  1. Hi everyone! wondered if you have successfully used fragrances from Lonestar? wanna share?🌸
  2. Avery we print is free to design. You have the option of printing it yourself or for a fee they will print for you and send them to you. what I like is I can design my labels and print a test copy on reg. printing paper, cut it out, slap on my jar and decide if it works, size wize, front type, etc. I have heard good things about Onlinelables. Another one I love and it’s free is Canva. I design labels on canva, it saves your designs. I then you to Avery weprint, open the canva design and print.
  3. Also Avery labels has hang tag designs. You can design them on their site, Avery WePrint. Make sure your printer takes card stock though. if you went the route of stickers you’d still have to print 5 different labels.
  4. I’m not sure what to say here. Maybe it’s the 444 wax? Some of you know I blend 464 with Lab co or Northwoods coconut wax, 50/50 for a year now and have never had bad results. Smooth tops, no holes, smooth after each burn to the end.I have tried 464 at higher percentages with the coconut wax and they were ugly which is why i use 50/50. Recap: When I upped the soy they got ugly. One soys characteristics is bumpy tops after you burn. So I would try lowering your percentage.
  5. Bingo! moonshine is correct! Keep using high quality ingredients and increase your prices. The fear is you’ll loose customers but candles are still an affordable luxury. If they ask explain the reasons why. Let them know why your candles are higher quality then mass produced, etc. Using words like premier, luxury wax and fragrances, paying attention to detail, small batches, quality control, made in the USA and so on. Work on your sales pitch! We can always make improvements!🌸
  6. Yes, wet spots for sure with mine, pouring lower but I’m just accepting this trait. Also wicking down is key with coconut wax, Northwoods, not sure about the other coconut blends out there. And detailed notes, even pictures so you can refer back. Im still testing, but came close but then back to restart.
  7. I love and tried some of their f.o.s but many just weren’t strong enough in my wax. Belle was so nice but light as well as bergamot tobacco . Guinevere’s attraction was fantastic, medium throw in my wax. I cure my wax for a longer period. I thought to but these lighter scents in perfume and sprays as to not waste them because they are so lovely. Maybe some of you have had better luck?
  8. For those of you interested in this company a review on YouTube from 2015 shows unboxing the candles, very simple pkg. ideas any way. The reviewer does not light the candle unfortunately. Looks like the lids are plastic? I think they are currently metal. I don’t know how to add links soooooo google frostbeard studio unboxing/review.
  9. I agree with Sarah. I would use palm or pko but not both, those can be drying to the skin. Im a fan of olive oil vrs. sunflower oil. Also love what coconut oil does in soap. Castor for sure. I go between Shea butter and mango butter, what ever I have on hand. You can make small batches and try some combos.
  10. Their jars and lids inspired me so I used them but a 9 oz jars. I have since changed my containers too many times! Their labels look like they cover any adhesion issues if they exist. It would be great to know how they burn. They also offered a subscription too.
  11. They were featured a while ago on Candle Science’s web sight. Successful from what I've read. I’ve seen their sight on Etsy a few months ago.
  12. Yup those tariffs! But....... the good news is he does want all businesses to stay here in the US and if you are in the retail business feel free to increase your prices and encourage them to buy US made and buy local as someone suggested. I would also add a notice of price increase to your product. That what I would do.🌸
  13. How many people to blow that flame out? it is a nicely built fire though!
  14. Ahh, sink holes! I have never had any using Northwoods coconut wax including my blend with 464. I do pour very cool as TT mentioned. I pour at 110 for straight coconut wax (Northwoods) and for my 50/50 blend with 464. Not one sink hole! Hope this helps! I cure 2 plus weeks, testing earlier won’t give you best results. I know their web sight states differently, hence, lots of testing!🌸
  15. Hi! i started out with Northwoods coconut wax and loved it right off the bat! But it probably wasn’t the best choice for a beginner from what I’ve read here. The issues can be with wicking this wax. I’ve tried the cottonwood wicks and loved them but did not continue testing them because I was drawn to the wooden wicks which in the end I did not care for so started testing eco and premier wicks.I love both so far. I also blend 464 and coconut wax, 50/50 and love this blend. You mentioned about a huge gap between the top and bottom of the wax, can you describe this more or send a picture? Also, a few here also blend their waxes so I’m sure you’ll get some responses and ideas.🌸
  16. Hi! I don’t use that wax but appreciate all your pictures and testing! Thanks for sharing your tests!🌸
  17. I teach yoga workshops and that’s where the the money is for me, not my weekly classes. He also offers candle making workshops, my guess he is making tons! And yes, his YouTube channel is very successful. He’s carved out his own niche and brand. Good for him!
  18. I have so many favorites, it’s hard to choose! I like blending 464 with coconut wax rather than 464 straight. Recently blending it with 4630 and like it as well.🌸
  19. I have not but I am a fan of his videos as well as Tim’s from Timber Ridge Gifts. I like getting others perspectives on candle making.🌸
  20. Wow Laura! I appreciate your list and for posting it for all of us. Thanks🌸
  21. I like the look, the crackle but for me wooden wicks are to unpredictable no matter what wax I use. I wish there were more in between sizes as well. Ive been pouring 4630 lately and really like this wax. It’s my first paraffin wax. The HT is great! Flamings Caramel Coconut, 8%.I’ve also blended it with 464 cause I’m curious like that! I’m satisfied for now but testing further. Premier wicks working well for me in this wax.
  22. I’ve seen this also. I think of higher end candles. Upper middle class, fancy is what I think of, the whole French thing!
  23. I’m also in the cure camp because I’ve seen/smelled the results. I burn my testers from 6 months ago and they seem to be great. Glad I saved them. And like candybee and bfroberts says, you can make your candles in advance.
