It makes perfect sense. This is exactly the type of feedback I'm looking for. As a sniff-a-holic I'd like an everlasting gobstopper (Willy Wonka reference) of fragrance lol For the home, realistically I'd like something to last an entire day continuously, ideally 2-3 days and ultimately a week (wishful thinking lol) For car fresheners, most people go awhile changing their freshener long after the scent is gone but it'd be nice for something to last more than a week. Changing it out/refreshing something twice a month would that be a realistic ask/want?

Oh good idea!! I wonder if that would work with the smoke and odor eliminator fragrance oil 🤔

@Shari Thanks so much for the info. I did some googling as well and found out about pigment powder as well. I’m new to all of this so experimentation is the part of the game I’m in right now lol My focus is aroma ornies which I know takes liquid dye and crystal potpourri which I love how the powder dye and mica doesn’t fade when placed in a wax warmer like liquid dye was doing on me. I just didn’t want all my potpourri to me shimmery like the mica for buyers that don’t like shimmer.

I bought some mica from WSP, I bought the sample pack and all the colors have shimmer. I’m looking to color non wax items with a powder color dye that doesn’t have any shimmer, are there any mica options? If not, any suggestions?

How long would you expect wickless items you purchased to last before you have to refresh or replace for an average sized room? ETA: Sorry I guess I should clarify, wickless meaning items that are wax melts...so I probably should’ve said waxless lol

Holy scent batman lol So question for you all as I'm just starting out with trial and error/testers for my friends to test. I'm curing crystal potpourri and have been doing the scents one by one in an open sterling silver bowl for the salts to "dry" and absorb the fragrance oil overnight. One day my home smells like clean linen, the next pink berry & tonka, now today it's pumpkin spice lol So is there a way to "cure" and dry out the salts more than one fragrance oil at a time? If so, what methods are best? Will the salts absorb in a mason jar like aroma beads do? Thanks for any input!

I'm going to keep playing around with them because I like the look of the salt crystals over aroma beads. I bought some dendritic salt to mix in to hold the scent, I read it can help. We'll see.

I think you’re right about similarity to candle throw in summer, this morning I smelled them just fine in my son’s bedroom when I opened his bedroom door this morning but didn’t smell anything (same scent) in my car this morning. I even tried to use Aztec Black Ice FO in my husband’s car with a 0.25oz/1lb ratio and didn’t get the strong “scent tree”smell I imagined would happen.

I'm using solar salt from the home improvement store and fragrance oil from RE. I mix 1lb of salt with 10-25% fragrance oil in a Recycle #5 container. I let it sit overnight then I've place it in a dish and also in muslin satchets for the car. Initially putting it in the dish or bowl it smells amazing but in the car, kid's bedrooms or bathroom, I can't smell anything. What am I doing wrong? Should I be letting the salt air dry once I mix the fragrance oil in on a flat cookie sheet before storing it in the container? I thought this was going to be simple and kind of expected some trial and error with ratios but not the method (wasting fragrance oil is expensive), I don't want to give up just yet. Also, any recommendations on where I can purchase the bigger salt crystals?

Thanks! @TallTayl It’d be nice to not have to use it budget-wise. Any extra penny saved is a penny earned. @ncraiders I definitely plan to try both and see what happens. My plan is to trial: Salt, mica, fragrance oil Salt, mica, glycerin, fragrance oil Salt, liquid candle dye, fragrance oil Salt, liquid candle dye, glycerin, fragrance oil I’ll definitely come back to this post and report back.

Newbie here with a question. I’ve read varying recipes for the scented salt crystals and have not been able to find any info on the validity/need of glycerin to be added for the rocks to hold the scent. Sometimes, in certain temperatures and environments, glycerin tends to make things constantly feel wet. Any my advice or opinions on this?
