  1. I got bead crimpers from the jewelry section at Michaels. They are smaller than the electrical crimpers and easier to handle. And, yes, you need to crimp higher on the neck to prevent the tab from bending.
  2. I put them in individual cello bags and store them in #5 ziploc containers. I've had some for 2 years. Most sell quicker! I use the Stretch Magic .7mm jewelry cord (translucent elastic). I'm in KY and the only time I had one melt in the car was when I trapped it between the window and the sunshade. I also have a few suction cups at shows and tell people they can hang them in a sunny bedroom window. I used to do this to my son when he was a teenager. ha! The warmth of the sun brings out the scent.
  3. I had 2 shows back to back last weekend. Did Ok at the first; not as good as last year. The second was my 9th year at this show. I always do well and have many repeat customers. I walked it to set up and found that I had been moved from my usual spot to a spot in the corner! I went and found the organizer and she said I didn't say I wanted the same spot as last year. I always check that! Turns out it wasn't on the application and you had to write it in. Sneaky people. But, they did switch me back to my usual spot and I was grateful. Had my best show ever there. Funny thing is usually ornies fly off the rack so I made tons! Sold a few - pillars were moving this year. Go figure.
  4. I have a metal slotted spoon that I use for stirring. When I need to speed up cooling, I stick the spoon in the freezer for a minute. It helps a lot. I would think if you used a water bath it would have to be alternating...in for a bit and stir; out for a bit and stir. That would allow for more even cooling.
  5. That's what I have, too, Vicky. I've used it for years. I have some sheets of poly carbonate that I cover the boards with so it cleans up nicely.
  6. that was worth the wait! beautiful. I love the colors
  7. I'm confused - they don't add any of those yucky additives to their candles yet they have baby powder scent. Where can I get some baby powder essential oil?
  8. Not nearly as pretty as some of the CP you all show, but I'm pretty proud of it. And, oh my, does it smell good!
  9. Welcome Justin! This board means so much to so many people and we are grateful for your help. Alan, you did a great job bragging (and trying to embarrass) your son. We miss you around here!
  10. I've been pouring candles since 2005 - it was bound to happen. Last week I got near the bottom of the presto so I just emptied it and wiped out all the floaters. I filled it back up with 4 pounds of wax ready to go again. I turned it on tonight and went upstairs when my daughter called me. Yep. I forgot to close the spigot! Thankfully, I had also scraped my table so it was clean. All I had to do was scrap up about 3 pounds of wax and put it back in the pot. sheesh!
  11. I don't make many 6" anymore. They just don't seem to move. 3" and 4" are my most popular.
  12. I'll be the weird one here...I've used ModgePodge to seal tins. I'm actually burning one right now that I poured oh...six years ago. No problems.
  13. I'm not even sure where to post this, but I thought we had a listing of member websites. I want to shop and would rather shop with people that I can "check out". Etsy is full of scary looking posts.... Georgia
  14. I've never smelled them in the oven. Do not put them in the freezer to cool, however! I've heard people get a toaster oven just for ornies, but i think in the big oven any residual smell is just burned off.
  15. Love them but especially the berry! Isn't it fun to see what comes out of the mold?
