  1. Looking forward to this talltayl!😀
  2. Scary! Thanks for sharing your story. With such a deep melt pool sounds like that candle burned a really long time. That’s something we can’t control. Keep us posted and good thing your insurance was in place.🌸
  3. Are these odor eliminators made differently than regular FO? I don’t know much about them and was asked to make some melts for pet owners. What is the difference between the eliminators and FO? Just curious as usual🌸
  4. I rely on my husbands nose, he has a keener sense of smell than mine. Not very scientific but it works for me so far.🌸
  5. Here’s what I use. Great trimming wicks and wooden wicks. Theses are generic 3 in. Approximately, toe nail clippers. ESPECIALLY for deeper jars.
  6. Jump lines? I think this can happen with Any wax. I get them if I pour at a low temperature and pour to slow. Also if your container is cold. Soooo, warm up your container, pour warmer and don’t pour to slow. I don’t think it’s the beeswax or your combo of wax.🌸
  7. Quentin! So sorry about your father. Both my parents were in hospice care and you are correct, it’s beyond overwhelming even with help. Between 3 siblings we hired a caretaker who would spend the night a few times a week but it’s the emotional strain that was hardest on me. Burnout big time so get out a bit and don’t forget to take some time for yourself. 🌸
  8. Omg! This happened to me not long ago. l was admiring the flame, turned away and it sank! Crazy!!!😀
  9. If they become mushroomy you may need to switch out the wick. This can happen depending on your combo of wax, FO/amount, wick, etc. I use eco wicks and don’t experience mushrooms. I ditto what Forrest said!🌸
  10. Everything you have explained is part of the candle making process. There is no other way and no short cut so you are on track as far as that goes. And yes, hundreds of dollars later but it’s worth it if you love making them. Problend 600 works well without mixing. As far as wicks go the KEY is finding the right combo of wax, wicks, FO, and container that work all together. You’ll get there! Candle making videos are just basic information. He over wicks many of his candles. But it’s good you tried his method and you see for yourself that something is not working. 🌸
  11. Those are nice, I’ve seen them at Woodenwick Company. Are you using their wonderful wax? Custom made dust covers would be great. But yes, card stock may end up oily.
  12. This is why I love eco wicks, I just break off the top of the wick using my fingers, perfect height every time. This doesn’t work with premier wicks so I use a large size nail clippers which works great in a taller jar and works like magic on wooden wicks. *im not referring to the scissor type nail clipper, the standard, only larger.🌸
  13. Maybe it’s the one FO you just don’t care for and that’s ok. We won’t love everything we sell and tastes vary so much!
  14. Ive been including a handout with every purchase which talks about candle safety and candle care. Hopefully everyone reads it but you never know. My tester folks get a handout as well🌸
  15. Hi! Lab co. Coconut wax is great! I would stick with that. The percentage of paraffin is quite small according to the company. I feel it actually boosts the hot throw. Some of the best candles and the expensive ones are made with paraffin. You could try blending a soy wax with the Lab co wax and produce a nice candle. You'll probably get other ideas here from other folks who use the wax you mentioned. Good luck!🌸
  16. Let’s include our wick stash as well!🤪
  17. Wow, that’s a great niche for your candles! Lots of great folks here and lots of sharing too! Welcome!🌸
  18. Great questions and you’ll get some answers once you start to test. Forests answers are based on his wax and his candle making journey/experiences. The very best way is to start very simple, one wax, one type of wick, one type of container. Take notes. Lots of notes! This is why it takes so long to figure things out. I don’t think there are any short cuts. I found that out! Candle making is not linear. By reading posts here is the very best way to begin, you’ll have support too!🌸
  19. I love and use those, our grocery store sells them. If I have any left over wax I pour them into the cups, using them later in my wax melter. 🌸
  20. I’m never short of ideas! if you plan on selling melts/tarts I saw the perfect lions head silicone mold on Etsy. Just passing this along! I don’t know how to copy and paste, sorry!🌸
  21. I’m always looking for a straight coconut, so far nothing comes close. And most are on the light side. I sure will give Flamings a try! Thanks for the suggestions 🌸
