  1. Rosemary Pepper is an awesome herbal in cp. It sticks like glue, no a or d. It seems a little less sharp, for lack of a better word, after cure. I just love it. Ivory Woods...it fades just a bit but it is still nice. I use this one for an all white soap, so I do use just a smidge of TD and I don't gel this one. But even without the TD it doesn't turn dark. Volcano is a citrus, but it sticks well and soaps like a dream. No a or d. The scent stays true. It's a really good seller for me.
  2. This whole thing is weird to me, because I remember when Old Glory was having problems with 6006, and I was buying it from the same supplier at the same time with the same lot #. I ended up ordering a case from another supplier which also had the same lot # as OG's bad wax. Both my cases were fine, as well as a separate slab I also ordered because I was scared to death I was going to get a bad batch. Same lot #, three different shipments among two different suppliers, mine was good, hers was not. So I'm wondering if the suppliers are mixing up the waxes when they are distributing them, or if improper storage or varying environmental conditions can possbily compromise the waxes.
  3. Some that do well for me: Citrus Punch, Tobacco, White Peach and Hibiscus, Forever Red, Alpine Frost, OAK, White Tea and Ginger, Grapefruit Mangosteen, Rosemary Pepper, Ivory Woods, Volcano, Black Sea. I also do a blend of their OMH and Almond that is fantastic. I don't love the Honeysuckle by itself in cp. It sticks very well, just not a personal fave.
  4. If it were me, and the sinkhole is the only issue I was concerned with, I would place in the oven on a cookie sheet on the warm setting just until the wax had melted enough to level out the top.
  5. How about a tobacco? I like Aztec's Tobacco, and RE has one I really like...I think it is their Pipe Tobacco. Not that they are necessarily Thanksgiving scents, but they have a warmth I think of when I think of fall scents. Also, RE's Oak Barrel Cider is very nice. Other scents that come to mind are Cracklin' Birch, Twigs and Berries, something nutty...maybe Chestnuts & Cherries or Chestnut & Brown Sugar. Maybe a Chai. Hmmm....now I'm rethinking my fall lineup. Good luck!
  6. ICS has Cinnamon Glazed Donuts. I haven't tried it, but I do use several of her oils, and she does have some great bakery scents.
  7. I'm voting for PPW, True Lavender, Spicy Apples & Peaches, and Buttercream. I use a dozen of their oils but those four are crucial. I'd love Under the Tree, This Old House, Strawberry Cheesecake, and several others but I can do without the ones I use only seasonally. I don't know what to do without True Lavender. I'm down to about 4 oz.
  8. Wow! Your cabin looks so warm and inviting. Your candles are gorgeous, your flowers are lovely, your labels are top-notch, and your kitty is awesome! I am in awe of everything!
  9. I buy mine from The Flaming Candle. Might want to grab some 44-24's too while you're at it. They'll do USPS shipping, so they are very economical if all you need is wicks. Good luck!
  10. The wicking is very FO specific. For the vast majority of my FO's, I double wick with 36z's. If you are getting a full MP that quickly, I would step it down to 36z's. I only use 44-24's for a few hard to burn FO's. I always, always start with 36z's, and they work for the majority. I have a few scents that require 44-24's. This Olde House, Santa's Pipe, and Blueberry Cobbler are a few that require (2) 44-24z's, and these are all harder to burn FO's in my other applications as well. One thing I have noticed about the harder to burn FO's is that they are the ones that benefit the most from a longer cure time. I do not wick for a full melt pool within the first few burns. There is always hangup until the last 1/3 or so of the jar. Anything else makes the shoulders and rim of the jar too hot for my liking.
  11. When I need to wick up with this combo, the wicks will have super wimpy flames and will eventually drown. When I've overwicked, the melt pool is too deep and the jar gets too hot. You can play around with it a bit by the placement of the wicks. When wicking up, I might place the wicks a little closer together. The placement of the wicks will narrow or widen the melt pool slightly. Usually, when wicking up, I might place the tabs a little closer together to keep the shoulders of the jar cooler. There is a slight difference in the 44-24's and the 44-32's. The 44-32's are always too hot for me in this combo. This jar/wax/wick combo, seems to be very susceptible to subtle changes. Because of that, I decided to only offer this jar with FO's that produce a perfect burn. The ones that are perfect, are 100% perfect, and are among the best candles I have ever made or have ever burned. When it's perfect, you'll know without a doubt. Also, cure time can make a big difference. I am burning a candle today that was made 4 months ago. At the time, I thought it was over-wicked with 2 44-24's, but it is burning perfectly now. The initial test was done after a 1 week cure. I'm getting vastly different results burning today, after 4 months.
