  1. That was done as an ice pillar right Candy?
  2. You could always do an ice pillar with white wax and then fill with black wax... Or you could take some black wax and somehow try to affix it to the inside of the mold, and then do an over-pour, or you could do a black chunk candle with a white over-pour. However, that one you would have to have oblong and odd shaped chunks. I say the ice candle would probably be the best way to achieve it.
  3. I've not used it. Not sure what it is actually. Apparently I am behind the times!! LOL
  4. I'm one that doesn't take temps, but when someone is knew and starting out, I would NEVER advise them not too. And as Vicky said at craft shows, where you are a vendor, it can be worse. People think all they have to do is pour potpouri scent in melted wax and add a string for the wick and viola, they have a GREAT candle... *sigh*
  5. The cups were only $1 each at dollar tree (can only get them during summer though) and the straws were in either a 4 or 6 pack for a dollar at the same place in assorted colors. I think you can also get the bath beads from there as well, but can't remember. These were some I already had lying around. Oh and poufs - you can get them there as well, or sometimes at Wal-mart for $1.
  6. Thanks. The blue in the actual soap batter will hopefully turn back to the color of the snowflake. It smells really good!! Thanks - they are a LOT smaller than I had anticipated (which is why I only made a little 1lb batch) and take a lot of work to actually use, but it's worth it I think.
  7. Here is my Snow Witch made with Blue and White with snowflake embeds. I used .5oz ppo and a smidge - like .05oz ppo of Purely Peppermint added to give it a "fresher" scent and to change it up just a bit from my Rocky Mountain Snow soap. It smells fabulous and looks good. (IMO) This is a little 1 lb loaf.
  8. Yep, that's it. I use a silicone, and the only way you are going to get that tab off is with pliers (yep, I've tried) and even then it sometimes doesn't work...
  9. OHHHH you could use them all and call the line "Christmas Card Candles"
  10. LMAO I laughed so hard at myself and the mold when I opened my mail today. The package they put the mold in is about the size of a deck of cards - the mold is a tiny bit bigger than a half dollar piece, and the snowflakes themselves are about the size of a dime - maybe... However, I will say this - they are easier to pour and make a better shape and are better made than the one in that first pic I showed and will work well enough in my little 1lb mold that I use for my "kids'" soaps. Or my "Little Hands" soaps (although a soaper friend of mine uses that term - that's where I actually got it from - so I won't be calling the line that, I'll have to come up with my own name" If I end up making soap tomorrow morning before I leave for the oral surgeon's I will take a pic of the mold and the embeds it makes (I've already made about 5 batches of them) and I will put something next to them to show you the relative size. It's pretty comical...
  11. I have about 10 of these little Ice Cream cups with matching spoon straws... I should make up some bath bombs, make up some kids scented lotions and make a few of these. I know my nieces and nephews sure liked them when I gave them each one for Christmas they year I made these. And they are relatively easy to make and fun.
  12. I hate it too. My teeth are so bad, I should just yank them all and get implants! UGH It's not as if I don't take care of them either. Just genetics I guess. My mom's side for the most part all have bad teeth too. Oh well, I'm getting it taken care of now so it doesn't break off worse. anyway... One of these days I may try lip balms again. My first attempt years ago was an utter failure and I haven't ventured into them again. It might be time. I have a 5lb batch of lotion that I need to separate, scent and bottle up for my show next week. Not sure when that's going to get done. Maybe Friday? IDK....
  13. Oh but are you asking which one for all the christmas scents? Hmm, I would say either #2 OR #6 (But I love whimsical snowmen more so than the average person, so #6 might not be a good choice for all of them) #2 or #4. However, #8 is more closely related to your regular labels, and you might want to go with that one for continuity.
  14. Good luck! My shows start up next weekend and go pretty much either every weekend or every other weekend until the week before Christmas...
  15. Same here! I seem to be more productive when I have an empty house than with people there - even though when I'm in the basement nobody comes down there, so it's no different - but yet, it is... LOL And even though the house will be empty this weekend, I think it will be a good weekend for rest since at this point I really have no idea how I'll feel...
  16. Is anyone doing any weekend playing around with either wax or oils? (Candlemaking or Soapmaking?) Unfortunately I will most likely not be doing much. I have to go get a back tooth (back molar) pulled tomorrow and don't anticipate really doing much of anything over the weekend. I typically never have problems with dental work (had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at the same time, and 2 other teeth pulled at various times) but you just never know. So IF I feel up to it, I will make something simple, because I don't want to be in the middle of something intricate and all of a sudden feel like crap. LOL I will probably get my craft show kit put together this weekend. That's relatively easy with just folding boxes and boxing up everything that is cured, poured, labeled and ready to go. Getting all my business cards/hand outs ready, stuff like that. This will be the first time ever I have a banner for my table, so I'll have to try and figure out how to attach that and make it look decent. But, anyway, I want to live vicariously through you guys. So... What do y'all have planned?
  17. The sale is going on now through the 27th. Just an fyi for those that don't get the newsletter.
  18. Well, I figure since the Rockies are only about 50 miles away from me, the name is fitting.
  19. I like Rocky Mountain Snow, so I'll stick with that name for these. (edited to add - I thought I had told everyone that name for these, but apparently not - sorry!! This one is called Rocky Mountain Snow! ) However could use a naming convention when I make the blue/white with snowflakes one with this same scent (maybe added a touch of peppermint), but I have no idea about names from that movie. I have not seen that movie. I could go on a big long rant about OUAT and that movie - but I will spare you all. LMAO (I'm sure it's a great movie, I just have not seen it yet)
  20. Great!! If you have any questions, either let me know or ask on the board and someone will help you out.
  21. Thank you Trappeur. To me it smells like a sweet crisp/cool evergreen, pine but not overpowering. I am horrible at naming scents. As soon as they cure out, they will be available. So the first week of November they will be ready.
  22. I tried installing her at work and they have it blocked. which is weird, they don't block anything... I need to talk to my IT guy and see why it's blocked. UGH I appreciate your help. Thank you!
  23. And gimp is free? I may have to download it just so I can play around. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, and with a steep learning curve, I may not be able to get it right away (which is why I wanted something inexpensive or free! LOL) but I can play and learn as I go... I'll look into Picasa too, because well, you know, it's free too! LOL Thank you TallTayl...
