  1. I am replacing TCS's Under the Tree with Mistletoe from CS. Not exactly the same, but quite similar. I am guessing the exact match to Under the Tree is probably out there under the name "Mistletoe" something or other.
  2. I have not, but Maple St. has a pretty active FB group. I'm sure you could get a lot of info there.
  3. If you didn't want to use "tea" maybe just call it "Wildflower Bath Soak". Or "Wildflower Bath Infusion"
  4. I heat them in the oven, pour out the wax, wipe with paper towels, wash in hot water with Dawn dish liquid, wipe reasonably dry, and put back in the oven to fully dry......usually done all the while I am melting wax to repour into them. I use my tester containers over and over and over and over. (I also save all the leftover wax in a separate pour pot to reuse for fire starters.)
  5. Thanks for the review, Trappeur. I had the Fraser Fir from WSP on my mind. I love the CS version, and that's what I'll be using since I bought a lot of it. But you know how the mind always wonders if there's something better out there...
  6. Everything looks so nice! Gorgeous soaps, too. I love the rainbow soap and the pink/black/white is lovely. And those candy corn pillars are awesome
  7. Nice looking mold you've got there. I'd say all in all it was a complete success! And now you know exactly how much it takes to do a double batch with both molds. How'd the Cucumber Mint do in soap? I've been meaning to soap with it, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
  8. I ordered 10# of it and just poured a few candles today. I got lucky and got some nice crystals. I was thinking of ordering a case but I'm wondering if it another order could potentially be different and not produce crystals. That would be a disappointment since I want it for sparkly holiday candles. I guess what I'm asking is if it's normal for there to be a lot of variance from one shipment to the next with palm? I didn't do anything different.....heated to about 200, added dye and FO while on the heat, stirred about a minute, poured into jars, and insulated.
  9. Wow...that is crazy! I single wick the cube jar with 60 or 62z. But I don't use your wax. I use 6006. I've never used 4627, but I was always under the impression it would wick smaller than 6006. You learn something new every day! I love Cranberry Marmalade, by the way. Fruits are my favorites. Not so much bakery, but straight fruits...I love 'em. Good luck!
  10. Hmmm......I see what you mean. That might be confusing. I can't do Twilight because I do Twilight Woods which I call Twilight Falls. What to do, what to do....
  11. Ooooo...Vanilla Lace sounds nice, and I think that name would get the point across. I've been pouring nothing but holiday scents today, and I can't seem to get my mind out of Christmas mode. I couldn't come up with anything. Thank you!
  12. Lately, my Vanilla Musk soap is getting a lot of love...in store. However, for the purpose of internet sales, I need to rename it to something that doesn't have "musk" in the name. Nothing with the word musk sells online. I don't mind keeping "vanilla" in the name if necessary, but I don't want people to think they are getting a classic vanilla scent, because it definitely isn't that. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
  13. One thing I have noticed with this wax is that a long cure really does make all the difference, not just in the throw but in the burn. I've had candles I thought were both underwicked and overwicked that burned great after a 2 week cure. There can be a very noticable difference, and to me, this is the hardest part of using this wax...the waiting...LOL. I've tested over 50 fragrances with 6006 and zinc wicks, and I've only had to wick up 2 times. I've never had to wick down. I use 51z for status jars and 44-24 for mason jars. Now if I could just figure out how not to get holes near the wick in the 8 oz mason jars, life would be great! Good luck with your testing. Please keep us posted.
  14. Gorgeous soaps! Hope you feel better soon!
  15. Initially, I was leery of purchasing coconut oil at Big Lots, but when I saw "Columbus Foods" and their address on the label, I purchased it with no hesitation at all. I buy several gallons every time they have it in stock, because it saves on shipping, plus I like the containers it's in. When they don't have it, I order from Soapers Choice. Now, I have hundreds of bars made with no way at all to know what was made with the BL oil and what was made with the SC oil. I keep a good eye on things, and there hasn't been even a hint of DOS in any of my bars, so I think I'm OK to continue to use the oil. This post just made my heart drop a little....LOL. Edited to add: From here on out, I'll make a notation in my notes indicating which soaps are made with BL oil. That way, if anything goes "off", I'll be able to trace it back to this oil and let everyone know.
