  1. Welcome to HELL!!!!!!!! Ahaha, no seriously I don't think you will find anyone anywhere that is going to give you their recipe, there is just too much time and money involved with getting that perfect candle, if there is such thing. What I recommend is starting with 4627 Paraffin wax with LX or HTP wicks, and practice with it till you get it down. Its the strongest cold and hot throwing wax and easy to work with in my experience. Then after the addiction kicks into overdrive, then try other waxes till you get your niche. Good luck on your long and costly journey, there are lots of great Chandlers on this forum that are more than willing to help you out.
  2. Wanted an update from you. Did they sell like hotcakes and which wick worked best for you with that wax?
  3. My best method honestly is to give the candle to a friend or neighbor and let them tell me, because in actuality, they are the customer that will use it how they see fit whether it be a small room or large room. Candle nose is real, so if you make a lot, it gets kinda tough to tell if you are making a good product. I always give them away and tell them to let me know how strong it is, and how the wick performs, how the melt pool is etc. Too me this is the best way but I only speak for myself. Hope this helps and you find out you have been making incredible candles all along.
  4. Only success I have had with 464 is after giving up on it and then lighting a 5 month old candle that looked like canned cauliflower only to find out then that it had great scent throw.
  5. I recently started adding 5% beeswax as the recommendation for coconut 83 to harden it up a little and I am getting perfect jar adhesion so far, but I am using soda koozie can holders to slow the cool. Heating to 200-210 and pouring at 185-190 if that helps you.
  6. Wow maybe a dull pair? I use it for trimming down inside candle and cuts perfect every time except when I accidentally get wax on it then it doesn't work.
  7. I hope you figure this one out because I have been wanting to get that mold for cement jars and I am using 6046 and coco83. You can try to hot glue the wick down and the wick will keep it from coming out, or just don't turn your candles over Did you put a concrete sealer on your jar? If not that might be the problem, or if you did that might be the problem lol you are gonna have to try different ways. Please post a follow up on this one and good luck.
  8. Im finding that the coconut 83 needs a bigger jar. My 8 oz straight side is just to narrow and causes a fast melt pool with every wick I have tried. HTP, LX, and CD. Got some ecos on the way to try them but yah I think wider top jar might be the difference I need. Its very similar to the 6046 just not as white. And wow!!!!! those are some torches up there Alona. Keep posting your results after the wick change.
  9. Was wondering the same thing. I don't see a pull tab to get them out.
  10. This is what I use. Home depot might carry them or any hydroponic store
  11. If what you are saying is you that you are burning the Hurricane wax shell of your candle and you are trying to avoid that, then just use a smaller wick that doesn't get such a large melt pool. I don't know if you are just using 1 type of wick or not, because there are soooooooo many different wicks to test. Good Luck I hope I answered you right, and I am sure someone else will chime in that can better help you.
  12. Laura C. Out of all the coconut waxes you have tried, which has had the best results for you straight out of the box or blended with other waxes? And how was the appearance, any frosting? I saw someone at a farmers market the other day near me that had coconut candles with wood wicks for sale. Cold throw on their wax was not good and their tops were actually frosty like Soy. Didn't ask what they used, but would like to stay away from that.
  13. Gave one of our month old 6046 candles to a friend because at this point my nose and candles isn't good. Its probably better to have a shop to make these in instead of my home so I don't smell candles every minute of the day. Anyways, it was a bamboo lemongrass fo in a 3" tumbler with htp 105 wick. I was told that it was used in their kitchen in a 2 story home. They told me the candle was so strong that they could smell it throughout their upstairs. I was real happy to hear that. Just ordered a sample of coco 83 to try and can't wait to see the difference. I have 1 candle that is 50/50 444/6046 that is still curing that I am curious about the results. But honestly I just don't wanna deal with soy anymore, just trying to use up what I have of the 444.
  14. Its not shocking, its frustrating. They are so close, quick drive for me and you and we still have to buy from another state and pay crazy shipping. Think I was more mad because I just got off the phone with Accublend and could hardly understand the lady because she barely spoke english then when I asked for the free samples that they offer on front page of their website and she told me they never give them out and that they will destroy their existing website. Yes she said that.
  15. I contacted their office in Laguna and they sent me this message. WTF!! I am betting they buy direct from Accu-blend in Azusa Thanks so much for reaching out. I am happy to help! We do not have a storefront at this time. All of our sales are made through our E-commerce website. www.woodenwick.com Thanks so much and have a great week,
  16. Does anyone notice that it says call for free samples? I called them and they told me they never give away free samples and that I cannot buy directly from them that I have to go to cal candle and supplies . Is this place for real?
  17. Very nice setup. I like your label and the paint cans. How is it working out for you on Etsy, are you making money yet? For the $18 price tag, what is your profit after Etsy takes their cut?
  18. Sorry didn't answer this correct, I was answering about the cbl 133 from what it says on the label. I don't know if all paraffin container wax blends contain micro and polymer. There are lots of blended waxes and the companies that make them have their own recipes.
  19. Yes they blend them together. I wish that was my knowledge ahahaha I just copied the info from a candle sight.
  20. Microcrystalline wax is a refined mixture of solid, saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons, and produced by de-oiling certain fractions from the petroleum refining process. Microcrystalline waxes differ from refined paraffin wax in that the molecular structure is more branched and the hydrocarbon chains are longer (higher molecular weight). As a result the crystal structure of microcrystalline wax is much finer than paraffin wax, and this directly impacts many of the physical properties. Microcrystalline waxes are tougher, more flexible and generally higher in melting point than paraffin wax. The fine crystal structure also enables microcrystalline wax to bind solvents or oil, and thus prevent the sweating-out of compositions. Vybar is a polymer
  21. I use the 4627 by itself and mix a little with soy to fix frosting and that lumpy look you can sometimes get. 4627 I use mostly by itself for anything that isn't a bakery scent, because Soy for some reason makes Bakery scents almost seem like you can taste them, it gives it a thick scent which is great.
  22. What amount of candles should you already have ready to ship when you post on Etsy, and will you ship them without being cured in case you sell out fast and still have orders ?
