  1. There are a lot of threads on here about The Candlemaker's Store and their FOs (especially about their lack of descriptions). As a company, they are great and have some great quality items. Some of their FOs, however, are waaaaaay off. I use many of theirs and have been happy with most, but the ones that were duds were BIG TIME duds and that was most of the BBW dupes I've tried.
  2. I do. Love their oils! I started using them as they carried dupes of Moonworks oils when they closed. Their quality is really good. I use: Merlin's Forest Forest Nymph Sea Witch Cinnamon Sugared Donuts Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake Honey Clementine Fall Festival Goddess Lavender Sage Dragon's Blood Sun and Earth
  3. Awesome! I know they say scent is subjective and everyone discerns fragrances differently and blah, blah. But throw us a bone here! It's very frustrating indeed! And yes, their products are good quality and they have great FOs, but I've been most disappointed with their dupes. Most that I've smelled aren't even close!
  4. TT, Is the Black Vetyver Cafe the same as the Dark Espresso Vetiver from TSW?
  5. I'll do a lb each of sweet amber, Egyptian dragon, inlet lakegrass and provence. If you do start doing smaller sizes, I'd be interested in the pink sugar.
  6. Mahogany Spice is a great fragrance! It's the primary component of my Sherlock Holmes inspired blend, "Baker Street". It's lovely on it's own, but I tinkered with it a bit. I can't leave anything alone.
  7. Moonworks owner, Rhonda, was just notorious for up and closing her business. Then re-opening. Then re-closing. FragranceBuddy has most of her fragrances and I know Pure Fragrance was carrying some.
  8. Pam, the company I've been considering in called Highland Pharms. I've not seen any "free samples" offered on the sites I've been to this far, but I'll definitely keep my eyes open for them. I have RA that is controlled with injections, but I don't like to take them as directed due to side effects. I also have another kind of rheumatism that I take anti inflammatories and steroids for, but again, don't want the stomach issues etc that come with those.
  9. Moonstar, there are special strains of cannabis oil for seizure disorders and they aren't ones you can buy online. They are the stronger strains that are only legal in Colorado etc.
  10. I know Lone Star just debuted a Pumpkin Seeds and Oud Wood scent. I don't see anything glaringly original here, but their site is nice.
  11. Me too. If it has even a hint of cinnamon or spiciness to it, I've got to wick up.
  12. This doesn't answer your questions, Pam, but I'm curious what brand of CBD are you using? I've researched them quite a bit and found there is varying quality among them.
  13. I set my test candles on a candle warmer until I can't smell the fragrance any more, then I pour all my "scrap" wax in a big can. That big can of wax will get used for firestarters.
  14. I have the coconut milk and lavender from JS. To me, it smells just like the the Vanilla Lavender from NG, which is lovely.
  15. I had to cure them a month to get the throw I was looking for. It is a softer scent to be sure, but I don't have to cure any scent for a MONTH to get optimum results. I've not tried the vanilla cardamom, but that does sound good! Some of my usual ones are: Nordic Spa, Cowboy, Sea Petals, Twilight Woods, Mahogany Woods and Windswept Waves. I have some others that I haven't put in wax, yet.
  16. Lonestar has some great oils. Their Egyptian Sheets is a best seller for me in candles and room sprays. It took a longer than usual cure in my parasoy, but it's worth it.
  17. 4625 is very hard. I've done the garbage bag and drop method and the screwdriver and hammer method to break the wax up. Like others have mentioned, I measure my wax into the melter 50% 464 and 50% 4625 (or 4630), then stir it well with a whisk before dispensing into my pour pot. It's just part of my process now, so I don't register it as quite such a pain.
  18. Trappeur, my blend for tarts is 50/50 464 and 4625. My blend for containers is 50/50 464 and 4630. I had so many issues testing 100% soy. I work full time and, frankly, didn't have the time it was taking to fiddle with those issues to make a candle I was happy with. Adding the paraffin helped tremendously with achieving consistent, shorter curing, good throwing, nice looking candles.
  19. I've used the coffee grounds/cinnamon before on tin can candles to make them look rusty/primitive. I've never thought of salt. It's so humid here, I'd be worried it would attract moisture.
  20. Thanks, TT. Is there more to that company name? Fragrance Laboratories pulls up a lot of different specific named companies. Edited to add: I found it!
  21. On a whim, I went to Soapalooza's page and it looks like they are still selling FOs. I know Kelly was changing her business model to where she was only going to do wholesale/large orders, but the page looks like you can order smaller amounts again. Does anyone know if this is the case? I've used a number of her oils since she was Southern Soapers and stocked up when she "closed" awhile back. But if I could get Inishmoor direct from the source, that would be great!
  22. Many of us here do items that are inspired by things we love, but we've given them original names. For instance, I have a Red Witch soap that is GoT inspired and a soap called Baker Street that is Sherlock inspired. Back in the day I had Twilight inspired products. The names gave recognition, but I never used any trademarked/copyrighted images, logos or graphics. I saw a local chandler ignore advice to stop selling candles with college football logos and NASCAR logos/driver likenesses on them. She thought she would be fine because she "wasn't that big a company". She wound up losing her candle company and a lot more.