  16. The Butcher Boy brand coconut oil from Big Lots is from Columbus Foods. I bought 4 gallons Tuesday, and all have ex. dates of 10/2018. Do you think it is a lesser quality coconut oil? Or maybe theirs was near expiration or maybe even a different brand? Just wondering, because I've been using it for a long time and never had an issue. When they don't have it in stock, I order from Soapers Choice. I've never been able to tell a difference in the quality, but if there is an issue, I definitely need to be aware of it.
  17. I was just following along and WOW! Thanks Jcandleattic for that tidbit of info about packing. I wondered why some of mine were spinners and some were not. Turns out, the spinning was a happy accident. I'm stoked to make some more. Now that I've finally figured out how to make decent bombs, I can work on making show stoppers!
  18. Orange Cranberry Cookie (or shortbread, muffin, scone...whatever works). I love happy accidents
  19. I worry about the same thing. I don't know about stearic, but I'd be willing to bet there was nothing wrong with your candle. I think if you get a full melt pool within 2 hours, you'll probably have a container that is way too hot when the candle burns further down into the jar. I use 6006 too, and I wick for the last half of the jar. The downside is that it does take my candles longer to give off a good throw, but the upside is a clean burn, a safe product, and a candle that can be enjoyed in it's entirety. I've noticed that one of the more popular mass produced candle lines have multiple wicks, burn hot as heck, and give a fantastic throw very quickly. They also soot a lot. I'm sure most customers consider them to be excellent candles. Personally, I am a little scared of them because they are hotter than I like. I could produce that product, but I prefer not to for liability reasons. The problem is, I hate that is the standard by which my candles are probably judged....and yours too, it sounds like. My customers are more the power burn type, from what I hear, and that works well with the way I wick. Sounds like your guy is the short term burner type. I don't know if it's possible to produce a product that satisfies both types of burner every single time. So I stopped trying, and focus on making product that satisfies me. I'm rambling and being no help. I'm sorry. That pres. debate has fried my brain.
  20. Interesting. I've never seen it go electric yellow, but it does get very dark pretty quickly.
  21. I use the 16oz Elite jar for bath salts. I dont use them for candles because I find wicking a regular 16 oz canning jar or square mason super easy, so that's what I use for that size. I wouldn't mess with the 8 oz, but I might consider the 16 because I do love the way they look.
  22. The cube jars that were in stock at my Dollar Tree were Libbey. They had the Libbey sticker on the bottom. There were also several other Libbey containers in stock, but the status jars in stock were varied. Some status jars had no sticker on the bottom and some had the Made In Colombia sticker on the bottom. My store had no Libbey status jars in stock and hasn't for a long time. I have heard reports that some DT do have them. IDK. I have ordered from DT online several times. What you get varies. I have ordered and received Libbey's status jar. I've ordered and received the Made In Colombia status and I've also ordered and received status jars with no labels. I assume this means they have several suppliers for this jar, because it all jives with what I, and others, have seen in store. I ordered 2 cases of jars at 4th of July, and what I received were two cases of the unlabeled jars. I had one case of status (and I do not remember which brand - just that it wasn't the Libbey) that had bubbles in the base. Not all of them, just a few and a few had flaws around the lip. Nothing major, and nothing I would hesitate to sale, but the quality was lesser by a degree. I guess you get what you get. From time to time, DT will run a $4.95 shipping sale. It usually coincides with a holiday. The last sale was Labor Day weekend. I usually take advantage of the sale to order cases of things we use at our campground, magic erasers mostly...lol...because they never have as many as I need at the store. I do order the status jars from time to time. I use wooden lids that I purchase elsewhere, so lack of a lid doesn't matter to me.
