  1. I’ve used this wax and yes wick down for sure. A longer cure with this wax is helpful with certain f.o. I think 8% is good, Eco burns hotter in this wax. Your batch sounds suspicious to me though. It is always smooth 100% of the time in my experience so I’m wondering if it’s your batch. I would email Northwoods and at least make them aware. Recently, they announced they may have to discontinue the coconut wax due to manufacturing issues. It is out of stock often. Also they stated they would help customers transition to another wax. Red flag for me!
  2. This is a new wax blend! Has anyone tried it yet?
  3. So relatable! I wanted those wood wicks to work and they did until the 3rd burn. I was mesmerized by the crackling which I so enjoyed. I built up the whole candle making process in my head in to this magical fantasy and then eventually went back to basics. I thought, well everyone and their mother are making beautiful scented candles, how hard can it be! One wax, one type of wick. When that did not work I kept the wax and chose different wicks to try. You will get there! Candles don’t want to be rushed!🌸
  4. I’m not in this business as long as others here. They might say no wax is worth so and so. I justify the cost because I love coconut wax. I love Northwoods even more but at 24.00, 5 lbs. now that is a lot. Mixing it with 464 helps the overall cost plus I find they do work well together so far, we know that can change!
  5. I tested a few different percentages using 464 and Lab co coconut wax and settled on a 50/50 blend. The candles are smooth with EVERY burn down to your last burn. I first tried 80/20 blend, 464 at 80% and Lab co at 20%, cratering, uneven, just not to my liking. Ive also tried 40/60 and that worked well too. 50/50 is very is to calculate which is why I’m at that percentage.🌸
  6. Looks like it’s available on amazon but then again what isn’t!
  7. That’s funny, I have that same table buts it’s in my dinning room. I bought a cheap padded vinyl covering. It comes on a big roll/ by the yard and cut it to fit at Joann’s fabric. Walmart May have it. I then put freezer paper over that. This covering is very cheap, had it for 20 yrs.🌸
  8. Just looked into pirate ship and it seems fine for me, I don’t ship that much, not sure if shipping a lot product would be cost effective.🌸
  9. Ya know, I’m on the fence on this topic. I decided initially to not use color until my daughters requested pink candles. Wow, the hot pink is really pretty in an ombré painted mason jar. Then I tried teal, another wow!🌸
  10. Oh that feeling! Nothing like a package at the front door! Its official then, you are a legit candle maker person!😀🌸
  11. I’ve never used 6006 so I can’t compare. I think if you do a search here there are posts and some recipes using a combination of waxes so definitely check it out. Ive also blended 464 with pro blend for melts with success. I have pink revised fo been sitting in my tart burner that I haven’t melted yet and the cold throw is strong. I made that batch 4 months ago🌸
  12. As of late, pro blend 650 is really easy to use, for me at least. I buy it from Flaming. Para/soy blend.🌸
  13. I think some men don’t care for manly scents. My husband for one. I love more masculine scents myself though!🌸
  14. Wholesale Supplies Plus has a whole page of kits, 50.00 and up. You can view the recipes before you purchase. They have some kid friendly themes for kids as well.🌸
  15. I use and love this wax! You must cure it for weeks not days. Now some FOs will throw days after but in my experiences this wax benefits form a longer cure. For me a minimum of 2 weeks. I know this can be a challenge as we all want an immediate HT as soon as we light up and you will with paraffin but coconut wax works a bit different. There is a big learning curve using wooden wicks if you are a beginner. Maybe try traditional wicks first? Even those are challenging for the novice.🌸
  16. Yup, great oils! Looks like they have a new name, Nature’s Fragrance. Coco butter cashmere is fantastic in 464 and coconut wax, (lab co.) Bourbon butterscotch also great in wax. Caramel cream coffee, also great.
  17. My best sellers have been lip balm, healing Salve, cuticle cream, soap and perfume. What have been your best selling b&b products? Are there any new trends you are excited about that you’d like to share?🌸😀
  18. I agree pughaus! Ive been testing with eco wicks, tried premiers, cds and htp wicks and always come back to eco. I love not having to use a scissors and just break off the vary tip. The ecos seem short when I do this and the flame is not high in fact on the low side but it does grow larger as the candle burns to just the right height. If I under wick they drown, also if I trim them to short they drown. Im using the 8 oz. square mason jars from Flamings. As I’ve said in the past some of my older candles from 2-4 months ago have amazing HT. The same applies if I blend lab co with 464. We all know 464 definitely benefits with a longer cure.🌸
  19. Depends on the FO. some are ready a week later, some vastly improve 2 plus weeks even 1 month later. If you mix this wax with 464 which I do as well, the same cure time applies. There are a few FOs that are stronger like lemon verbena that I can light 3 days later and have a great HT BUT, I feel the wax needs to cure and testing your wick later rather than to soon can be a benefit. If we test to soon the results may not be accurate.🌸
  20. As promised I received an email from Lab Co./Wooden Wicks about their recent name change for the coconut wax. Below is the email. The wax is the same! I do love this wax!🌸
  21. A higher FO won’t necessarily give you a stronger scent and may be challenging to wick. The right wick will give you a good hot throw but the FO you use matters as well. Not all FOs work well which is why you will test. At 125-130 the wax is still liquid, not quite cloudy when I pour. I’ve poured at 150 with no issues. The lower temp helps to reduce wet spots. I cool my candles slowly, covered. I have not noticed a thick layer on the bottom as you mentioned. You’ll no doubt get more advice here from others. Everyone’s methods are slightly different.🌸
  22. Hi and welcome! I do use this wax. It might be a good idea to start small when first learning candle making. This way you’ll learn how your wax behaves. So start slow. I heat to 185 ish. Add in my FO and stir for 2 minutes and yes the temp will lower. Since I pour between 125-130 this is ideal for me. Ive never used 12% FO even if it can handle that amount. Try 6-8 percent to start, you can add more in your next candle. The FO from Wooden Wicks is expensive! Have some wicks ready to test, some will work others not so much. Candle sites will recommend sizes but you have to test your self for the safest end product that’s if you sell. Prepare to cure your candle! If you light it the next day there may not be a scent at all. I cure mine 10-14 days. read read and read some more! There are fantastic posts here on everything you can think of. Have fun!🌸
