  1. If the wax/fo was mixed properly then it is most likely the wick being too hot. You won't notice that as much on a first burn as you will when it starts getting inside the jar. If these are the wider neck jars, you shouldn't reach a full mp on the first 2 hour burn, there should be a little hang up on the sides, these jars taper down as well so burn hotter toward the bottom. I tested the small neck and hated them so can't help much there.
  2. Candle Science & The Candle Source both had good ones. I did notice the last one I purchased from the Candle Source was lighter in depth and darker in color. With all the changes in fo over the past couple of years I'd check and see if someone rated one in the fragrance review section.
  3. I have added CBD oil but not straight Hemp. The CBD so far seems to hold up just fine. It seems Prairie Annie used Hemp look for her additive post it has a ton of info.
  4. Bad news for those that use this wax. I imagine they are having difficulty sourcing at a reasonable price.
  5. I don't know which Calwax would work, I primarily used C3 for both candles & melts, they pop right out of molds and clamshells.
  6. ok so the other I used was Calwax so they were both the same. They both gave me headaches, but I do remember those tunneling issues with that wax. I really didn't use it long enough to work through the problems.
  7. Do you know if Candlewic is having it made for them or if it's another company's wax? I used a couple different ones and had issues with tunneling. Swan's candle was one. Then found out it had paraffin in it so stopped testing. Burning paraffin gives me horrible headaches so I can't test anything with it.
  8. I don't use your wax, just wanted to add that sometimes you have to give in on something. I tolerate wet spots and an occasional mushroom with certain scents. If you can get a good, safe burn and a decent hot throw you may just have to be happy with some scents since you say you can't drop them.
  9. I love those jars and the color, I have many of the really old ones. I buy a case of the "new" color Ball intros every so often and put them away, in 25 years they will be vintage (new old stock). I don't like them for candles because of the small mouth, I like the wide mouth ball jars better.
  10. It would be nice if all fo suppliers dated the bottles they ship in, I'm sure the master batches are dated when they receive them. More work but could be very helpful for us.
  11. Guess over all the years, the bad advice never stops. The lady who tried to teach me to make candles told me to take straight fo on a cotton ball and wipe it on top of every candle that way the candles smelled strong when people smelled them. That was the last time I ever asked her anything, lol. Even as a beginner I knew that was bad advice. Over time it would disappear but even so I'd never try to intentionally deceive someone.
  12. I used that wax for almost 30 years, 9% is too much, 6% works just fine. The only additive I used was a bit of Universal Soy additive, like 1 TBS in 5#. I use cotton wicks. Unless you're into blending waxes, I'd try it with less fo first.
  13. I'd check suppliers by state section and try to get someone close enough to either drive or save on shipping. There are also overseas suppliers that are cheaper but when you say bulk, most require hefty minimums.
  14. It's a nice addition, but AKO has about a 6 month shelf life, so I tended to stay away from ones that I had to worry about going rancid (even in fridge it didn't keep much longer). I have used it in scrubs for myself or my family. Once in soap it may be just fine, I've never tried soap.
  15. On jars the thinner works best and really no reason for waterproof unless you're also making bath products. If you go to labelsbythesheet.com you can choose from a huge variety and buy a small quantity at a time until you decide if you want white, clear, kraft, black, or whatever shape in a label. For clamshells I use Name Badge labels, Avery are expensive but you can find them also online fairly cheap.
  16. Sorry to hear about your dad. I can relate to CHF, luckily open heart surgery corrected mine, also the whole caregiver/hospice with my dad. It's mentally and physically draining. Lighting a candle for you! I can't recall what CandleScience's smelled like. I switched to Flaming Candle's a few yrs back, it's a citrus and I really like it. I'm prob not helping you at all, sorry.
  17. Sadly the best one made has closed their business. I find if you clean the wick trimmer (no wax on blade) it works like a charm. Gute also makes a good one.
  18. Welcome! Beautiful work! You might want to post those pics in the Other Crafts (I think that's what it's called) section and you may just get an order for one! I'm assuming you are selling your jewelry now and we all know you shouldn't assume!
  19. Welcome! You will find a lot of very kind, helpful people here on this board.
