  1. Hi, I’m a few weeks in to my research phase for making candles. Got into this by looking for non-toxic diffuser refills for my home, which led to looking at oils, fragrances, and paraffins and then stumbling across so much YouTube content. Then, yada yada, I’ve invested about $600 in fragrance samples, test waxes, supplies, containers. I plan to try making my own soy-beeswax-coconut blend OR hopefully finding success with one of the Cargill Nature Waxes. I welcome any advice for this testing stage, especially with: non-paraffin waxes wicks testing FO’s without breaking the bank FO load for HT Glad to find this group! Thanks!!
  2. Has anyone found a replacement for the discontinued Candle Science Lavender Cucumber Sage Scent? The scent profile is below: Note Profile:Top: Chamomile, Neroli, EucalyptusMiddle: Lavender, Orange, RoseBase: Powder, Vanilla, Cedar
  3. hi I am new to candle making! Hoping I could get some proper insight! I have made a few scented candles already and they have come out pretty good, just some issues. I've tried multiple waxes, coconut, soy, parasoy, veggysoy and I've tried multiple wicks, eco, htp and CD. I seem to be coming across issues with wet spots/poor adhesion the sides of my glass jar, wax discoloring, excess soot and not an even melt pool. I've tried so many possibilities I am unsure where to focus on and how to correct what issue. Or how to figure out the root of which issue. please help!
  4. Where to buy best of the best FO or EO? Those oils that use in their products niche, luxury, high-end brands.
  5. I'm currently on the hunt for a Burnt Sugar FO and having little luck. Bramble Berry pops up a lot in my Google searches, but it appears they no longer offer this FO. I have found Burnt Sugar on only two US websites (I try to avoid FO's from other countries due to high shipping & wait time)... The Candle Lab 2oz $14.00 + shipping "Sweet, warm, and caramelized with just a hint of citrus, like the hardened top of Creme Brûlée." Wax Poetic Candle Bar 2oz $14.00 + shipping "Burnt Sugar is like brown sugar, but with the warm and smoky notes of caramelized sugar." I like Wax Poetic's description better, as the "citrus" in the other is putting me off. However, I don't want to spend over $20 on a 2oz bottle and end up disliking it. Anyone know of other US sites where I can get a good Burnt Sugar FO? Could I mix Caramel FO & Brown Sugar FO and achieve the semi smoky burnt sugar scent that I seek?? Thanks.
  6. I have quite a few 1oz bottles and a couple lb bottles from Indigo and Just Scent that I will never use. I tried looking on Facebook for candle and/or fragrance oil destash groups but not sure which ones are good or reliable. Just wondering if anyone has used any FB groups to destash their FO and which ones are legit. Also, if there are any other good methods for destash. TIA
  7. Hello, I'm looking for good blackberry or blackberry pie fragrance oils. Or even perhaps a blend suggestion? I see that TCS (The Candlemakers Store) and (JS) Just Scent have a Blackberry Pie FO. I've never ordered from TCS before, I have ordered from JS though. The first time from JS was a huge miss for me, lol, but I have since ordered a lot of good ones from there. I just got Blackberry Brulee from CandleWic and it smells really good OOB but maybe a little too sweet and without the pie crust note. I also see that TCS has a Blackberry Cobbler that I think may pass as a "pie" scent. Has anyone tried any of these? Or have any other suggestions? Also, who has a good straight Blackberry scent that I can perhaps blend to make a pie scent? TIA
  8. First post here! I am looking for a spot on dupe to Bath and Body Works Peppermint Marshmallow. I tried the marshmallow peppermint type from Just Scent because the description sounded identical to that of BBW but it has such a strong chocolate note that it makes me think I didn't get the right FO. It smells more like Peppermint Bark. I've seen a few other places have a peppermint cream but a lot of the reviews mention a chocolate note. The BBW scent does not contain any chocolate notes, it is an amazing peppermint, marshmallow and cupcake type scent. I was thinking of trying Just Scent's Peppermint Meringue because the description sounds close and a review mentions it smells like peppermint marshmallow. Has anyone tried this FO or know where I can get a good dupe? TIA
  9. Has anyone tried any of Fillmore's new oils ? They have a new Berry Triffle that sounds really good !
  10. Does fragrance oil play any part in soy wax glass adhesion? If there is no other visible signs that the fragrance oil does not blend well. TIA
  11. I've never used Wellington before and heard the BBW type Simply Devine Cherry 🍒 Pie is good . Anyone tried this one before? https://www.wellingtonfragrance.com/Simply-Divine-Cherry-Pie-BBW-Type-Fragrance-Oil-P2337.aspx
  12. When we say that we add a percentage to the wax, do we have to calculate it from the TOTAL wax plus fragrance oil amount? Meaning, that if we have 10 percent fragrance oil, don't we have to first calculate the wax PLUS fragrance oil, to get the total weight, and then backtrack? If we just use the wax weight, it won't be a percentage of the total weight. Ugh did that make any sense??? Am I missing something? So, if we have 3 pounds of wax (48 ounces), we can't just add 4.8 ounces of fragrance oil. We have to do a little math and add 5.3 ounces (total weight 53.3 ounces so that would be 10% fragrance oil). Also wondering if anyone has seen a chart that does that math for us.
  13. I've been lurking here for awhile and I learned a lot. I've seen where when adding fragrance oil to wax, its by percentage. like 10% for example. now for example, I have 1 lb wax (16oz), and I want 10%, so that's 1.6 oz fragrance oil my question is, should the fragrance oil be measured by weight? or by fl oz? I apologize in advance if this may be a stupid question. Happy monday!
  14. I was in a specialty cookie shop this morning and I noticed they sell candles. After ordering my cookies I asked some questions about their candles. It turns out they're not from a local company and they really want a chocolate chip cookie scent that their current vendor can't/won't provide. I need recommendations for a fabulous cc cookie fo please! I'd love to present one of my candles to this shop!

