  1. Thanks for sharing i just love eo 's just wished they worked in candles for me. I should probably pick up one of the books you mentioned since i use eo so often. do you guys use them in therapeutic ways like a diffuser or massage oils . I love them in room sprays - i like lavender + clary sage
  2. Candybee your probably right thats she's out of touch with her customers. and that is a shame This is why I do like Peak + CS they include all reviews good + bad & let the customer decide. I also like how both Peak + CS just include first name . I have left reviews - all good btw on some sites where they post by first + last name + city /state. I don't know how necessary that is though to include last names ? oh btw ... the orange pekoe tea from Fillmore is SO good ooh - smells just like the tea
  3. Try Peak candles or Candle Science. Or as kandlekrazy said see if theres any in your state or a neighboring state.
  4. Im going to be the odd ball here .... i partially believe her, she said people don't want to leave reviews because they don't want others to know where they get their oils from... i can really see that being true. I know some sites post your full name state etc... personally, i don't like that. i think they should post maybe just your state. With me its more of a privacy issue than anything. I just don't know why your full name is necessary. I guess this comes from my years of working for the state ( community mental health services) but i do agree with you that negative reviews should be included, its important to let others know how the oil performed in candles soap etc. thats just wrong imo to flat out leave the negative one out . plus, I've noticed a trend of people not leaving a review period ....i guess if there was something wrong they would of contacted you idk ??? btw are there any oils that are must haves on there - or ones to avoid ?
  5. great tips, thanks ! I agree about the lids, most people - including myself included, toss or loose them. enjoy the MI sunshine today
  6. As always, thank you for your help, moonshine your so thoughtful + helpful . Glad to know it wasn't just me on those lids being outrageously priced. Yet, I see them being used all of the time, I like the brown rustic from CS as well. oh... the 415, from what I'm understanding that needs to be poured very cool - slushy stage ? well - off to order some wicks
  7. Good morning everyone I received my samples of GB 464 + 415 last week but haven't decided on wicks to test yet. Any suggestions on what type/sizes to get. Im going to use some 8 oz square mason jars/ 3" diameter & some other jars that are a tad wider too - I think some jars I was looking at were 3.5" or slightly smaller ? Also, where can I get the rustic looking lids - the chunky ones that look rusted? Ive seen them on I think soysolutions ??? but they were over $1 a lid - does that sound about right for price ? it just seemed high to me but idk ? Thank you in advance for any help you guys might have to offer
  8. Wow ! Everyones displays are just beautiful ! I also love the candy bar idea - so darn cute ! Trappeur your display is just beautiful, it looks so homey and welcoming I especially live the candles in the crocks, just lovely ! I never had luck wicking vintage items. I noticed most of them had 1 wick may I ask you how you go about wicking them _ what wicks. Maybe I'll give it another shot + see what happens. The pictures must bring you back wonderful memories - just beautiful You guys are really inspiring me this morning. How do you guys go about getting into a craft show - especially the ones during the holidays. Thanks so much for sharing your photos everyone. Love starting Mondays this way
  9. I guess I'm the odd ball here lol ! Im going to try it in a blend with possibly sweet orange ? any suggestions on combos beside Sweet orange ?
  10. jfear in case you didn't see there are 2 different pumpkin pies on there .... candybee said its the pumpkin spice one you'll need for the blend
  11. Candybee I remembering you asking about a few FO from fillmore. I received a few more yesterday so these are just oob reviews. orange pekoe tea - i can't get over how much it smells like the tea, not super strong but VERY nice. butterscotch brûlée was too sweet for my liking but again, very nice + you can really smell the caramel . olive tree - i don't smell the citrus oob as its described but that could change in wax - smells herbal to my nose. oatmeal raisin cookie - to me the apple note is quite strong for an oatmeal cookie - it does smell good though - more like an applesauce cake oob - tiramisu - smelsl very good - you can really smell the amaretto right off the bat. mulberry - idk I'm just not to crazy about it oob but again my opinion might change once i put it in wax.
