  1. There is a topic somewhere about using a paint mixer which is similar. I don't feel either is a good idea as they incorporates air bubbles. It doesn't take that much stirring to incorporate fo if you are mixing it in at the right temperature. After initial mix, just gently stir a few times during the cooling process and again right before pouring if it's not too slushy. Some people feel the need to stir the entire time it cools but I haven't found that to be true with any wax I've tried.
  2. Sometimes the really stanky scents are tough to cover up so you may have to use way more of what you're blending with on that Cranberry. Pine is a great suggestion as it's strong. I've never had a cranberry smell like that so I guess I've just lucked out. The peach you can blend with just about any other fruity or spicy scent. I love Cinnamon Peach blended.
  3. Candlemakeingsupplies (General Wax) used to carry a 10 oz in matte black but not the corks. I think you may need to figure out exact size and order cork lids separately from someone who carries corks. I see so many candles out there for sale with them, you'd think they'd be easier to find and purchase.
  4. Thanks, I don't think you're odd, or maybe I am too. I thought black cherry & patchouli at first. I'm going to do a bunch of swab tests to see if any of these make a good mix. I don't want it to smell like witches brew so prob avoid spices or maybe just as an undernote.
  5. I actually have both those fo's on hand so I'll give it a whirl, thanks for the advice.
  6. Their checkout/shipping fees were the worst so I stopped using them. I didn't have the time to make calls every time I place an online order so I had to eliminate those that were always issues. They need an overhaul on their website especially the cart/shipping/paypal.
  7. I would do both, raise your prices .25-.50 per item and also set a min of $10 for credit card use. I guess if you use Square you'll need to say debit or credit. We take credit only $10 or more but any amount on debit because our fee is so low on debit. Credit card fees go up every year and between that and shipping fees it''s affecting even the bigger stores not just us small businesses.
  8. May be RA since they do both fragrance oils and perfumes. I'm drawing a blank on who GW uses to mfg and I've contacted them directly in the past but I'm blank right now. '
  9. I was asked to create a scent for a former client. I'm usually fairly good at this but I'm drawing blanks on this one. Black Magic, I think can go so many ways. I immediately thought earthy scents but then I thought maybe not. HELP!! What do you think of? I don't want a pre-blended scent unless it's used as a component only. I'd love to do this in EO.
  10. Yes, you can use many EO's successfully in M&P since there is no lye it doesn't destroy them.
  11. I've used them in all B & B products and like everyone said some work really well. My scrubs, body oils and lotions I could use just about any EO but the lye kills some in soaping. Now with glycerin soap, M&P, it's a whole different story. Find a company that will give you wholesale pricing if you buy so much a year (not a MLM!). I was getting 50% off but I did have to pay shipping charges and had to place at least 1 order of $100 per year or multiple smaller orders.
  12. Sometimes it's better to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. Looks like you are resolving at least some of your issues. Those "wet spots" may have been trapped air as I can see what looks likes a few bubbles in that yellow candle and the biggest one looks like an air pocket.
  13. I totally get the sample theory and for b&b it worked well for me because it would be months usually before I made another bathch using the scent. I couldn't buy 1 oz for candles. i If something worked well and smelled great I needed to put it in a batch right away. Just curious, do you then place another order for a bigger size? To me, the shipping was always more than just buying 4 oz or 8 oz at a time to try and getting a better shipping rate. Just my 2 cents. Hated a million little bottles, lol. That's my ocd kicking in.
  14. I think the regulation is just on products we ingest right now. I get the warning even when I buy supplements online here in CA. It's crazy what is on that list, I buy from iherb a whole lot and almost everything comes up with that warning. and it's only CA as far as I know so not sure other states are doing this. Northwoods may be ahead of the game, idk unless everything is regulated now.
  15. Beautiful! Your soaps inspire. I can hardly wait to move again to our forever retirement spot so I can start soaping again.
  16. It will work with pure soy in some scents, not all. What I found though with soy the longer they sit, the more they frost. Also if not kept in even temp/humidity while curing, they can morph into some horrible growth on top. Also you'd need an awfully big warehouse to store enough candles of each scent for a year. I dated my candles and would pull them for personal/family use after a certain amount of time since I wicked for use after 1-2 months.
  17. It does seem a bit small. Are you sure you didn't also have an air pocket along the wick? With soy, I found pouring down the wick helped with that and then poke holes (stainless meat pins work great, they aren't as thick as skewers) and repour or heat gun.
  18. Why do you think the wick is not large enough? It cleaned the sides fairly well and will continue if you keep burning.
  19. I should have said all wholesale accts is what I quit shipping. Customer orders yes, mostly melts sold and no issues with those.
  20. Get r done! A nice problem to have if you have the supplies to fulfill, but with your specialty containers I imagine it's not always readily available and running out of wax and certain fo's is def a setback. Maybe you can email to say do to overwhelming response, lead time will take ?? more days than usual. LOL seriously, do you have any vacation time to make candles? The poster must have tons of followers, people buy what is recommended and many consider the people they follow a friend.
  21. Pure soy wax, just about any warmer melts it. I think I've tried every type of warmer. Some are so hot they burn off the fo much quicker, like the hot plate burners which may even be disc now.
  22. If I have the boxes that my glass comes in, my candles go right back into those if not shipping. If shipping it takes more padding foam and or bubble wrap, I've even used those paper sleeves that are mesh looking (I save when they come in one of my orders) as the glass weighs way more with the wax and is more prone to breakage. I've had boxes sent to customers where all but 1 broke and I took every precaution, in shipping it just happens from time to time. Be sure to pad each candle and then also pad the bottom, sides and top and you should have pretty good luck. IMO peanuts worked the best but getting harder to find them. After a while I just quit all accounts that required shipping (shipping costs made it impossible to get decent orders).
  23. Does it make anyone else crazy when you buy a cheap soy blend candle and the wick isn't even centered completed and the darn thing burns perfectly in a mason jar? I really want this wax. No soot, no smoking, never trimmed the wick (not even 1st burn) and the candle is burning perfectly. Empire Candle Tuscany Farmhouse Sweet Tea. $4 for a 12 oz candle. I guess I can just keep guessing what the blend might be.
  24. I use a bamboo skewer as a place holder if not wicking, problem is after first wick test your wax has to be soft enough to run that skewer back down to try another size. Heat gun is all I need to clean up after inserting wick.