  16. So I am fairly new to candle making. I’ve been trying at it for the past 6 months and of course like everyone else, the frustration has set in. I am currently using 4oz and 8oz tin containers and using c3 wax. My struggle is figuring out what size/type of wick I should use for my candles. I am not getting a strong hot scent throw. The current fragrances that I have been using come from Justscents.com. I am currently testing different wicks to see what would work best. I purchased sample wicks packets with all different sizes of wicks. Some of the ones that I have are Premier, HTP, CD and ECO. Does anyone have any suggestions on the type of wick I should use and size based on the information I provided? If you need any any other information please let me now so I can provide. Any assistance will be great appreciated! Picture below is me testing the HTP 93 m wick. I let it burn for about 2 hours.

  20. Hey! What’s the best company for fragrance oil! I need amazing smelling and long lasting.
  21. I've been looking at a few different FO suppliers as I want to test a few new ones. I'm trying to find strong, uncut oils. Just fragrance oils which smell strong and not with the diluted smell some contain. I've researched reviews on a couple and they don't look promising. I've only heard good things about them on this forum, though. Most had 3.5/5 stars. I'd rather get some insight than waste money. Thanks everyone 😊
  22. Hello, My first post! But I’ve been lurking for a few months 😄 soaking up all the incredible info you have all kindly provided. Such a wealth of knowledge! Thank you. I recently started making Soy Candles, just for myself and family. I use Naturewax C3, 10oz straight sided tumblers and Eco wicks. On a recent trip to Target, I stopped by the candle section and sniffed a Chesapeake Bay ‘Snuggly Sweater’ Candle. In love with this scent ☺️ What I am wondering is, does anyone happen to know a very close fragrance oil, I could use to recreate this for myself? Below is the description of the scent: “Experience Snuggly Sweater - comforting notes of warm wool wrap around lavender and rose as it rests on a base of white amber, vanilla and musk ready to snuggle up to.” Thank you so much! ~ Sarah

  24. I'm trying to broaden my selection of FOs and I don't know many online suppliers. I have always used Candlescience, but I need some new scents. Recently, I placed an order with the flaming candle. I haven't received it yet but I'm hoping their FOs are good. Where do you normally order from and what FOs have you found that create a strong CT/HT? thanks all as usual ☺️☺️
  25. Hi there! I’m lookin looking for a great pear FO that works great in soy wax. I’ve tried PEAKS Bartlett Pear in the past and while it’s good it takes awhile to get a medium HT from it. Anyone tried Filmore’s French Pear? I’ve seen that one.
