  1. Know I've posted this before but I tie a piece of panty hose over the spout on both turkey fryer and presto pots and it keeps all the trash out. You do have to change it after awhile but it really keeps all the little bit of trash out that seems to be in wax.
  2. Has anyone tried using the premier wicks with paraffin? I have always used cd's but had several sizes for when I "play" with soy and wondering how they would work in paraffin. Didn't want to waste good wax & oils if they don't work.
  3. Me & Candybee use same supplier & software! Also print my warning labels.
  4. I get more of a mint than eucalyptus with the one I have been using. Like it.
  5. Diaper wipes - unscented - work good for cleaning off your jar.
  6. Guess I am the odd ball! lol I have an Ink jet Epson R260 Photo Printer that I love. Prints labels and pictures very good. I have never owned anything but Epsons. I learned a long time ago to use nothing but Epson color/black cartridges.
  7. I have This Old House from TN and Welcome Home from AH/RE and they are not the same. Welcome Home has a bakery like scent to it. I love it.
  8. I have just been through the same thing in Nov and I still haven't got my think/mental state back. I would hate to think I had to come in so quick and do what she is doing.
  9. AH/RE has a Wine by Candlelight that used to be popular with several of my customers. - The most realistic, sensuous wine scent you'll ever use! A bountiful, heady merlot with notes of red berries and a hint of sweetness with amber. Strong seductive...a definite winner. They also have a chardonnay - this is their description of it - A fruity, white wine bouquet with top notes of white peach and strawberry. The heart blends sweet violet and lily of the valley with fresh melon and rose blossom. The base is a woody violet, sweet balsamic & white musk. Well rounded and complex, this Chardonnay fragrance oil offers a rich aroma without being heavy on the alcohol notes. Vineyard - Yankee type. The sweet aroma of plump merlot, cabernet, and zinfandel grapes. Don't know if any of those will help but usually all the scents I have ordered from them have been great.
  10. I have that scent and no, it does not smell like red mac apple. I use the Mac Apple from JS and love it. Very strong and smells just like a red delicious apple to me.
  11. She has a facebook group and has good reviews there. Her name is Alissa Barnett I have not ordered any. I have had to take some time off from candles.
  12. Love the black lid for all the candles. What about the original label with a small black border around it?
  13. 4 x 6 pillar is hard to wick with paraffin. I don't make them any wider than 3". I gave up trying to wick the mold I had. Really think double wicking with small size wicks would have worked but didn't want to try it.
  14. Be sure it was not sitting under a ceiling fan as the fan will make the flame sorta blow to one side and blow out. With paraffin all it needs is a little bit of melted wax to close to the wall and the hot wax overflows and you have a big mess!
  15. I like the CS better. Seems stronger to me. Edited to add like your name for it mzphee!
  16. To my nose CS cranberry marmalade smellslike Peaks Cranberry Apple Marmalade. Any thoughts on this?
  17. I make a lot of pillars, probably more than containers for online orders and yours looks good for your first time. I use 4625 pillar wax and add 3 TBS stearic and 1 tsp vibar 103 per lb. I started doing this years ago when I was having trouble with "snow flaking" and "fingernailing" - think that is what it was called years ago! Anyway I searched for that wax and the old Cierra Candles website suggested doing this, I called them and asked why and they said IGI suggested this. I started adding it and pillars turned out perfect and so I just kept adding it. I pour my wax at about 180-185 and pour it to the top of mold, as it cools in shrinks in center then just filled (topped) in at 185 to just the top of wax on side of mold. I also do a lot of poking with my stir stick to be sure there are no air pockets inside. I use flat braid wicks and usually the 27 works for all my 3" pillars.
  18. I let my paraffin candle sit for 24 hr before I burn it. From what I have read/seen paraffin doesn't really require a cure time but I do like to wait the 24 hr.
  19. Flaming Candle Co has Falling Leaves and I liked it better than any I had tried. This is their description - Smoky wood is the essence of this rich, autumn fragrance. Guaicwood and cedar are accented with notes of apple, spices, berries, and patchouli on a base of sweet musk. It seemed like I could get just a whiff of a smoky scent with a mix of of the other notes. Don't say it is a dupe though.
  20. I ordered the Sweet Dani in 2012 and just smelled it and it has a spicy type scent to me. Think I called it country store gift shop or something like that. I liked it because of the spice type scent.
  21. I use hot glue with the high temp glue sticks. They don't move!
  22. The Flaming Candle Co has one, this is their description The distinctive, irresistible scent of crispy bacon! Notes: Top – cloveMiddle – almond, breadBottom – woody, mapleIt had 1 good review
  23. Years ago someone here said to twist your wick and as it burns it will "untwist" and your candle will burn even. I use cd wicks and have been doing this for years and it does work! I put my wick clip on to hold my wick and then just twist/turn my jar around several times.
