  1. Thanks, that is at least a great start...does the testing ever end?
  2. Wick n Wax, I'll buy the Hersheys if you'll write...heck I'd even be willing to take notes for you while you think!! I've googled myself silly! I'm so sick of searching the internet for answers. I love this site, everyone is helpful and quick responses.
  3. It would be great if someone with experience out there would write a manual to list the different waxes, which wicks work well with them and which scents require wicking up. I would pay big bucks for such a creature! By big bucks of course I mean under $20.00!! I know websites offer help, but it's almost impossible to compile the info that years of experience provides. If I had the experience, I would attempt a first draft.:undecided Anyone ready to take the challenge?
  4. I had the same problem until I tried mixing just a bit of C-3 into the pillar wax. It softened it up just enough. Not GREAT results yet, still testing on how much to add, but they come out much better than straight P-1 which is the wax from H_ _ _!!
  5. I don't think anyone was ROLF...we've probably all been there with something! I also use C-3, have remelted with good results and also with bad results...mostly the color was the problem, some frosted badly after remelt. I've now gone to all natural (no color) and remelts work great. I'd like to know how to wick after the candle starts to set up? You mentioned poking a wick hole...what do you use to poke the hole, wooden skewer? I'm thinking that might resolve my bubbles around the wick as my wickless candles come out nice and smooth on top.
  6. I know for sure the browns frost or anything in that family of color. I even bought a paraffin candle in brown to see what would happen and it frosted just as bad as the soy. I thought it was just soy that did this. I'm going natural from here on out!
  7. Check out Candle Science's fo...they are great and throw great even in all soy wax. They rate each fragrance for throw in soy. I'm using them now and most of the problems are gone.
  8. Thanks for the info, the problem is shipping charges, it doubles the cost of wax when I order from suppliers out of my area (Southern CA). I can actually pick up the Cargill C-3 in North Hollywood from Gen Wax and I think I'm just going back to that and dealing with the bubbles around the wick and the occasional sink holes! I'm by no means experienced, but I'm starting to think that you just need to find a wax you like and work out the problems until resolved rather than trying every wax out there???:embarasse
  9. www.thesoysensational.com this is the website. Several manufacturers list the suppliers on their website and I can get some info that way, but I can't seem to find this one. They claim it is 100% soy, it has a very low melt point and pours quite well, good adhesion, but it cracks after it cures...looks good for the first 3 days! It is so soft that I doubt it has any pillar wax in it, but I'm thinking some type of additive?? Of course, I'm just guessing here!~!
  10. :embarasse I'm very frustrated with the suppliers "renaming or renumbering" the soy wax. I'm having a hard time telling if I am double testing! I've searched the archives and can't find a listing of who carries what brand...Oh, did I mention that most of the suppliers won't give me the information! Does anyone know if such a listing exists and where to obtain it? If all else fails, I'm sure I can contact the manufacturers directly and find out who they supply to in my area (or specific companies I'm buying from.) :embarasse
  11. Love the name of your company! That's exactly how I feel at times. I also am using C-3 as I can pick it up locally and save $$$$ on shipping. Sometimes I get sink holes, sometimes I don't. I find it works best in room temp tins, don't know why. Cold glass, warm glass, hot glass...some come out fine, some sink???? I'm ordered EZ soy and loved the way it poured but almost every candle cracked either slightly or completely through?? My next step will be testing the two together???
  12. Please, if you figure it out, let me know! I've switched to frosted glass and tins! And I think I've tried all the "tricks"!
  13. I'm not sure if this will work for the ball, but I bought some molds that you wick after cured and the instructions state to heat up a thin nail or long metal object and then stick it into the candle where you want the wick when it cools slightly you can remove it and insert your wick. It works fine for up to 4", but I'm not sure if it will work on a larger candle.
  14. The colors are very nice. Love your jars and labels. I would buy either one color or white. I think most people look for color if they are gift giving and really don't care if it is for themselves.
  15. I'm having good luck with scent throw in the C-3 wax. I'm using Nu-Scent fo or Amdistributing (which is really true scent and throws great) who has a store on e-bay.
  16. I'm with you on this color situation, I'm pretty new at this and thought that was the problem, but speaking to others found out it is just an issue with soy. I spoke to a lady who has been doing this for years and she almost never colors her candles as she loves the creamy white of the soy. Lots of labels, but you have to make tags or labels anyway to sell them.
  17. I actually just received two molds for them. They are small round tarts and the mold looks just like something you would use in baking. It has 6 openings and is non-stick. I haven't tried to make any yet, but I think it might be fun!
  18. I'm trying to use up some soy pillar wax I have not to waste it and it is cracking on some of the containers (mostly the glass containers.) Does anyone know if there is anything I can add to it so it will work better in the containers?
  19. does anyone know where to purchase the carved out tree branches that are used for candle containers?