  12. I double wick with 3 36z's or 2 44-24z's. I space my wicks with the tabs about 5mm apart.
  13. I use 6006 and double wick most of my apothecaries with 2 36-24-24z wicks. I have a couple of scents that require 2 44z. Bear in mind, there are 44-24-18, 44-28-18 and 44-32-18's. I use the 44-24-18's. With 6006 I find the apothecary a little difficult to wick, and some of my FO's just will not work with either wick in this jar, nor is a single wick ideal. For those FO's, I haven't found a solution, although I assume it would be a different wick type, and I don't want to go there. I've tested single wicking with zincs pretty heavily, and most of the time a single wick, regardless of the size, results in soot, hangup, large flame and/or large mushrooming. I can get a much cleaner burn by double wicking. I don't like it, but that's been my experience. I've been working with 6006 in these jars for almost a year, but I admit I have a whole lot to learn, so take my findings with a grain of salt. I do mason jars sometimes as well, and I don't find that a 16oz mason jar requires a different wick than an 8oz mason jar, but I have not tested the 16oz masons very much. I've just done those for personal use. My problem is I spend too much time changing jars. I'm doing status jars now, and finding them much easier than apothecaries. Never satisfied...LOL.
  14. Very sad. I'm gonna miss them. They were super nice people. I placed an order yesterday to add to my stock until I can find replacements. Unfortunately, I couldn't get everything I wanted because so many were already out of stock. I've got about 20 of their FO's, and I'd consider about 7-8 of those must-haves for my lineup. I'm already down to just ounces in some, and with fall/winter coming, the rest won't last long.
  15. Yep, there is a 36z wick that I use sometimes in small containers. They work great for me with 6006 and easy to burn FOs in jelly jars and even sometimes in 8oz square masons. I've never used the 4 or 6oz tins, so not sure about them. I get the 36z's from The Flaming Candle.
  16. I love RE's Wine by Candlelight. It's my favorite wine FO, not that I've tried that many. It smells true and it has a great throw. The description calls it a Merlot, and like Merlot, it is pretty heady, but it doesn't hit the gag factor for me like some of the others I've tried. I'm interested in their Moscato, and I'm waiting for the sample sale to give it a try. Has anyone tried it?
  17. I love it, so I keep it around, but it doesn't sell very well for me either. We burn a candle daily in our shop. If I'm burning that one, people will remark on it and some will purchase it Otherwise, it just sits on the shelves. I feel like it's one of those scents that more people would love if they'd give it a try. I wish it were skin safe, because I think it would do much better in soap.
  18. The way I look at it, big name retailers ship during summer months, so why shouldn't we? Just pack as securely as possible (I use bubble wrap and foam peanuts and there is a small measure of insulation with that). Supply tracking info so the customer knows when the item will arrive. You might want to add a little blurb saying "wax can become soft or melt when exposed to high temps" or something to that effect in the shipping notification. Otherwise, I don't worry about it, and it's never been an issue for me. I have seen several small businesses post reminders on their FB page about retrieving packages as quickly as possible to prevent melted product, so you might want to do something similar.
  19. I'm not a high volume seller, but for candles, they are my main supplier. I get my wax from them, and I use about a dozen of their scents in my regular lineup. I also buy 16oz square masons from them for our BBQ sauce. Their cost for shipping larger orders is the most reasonable for me. I'm in WV. Shipping takes 2 days to me, and they process orders quickly. Orders by 3:00p.m. ship same day. They are on my route to visit my daughter in NC, and sometimes I am able to pick up orders. Warehouse service is great. I have no complaints at all. I just wish they carried a larger selection of FO's.
  20. Aztec, ICS and Just Scent all carry it. I've only used the Aztec and ICS versions. Both perform well.
  21. Nothing says Pacific to my mind like Cactus & Sea Salt. A scent that I am really digging in CP right now is Black Sea from Aztec. The description reads, "An earthy fragrance of Lavender, Ylang, and Honeysuckle mixed with some green notes and musk and an ambergris bottom note." Sticks like glue.
  22. I haven't used a lot of melon FO's, so I can't speak for them as a group. I do use a lot of CS Honeydew as it is a staple in my lineup. I'm using 6006 and get a great HT at 8%. I'm using 51z zinc wicks, 12 oz status jars with a 8% FO load. I wasn't happy with less than 8%.
  23. Well, I gotta say..... FB's Gypsy Rose is wonderful. Exactly what I was looking for. It did accelerate rapidly, and I barely avoided soap on a stick, but that was partly my fault. Totally worth it. The scent is amazing. Now I'm kicking myself for only ordering 8oz.
  24. The Sweet Pumpkin from RE is very nice. It's pumpkin without the spice.
