
  9. Looks like they did discontinue but I may be able to find it now that I know it's a BBW dupe. Thanks!!
  10. Don't toss EO even if you can't use it for soaping, use it for your own personal use. You can put it on your skin with FCO or any carrier oil or diffuse it into the air. I have a cheap air diffuser that takes no water so can run all day.
  11. Wow! Awesome Congrats. What will you do with all the time you save?
  12. I've done it with success and other times the clam gets a crease from pushing out the first wax and then it leaks. If you try it, put in some type of tray in case you get a leak you don't have a total mess.
  13. Really pretty soap! Is that the name of the fo? I really like that name.
  14. So pretty. I could use a new Dragon's Blood for candles. Have you tried the South Beach in wax yet? Really love the names they chose for their oils.
  15. Wow I can't wait to see what those oils become! I so look forward to soap pics
  16. I'm thinking for B&B colorants, that is not quite enough. I just threw away a ton of candle colors, never use them anymore.
  17. If you are testing different wax formulas then yes you need to stick with 1 scent so you can really tell which has the best results. Leftover wax can be used for firestarters, tarts, dipped items, I just wouldn't use it for anything with a flame unless you know it's well tested. I personally only make firestarters with leftover wax.
  18. Somehow it works great, it doesn't seem to separate or solidify but I do shake it before I use it each time. I have very dry skin so the extra oil is super good for me. The original recipe calls for 1 c sao and 1 c coconut and I modified it down because that was way too much. I make the small batch and between the two of us it gets used up quickly. I have thought about adding a preservative, but so far I haven't needed to and I really don't want chemicals so it would prob just be vit e. I don't sell it just use it, it's really meant for personal use.
  19. Found this online and tweaked it till I was happy. Nice thing is its super easy, readily avail and you can tweak to you hearts desire. I used all organic prods but you don't need to. 2 cups Dr. Bronner's unscented Castile liquid soap 1/2 cup Organic Sweet Almond Oil 1/2 cup Organic Coconut Oil melted 50 drops of your fav EO (I use Ylang Ylang & Lavender) Mix, pour into a bottle and use! My hubby even loves the way it makes his skin feel. It is super soothing if you have dry skin.
  20. Also check www.theprairiehomestead.com they have some pretty good natural recipes for just about anything I need.
  21. This is one that I found online a while back. They are sure out this year in CA as well. Natural Mosquito Repellent IngredientsIf you are making large amounts of mosquito repellent, a good rule of thumb is to mix the repellent so it's 5-10% essential oil, so mix 1 part essential oil with 10-20 parts carrier oil or alcohol. For a smaller batch use: 10-25 drops (total) of essential oils2 tablespoons of a carrier oil or alcoholThe essential oils that work well against mosquitoes are: cinnamon oillemon eucalyptus oilcitronella oilcastor oil
  22. I make just container candles (no pillars, votives) and use C3. A long time ago I experimented with essential oils and think all my notes were lost when my computer crashed. I did try a search on here but didn't really get answers except found one that said start with 3/4 oz in 464 wax. I was trying to remember how much I used, thinking it was between 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz of eo in a #, so is that a good starting point. Also, I sell my 12 oz status jar candles with fo for $15, I'm thinking I would have to charge at least $22 for one with eo, I know areas differ but I think the right blends will sell at $22. I can't even remember if the eo burned off faster than fo. Dang I feel like I'm just starting in this business and spinning in circles over this...hate when computers crash and notes are lost.
  23. Never found one even close! I think we need a poll with all Bert's fo's and what replacement has been found as this question continues to get asked for one or more of her scents. I sort of gave up on the Dark Chocolate Mint, nobody's come anywhere near it. The rest I wanted to keep I replaced with something similar, some I renamed to protect the innocent!
  24. I'm sorry can't help, but I have seen status jars 12 oz with 1 wood wick for sale. I've never purchased one to see how it burns, but lets hope the person making did. Maybe it's the size of the wick. Here is where I got mine, but gave up testing due to time issues. http://www.bulkapothecary.com/categories/make-it/candle-making/candle-wicks/
