  1. Wait, not the Satsuma guava scent, my favorite was the plain Satsuma scent from The Scent Works. I need to go to bed.
  2. Sometimes it's those single-note type scents that seem to be the hardest to find. So I like Juicy bits of orange from Genwax for mixing. My absolute favorite "orange"-type scent was the Satsuma guava from The Scent Works. RE/AH has a Satsuma guava similar but a little sweeter and less complex (I'm contradicting myself--wanting single note but loving the complex in this one). I've read previous posts and I'm not even sure that straight orange is what I'm looking for so here goes. An "orange" scent--no vanilla or spices, I want it to be tangy (is that even a description for a scent rather than a taste?), no bitter/sharp pith notes, no "green" notes per se, and without a lot of sweetness like a candy. I was thinking what I'm looking for may even be a tangerine, blood orange, mandarin type of scent so it would be more like TSW Satsuma scent that I loved. It's fine if it's for candles but I want it also to be for bath and body products because I use the juicy bits of orange from Genwax for mixing for candles and, although it's a really good straight up orange with less fuel notes when burning, it's still just a bit too sweet for my taste for b&b stuff. Just think, if I could find that perfect cinnamon, mix it with that perfect orange/tangerine/mandarin/Satsuma, wouldn't that make an awesome Christmas scent (for candles, of course)? Anyone out there found that perfect orangy/Satuma"y", tangy, only mildly sweet, non-bitter fo? Whew!
  3. Ok, so my absolute favorite straight cinnamon for candles was from Tennessee, second was Steve’s at the Candlemaker’s Store. I tried burnin’ love cinnamon years ago from Bluegrass (now at RE/AH); although a nice scent I got wick clogging no matter which wicks, and when I cut back on the scent to solve the wick problem, it just wasn’t’t strong enough. So, here’s what I’m looking for—no fruity/woodsy/citrus blends, not sweet like red hots (although that would be fine if it’s not too sweet), but a really good straight up cinnamon with excellent throw at a low enough percentage to avoid the wick clogging issue. (I’m not asking for much, right?). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Since I've been gone for a long time, thought I would post on this one. Santa's Spruce from Brambleberry is consistently my personal favorite. I would also add Tennessee's cinnamon stick, but, alas, it is no more.
  5. So very nice to be back here on the forum. I've missed everyone very much! OK, first my background: I haven't been on the boards in a looooooong time. I used to make candles but now only make them for myself and family (can't help myself--I've gotta make 'em) due to the cervical spinal surgery I had in 2012. Dr. told me no more carrying cases of wax, candles, etc., so no more craft shows. Soon, I will have to have another spinal surgery but on the lumbar spine. So, here I am on the B&B board. I had also made M&P soaps and lotions pre-surgery. I bought some ButterEZ from Lotioncrafters and planned on using it to make something, but I don't remember what. (Yeah, it's been THAT long and I know it's a discontinued item now). Can and will any of you generous and experienced crafters please tell me what I need to use this stuff for and how to use it? Thank you so very much for your help. Oh, the main reason I came to the board is because I want to make myself some perfume and lotion bars. Found great info. on some lotion bar recipes, but am still looking for perfume recipe. I have the body safe FO, Everclear, distilled water, and glycerin. Is that all I need for the perfume? Thank you ALL! (also posted on recipe forum)

  7. My favorite is Lone Star's gingersnap--it really does have the snap/sharp spicy notes, which I LOVE! I also really love ICS Gingerbread (Snowtops), which is very similar to LS gingersnap.
  8. So glad their website is up! I love cinnamon stick, spicy apples & peaches, peach magnolia raspberry, apple cinnamon, VBN, spiced cranberry--wish they would bring back cinnamon frosting.
  9. OK, I've pretty much done all the above over the past 14 years. Like Candybee, I had some wax spill on my kitchen floor--it was brown and gimgerbread scented. Paper towels & heat gun were my friend. When I pour, I always put a huge plastic drop cloth on the floor, so when I forgot to close the spigot, the wax ran onto the drop cloth and I caught it before I lost alot of wax. I feel among friends LOL
  10. I just noticed Fragrance Buddy has a spiced pumpkin cider.
  11. Thanks for the advice OldGlory. Forgot to mention I am using a parasoy. I don't know if I'll ever get this container wicked properly to burn all the way to the bottom--if not, I'll just use them for myself. Got the containers on clearance after the holidays a while back so don't have too much $ invested in them. But man, they sure hold a bunch of wax!
  12. It's the large clear thick glass pumpkin and holds 70 ounces of wax. I've got some CD wicks--I'll try them out this weekend and aim for a full melt pool at 4 hours. Thanks y'all!
  13. I didn't see Black Irish on Backwoods' website--does she remove the fo when it's out of stock or am I just not seeing it?
  14. Ok, I know the standard in achieving a full melt pool is 1 inch for every hour the candle burns but what about a container that's 7 inches in diameter? The standard is not practical here because most people don't have time to burn their candles for 7 hours every time they light it, so how fast should it burn to get a full melt pool? I've tried 4 wicks (Premier 795) and got a full mp in only 2 hours so am changing to Premier 785 to see what happens. What do you guys think? Thanks!
  15. Loved the subject line, too--I've done that kind of thing many times, glad I'm not alone LOL! I haven't mixed c-3 with paraffin but in the past, I have mixed c-1 with paraffin and it did improve scent throw and prevented frosting. Sorry, don't know if that helps you at all.
  16. Yes Candybee, I took your advice several years back and did the 50/50 blend and it was so nice. Tell me, what's the difference between Backwoods' Black Irish and GIT?
  17. Ditto what Belinda said--I've got WAAAAAY more scents than I'll pour right now but just keep looking and ordering--once an FO junkie, always an FO junkie!
  18. Love coffee bean from ICS--good alone and as a mixer. I just received perfect coffee from Genwax but haven't gotten it in wax yet.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, AAA took over Taylored Concepts fragrances. I tried ordering from them once and no one ever responded to my questions. That was a few years ago.
  20. Thanks guys! I think I may actually have a sample from OT somewhere--I need to check. Saw some others at Sweetcakes I'm interested in and will add GIT when I order.
  21. i loved GIT from Scentworks but since I can no longer depend on them was wondering if y'all could recommend another one that is true and strong. I'm going to use it in a parasoy blend for candles and maybe a few B&B products as well. Thanks!
  22. Spiced cranberry, Yuletide, mulled cider
  23. I have jars similar to those and use Eco 16 wicks in a parasoy blend. I may go down one size just to compare as the flame gets a little tall with the Eco 16 but I get a good burn with it an hardly any mushrooming.
  24. I like cranberry alone or any combo with a good tart cranberry (spiced cranberry, orange cranberry, cranberry apple, etc.), raspberry guava, peach-magnolia-raspberry, strawberry melon. I'm sure there are more but that's all I can come up with at the moment.