  12. wow Candybee your kidding me ! I know its popular so maybe i should go ahead + atleast try the honey patchouli . When you add it to your soap, how much patchouli eo do you add. have you ordered from eden botanicals before, i'll have to try out camden grey one day
  13. that actually sounds in line. I just looked on the eden botanicals site + 16 oz of dark patchouli is $90 ...... thats a lot of essential oil though ! Im not sure why i even bought some, I don't care for patchouli at all. but i bought a few 1 oz bottles thinking id use it to blend, but man is it STRONG ! i couldn't imagine someone even coming close to using 1lb in a lifetime . I know its suppose to age well, but idk its just not me i guess + i grew up in the 70s lol ! i buy my EO from them + I've been very happy... they have a great wild orange - has a bit of a grapefruit kick to it .
  14. I bought a sample bags of GB soy - GB 464 + GB 415. I really like the 8 oz square mason jars from CS. DO any of you have suggestions for wicks + sizes I should buy. Ive been reading a lot about the premier wicks on here too + considering give those a try as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Personally, I don't care for the look of candles when they're filled to the rim, it doesn't look as professional, imho
  15. pcbrook ... may i ask what scents in particular you've noticed that have a burnt smell .... very interesting. are any of the oils from fillmore ? i can't tell you how much I've learned from this site in the short time I've registered. thank you to all of you. your opinions + suggestions are greatly appreciated + have been very helpful
  16. You should just go for it ! its a great feeling when you acomplish something for yourself where were you thinking of taking the classes. are they local i know I've gotten notifications from brambleberry - i think they are on-line courses ?? my daughters always taking classes that people tell her that its a waste of her time or she's wasting her money etc .but she takes them for herself ... she's my old soul she loves literature + takes foreign language courses - she speaks 3 languages - besides English fluently and has her masters in art education. she currently teaches kids age 10-13 who are emotionally impaired + come from severely difunctional homes. she's says its a very rewarding job GO FOR IT CANDYBEE !!!!!
  17. I'm like you , love all the fall scents ! I did order the buttercream from Tennessee too along with This Old House and Tangerine dreams .... the tangerine I'm sure will be softer once in wax but oob was sharp but nice I'll have to play with some blends using the buttercream although Im not the best at it what I did blend in a bottle that smells pretty good so far, was Bramblerrys Oatmeal milk + honey with CS macintosh . the oat smell comes thru nicely . I got the idea from a supplier - i think it was rustic esentials ? they have a oats +apples. but the shipping was one of the highest I've seen. But ill probably still get them. I was thinking trying their rustic lodge - birthday cake - toasted marshmallow. has anyone ordered from + tried any of the ones i mentioned. One of my favorites from BB is citrus coconut to my nose its great !
  18. Can you make them with all palm ? I bought the 5 lb sample size( feather palm ) from fillmore does it matter which one you use ? I was amazed at how good the scent throw was with adding so little - after 1 day of making them. I used VBN from Tennessee - LOVE that one
  19. Candy, I agree with Faerywen. I think that you should do it for yourself as an accomplishment, if that makes sense I really don't think the average person cares, I think all they care about is - is it a good, well made product. Because thats the way I look at it. At my local farmers market i always stop to buy my favorite soaps from the same people - i love the way it feels - smells + the ladies are so helpful + appreciative .... I sure don't get that at my local Target lol ! Im a big believer of supporting local business whenever possible
  20. thanks Candybee it seems to also help in making the scent last longer in the melter too .
  21. Fall/ Winter are by far my favorite scents ! For some odd reason Ive never thought about getting the green apple, going on my list. id love to hear about a good cider FO .... i made some melts with Tennessee VBN omg its so, so nice. its not overly yucky sweet .I also got their pumpkin pecan waffle but haven't put that in wax yet. but ooh it smells wonderful. btw .... I've been playing around with wax combos for melts + i added some palm wax - not a lot, to the mix of pillar + some soy - so far Im really liking it. but i think i read on here palm can morph scents after awhile . i wonder if that'll happen since i added very little to the mix ?
  22. Ill have to try Aztec's Baked Apple Pie - sounds wonderful Ive never ordered from them - any other must haves for soy ? your right Old Glory, fall is a short time away + for me, anyhow, testing testing takes awhile fried apple pie ... now that sounds interesting and yummy I've always loved eating at local diners the food is always good and i was raised to always support the small business owner.
  23. oh i forgot about apple maple bourbon - thats a yummy one ! i get a touch of ciderish smell - our noses are all different
