  1. I've decided I want to use the bamboo sticks as well. I used to love picking out incense sticks at the record store when I was a teen and that is the vibe I'm going for also. If you don't mind me asking @Hopie where do you sell? I'm wondering what I'm going to do with mine if I like making them!
  2. My husband actually mentioned the PVC pipe idea to me yesterday! Then he was all, "I can build you a stand, so they fit right here and are out of the way". I was like, "Slow your roll, man, I've got like 16 sticks soaking just to play around"! 😏 I haven't made the cones before. I know how, it just hasn't been something I've played with before.
  3. I played around a little before work this morning and have 2 different incense soaking. I tried the Volcano dupe from RE/AH and Dragon's Blood from FB. They should be ready to take out and dry in the morning. I'm so excited!
  4. Minimum of a full day. In the bathroom, I like to use votive warmers/melters. A block or two from a clamshell fits perfectly in the little glass insert. I've had some that still throw, albeit faintly, for up to a week.
  5. Guilty, guilty, guilty! Of all the things confessed here! I have cases of candles that I made to sell or give away, but for whatever reason I've kept them. I have multiple candles in various states of burn on all the mantles in my house. The dining room buffet has candles. The ledge between the kitchen and study has candles. The bar has candles. Bedrooms, bathrooms, the basement rec room, there are so many candles! I often look at the jars with a few inches of wax left and think, "That should just go on the melter to be done with it", but yet, there they sit; mocking me. I too have jars and containers that I bought to "put a candle in someday". Fragrance oils are multiplying and no matter how many times I tell myself to "use what you have before you buy more", I am but a weak mortal with a PayPal account and no self control. It seems we are all in a bit of a pickle.
  6. I currently make loose incense with herbs, resins and essential oils etc. It's great except I don't like the hassle of using the charcoal block to burn it. I'd like to try making some stick incense with my FO's. I've got the supplies, but before I start I was wondering if anyone has any wisdom they would like to impart? Tricks they've learned over the years? Anything. Is it really as simple as soaking an unscented blank in FO/DPG overnight? Are there duds like with candles? Inquiring minds want to know!
  7. I haven't smelled the CS Lavender, but I use Lavender from Brambleberry and it's a herbal/camphor, natural smelling lavender. I have mixed sage FO with that lavender in a pinch when I've run out and it was pretty close. I used to think it smelled like medicine, so I wasn't fond of it, but now I like it. It's a herbal, no frills or perfumy notes FO. It smells very clean to me now. Sun and Earth is really nice. I don't pick up on all the notes that FB says is in there, but it's a nice smelling FO.
  8. The Lavender Sage is very herbal. I wasn't a fan at first but customers loved it and it has grown on me. Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake is nice, I can't remember right off if it's super creamy smelling or not. (I'm at work and can't go check). Fall Festival is one that I've smelled a bunch of times from different vendors under any generic fall themed name. It's cinnamony and spicy, yada, yada. It's nice and I love those types of fragrances, but nothing groundbreaking.
  9. Exactly. Scent is so powerful. I just adore experimenting with it. I mentioned in a previous comment about knowing what needs to be added to an FO to round it out, I also almost always get a "vibe" from an FO that sets me off on a mission to create a blend for it. For instance, my homage to Sherlock Holmes, Baker Street, came about when I smelled Candlewic's Mahogany Spice. A nice FO that instantly gave me a "gentlemen's club" vibe. Not gentlemen's club like a strip club 😃, but gentlemen's club like leather armchairs, wood paneling and older, distinguished men smoking pipes in tweed jackets. So, I added tobacco, vanilla, sandalwood and a hint of bay rum to bring the scent that was in my head to reality. It may sound a little bizarre, but that's how i roll. LOL.
  10. Like others here, my fragrance names don't tell you what they smell like. Some of my blends names are: Baker Street, Airship Captain, Nocturne, Opheliac, Misty Mountain, Wicked Orchard, and Frankly, Scarlet.
  11. I have an old bottle of Cinnamon Stick from WSP that is a nice single note cinnamon. It looks like they don't see one with that name anymore, but they do have a plain Cinnamon FO.
  12. I enjoy topics like this. Too often I see folks using college football logos, NASCAR imagery, Disney characters etc. in their crafts without a clue that is against the law. It is stealing.
  13. https://www.bulkperfumebottles.com/1/6-oz-5ml-to-1-oz-30ml/1-oz-30ml-slim-clear-glass-cylinder-bottle-with-heavy-base-bottom/ Is this the one you were looking at?
  14. Like Sarah, I do almost all custom blends. When I smell a fragrance I almost immediately get a feeling of what it "needs" to round it out. I only do a handful of single FOs, all my others are blends. When someone buys a soap or candle from me, they are getting something they can't get anywhere else. I get a lot of enjoyment from blending and testing and naming. Almost as much as making the items themselves. 😂
  15. You don't have to add the disclaimer. Using the disclaimer is good when you are selling online, so people who have smelled Love Spell or whatever have an idea of what your item smells like. When I did shows and markets people would ask me for Love Spell or Moonlight Path or some other dupe and I would say, "I have my version called (fill in name here)" and let them smell it. I always preferred to rename my dupes and have them be original to my brand. Not associated with another company.
  16. Ooooh! I'd love to see that! I love the way botanicals look in candles.
  17. I bought some Pourette metal pillar molds about 20 years ago. They're really cool and nostalgic. I haven't used them in a while, but still have some of the mold putty I bought then. Yikes! I never tried any of the two part molds, as I was scared of leaking. Milky Way had some that I wanted to try back in the day, too, but I never got the nerve.
  18. I love their Dragonfire and Absolutely Awesome Oakmoss
  19. They just don't perform for me as well as others. I had one that smelled okay in the bottle and then morphed into something resembling vomit once it hit the wax. It was super nasty. Also, they don't post any negative reviews of their FO's. Which I think is dishonest. I do like their room spray base, though.
  20. My PayPal is connected to my checking account, so I suppose it won't work.
  21. of suppliers who doesn't accept PayPal? I don't always shop with my credit/debit card handy. I might be perusing items at 3am while I'm in bed, adding to cart, then boom, no PayPal. *Abandons cart never to return*
  22. I like Nature's Garden, WSP, Rustic Escentals, BrambleBerry, Community Candle and many others.
