  1. How long did you let your test wax cure before starting the burn?
  2. Ya they are a few miles from me so I don't have to pay shipping.
  3. Here is a place in Southern Cali where I get mine. https://www.essentialsupplies.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=J08SS&dept=Glass
  4. What is the Fragrance load on that palm wax Candybee? Im messing with 5lbs of the pillar feather blend right now and love it. Want to try the Glass glow soon too.
  5. Yah I do attach them but was just wondering after doing my test candles. Thanks.
  6. Do wicks really need to be stuck down? Was burning some test candles and didn't attach the wicks at base, I just poked a hole all the way down to bottom of jar and put wick in, and done. I read some of you do this on testers. After several days of burning, the candle finally went out and I noticed there was about 3/4 of an inch of wax in container and wick had fallen to bottom. To me this seemed like a good thing in that people couldn't burn it all the way down putting excessive heat at bottom of jar. It also makes it easier to deal with wicks especially if you need a quick wick change, and you can call it a safety candle since it puts itself out when it gets to that point of wick falling over and going out, OR is this a no no? I know this would only work in taller jar candles not tins.
  7. Tall Taylor it says right in the video that it mixes right when you pour. I have seen another video of the machine and it has the bottle of FO on top along with a color bottle with a hose that sucks out what you need. You can clearly see in the below video the FO tube going to the handle. It does not pre mix in the whole storage tank of wax hence the claim that its so fast to switch different fragrances. So that mean it does not mix until it reaches the handle and pour tube. Here is the other video . Haven't found a price yet, it says to call for quote. Imagine anywhere from 3 to 6k I'm betting.
  8. I have one of these insulated food carriers that I use, and you can get a hot plate for them that heats them up and keeps them warm for atleast 4hrs. Anyone tried this for slowly cooling your candles? https://www.webstaurantstore.com/cambro-upcs400401-ultra-pan-carrier-s-series-slate-blue-front-loading-insulated-food-pan-carrier/214UPCS400SB.html
  9. Ok, I have a question about all this. You say heat to this temp, mix FO at this temp, keep mixing for a couple minutes blah blah, then I see this Coogar machine on youtube that does all this for you. Now the problem I am having is this Coogar machine mixes the scents right when it pours into jar, not before. So whats the deal with that, do you really need to mix FO for several minutes or not?
  10. Sorry for the late reply, I just found this forum recently I have been using 70% 464 with 30% 4627 and so far I like it. In a 8oz straight sided jar I am down to a cd10 and an htp83 wick. I think the htp is the one that works the best so far. Both wick burn to the edge of jar in a 2 hr burn may have to go down a size for 3hr but the cd runs hotter with about a 1/2" deep mp and the htp i get about 1/4" deep. I started with the 464 but for the life of me don't understand why people like soy so much. Sometimes looks great but once I get some frosting and use a heat gun it it looks worse, but then again I am not as experienced as most of you. Add a little 4627 and completely different beast. Very smooth tops and coloring is improved. Better HT than just 464 by itself. I am going to switch to 444 because of temps we get here in summer and temp wise seems a better match and yes still gonna mix it with 4627. Would love to hear your results if you are still using it. I also love just the 4627 by itself much better, but with all the soy people that were brain washed into thinking paraffin is going to kill you I make both.
  11. Nice. We are in Westminster, grew up in Huntington. Came there as a kid when it was all farms everywhere. Went to Ocean View High school. You are lucky to get out to another state. We want to move but all my work is here . I am a Contractor that builds Kitchens. Like I said this was supposed to be my wifes hobby
  12. My name is Ernie, I am out here in Orange County California and have just recently started making candles a few months ago. Was supposed to be a hobby of my wife, but somehow I am the one doing all the research and candle making. Not sure how that happened, Oh ya my wife is too lazy to do the research Anyways I am on here seems like every day learning from all of you so I thought I would join. Looking forward to future posts.
