  1. I'll keep that in mind if I switch where I buy my labels. Thank you!
  2. Thanks everyone. I've been using this logo on kraft labels for long time now (probably about 8+ years), but it's just time to "upgrade" the look of my labels. I will work on getting the colors of the added words the right shade. Tappeur - yes, the name of the scent is Christmas Splendor. That was just an example I used for the sake of putting a scent name in there. It's still a work in progress, but I appreciate everyone's input. I will work on the centering of the verbiage as well.
  3. How about this one? It's the 4x2 sized one - same size as current but with the added tag line and the website at the bottom instead of under the words "The Candle" (which is where it is currently located) Smaller_Labels.pdf
  4. That black line actually is the border and would show up on the label - it hugs the label edge. It's hard to tell on the template, but yeah, I was thinking the same thing about a border... Maybe I need to make it thicker?
  5. I think it's all a moot point anyway... I just checked and that template is too big for my jars. It's back to the drawing board. :-/
  6. I make/sell lotions, but the label is different. It does have my logo as well, but not the tag-line. And I put on those "Luxurious Handmade Lotion" with all of the INCI ingredients listed on the back label. I don't think I will add the tag line to the lotions, and I probably would't add the B&B to the candle/soap labels.
  7. I usually get my labels from here - http://www.brownkraftlabels.com/ and get the standard kraft brown labels. I made the template using Maestro and they will give me a code to print them without the watermark caution if I buy from Online Labels. I haven't decided yet... My current labels are also on the kraft brown, just the 4x2, but they only have my logo, scent name and weight of the candle. I KNOW (by law/regulations) you are supposed to put your address, but since I do not have a brick & mortar, and haven't gotten a PO yet, I kind of refuse to put my address on my labels. (I've had a stalker in the past - it is not a pleasant experience, and rather frightening to put your actual physical address on things, ESPECIALLY when there are children living there) I do however put my phone number on the bottom with the caution label, and my website and phone number is on the handouts I give out with EVERY purchase. Speaking of website - should that also go on the labels you think? I keep debating on that as well. Maybe in place of the physical address I'll put the website? I just don't know. I hate decision making!! LOL
  8. Trying to redesign my labels to make them a bit more professional looking. It won't be a complete redesign, but one that will just "upgrade" my look, so to speak... I'm trying to figure out if I should add the words "Quality Handmade Candles and Soap" under my logo on my candle labels? It's my tagline on my website, and I have it added to my business cards and banner, so wouldn't it be logical to add it to my labels? Or not? I'm also thinking of making my labels bigger. Right now they are the 4"x2" shipping labels, for my 16oz and I can't remember the size for my 5oz, but am thinking of going to the 4x3.33 for my 16oz if they fit. I wish I had a pic of my current design. Not sure if this PDF will upload, but this is what my proposed design will be. Can you tell me what you think? These will be printed on Kraft brown labels. Too generic? (the net weight and address is a generic just for a place holder affect) (PS when I get home I will show you my current design) The_Candle_Attic_labels.pdf
  9. I think some are, but I think the SFIC brands are a more natural type. I'm sure someone who works with it on a more regular basis can answer better than I can.
  10. I just can't physically use it. Even the very good brands such as the sfic ones, leave me dry, itchy, and flaky. I will put in CP as embed toppers, and can use those once in a while. I think the CP combats a lot of it, but sometimes not.
  11. That's cool. I love M&P over pours. I just wish I could use M&P more regularly.
  12. I love it. Very exotic. I think it's described as Amber/Sandalwood - IDK if it necessarily smells like that, but it definitely smells good. Subtle, but alluring and, well, exotic! LOL
  13. I love love their Peacock mica - but that is my favorite color, so there is that. I also like their Tempest - gives a great muave, and when mixed with You're turning Violet Violet - you get a gorgeous purple. There is one of their yellow's (I'd have to check my notes) it's a brilliant yellow however, it morphs orange in the wet soap, but after saponification it turns back to the beautiful yellow. It's freaky at first and you think your batch is ruined, but don't panic! It's not, it will turn back. I've tried almost all of their mica's and a few of their glitters and I haven't been disappointed in any of them except the grape nehi - I didn't use enough and it went grey (like typical purple's do) I also like their scents. I think my favorite from them so far, is Golden Embargo (oob - haven't put it in soap/wax) and Dragon's Blood (haven't soaped it but in wax it is DIVINE - and the best DB I've personally ever smelled) I really like the Snow Witch also. Smoke and Mirrors gets RAVE reviews, and it probably is a good scent, it's just not my type of scent. It is nice and strong and behaves well, I just don't personally like the way it smells. Hedonic Tonic is another one that gets rave reviews, but to me it smells like bathroom cleaner, LOL but performs like a dream in CP @ RT. Those are all I've tried in scents so far. Oh and their Them apples. It's a good apple-y scent, but nothing brilliant. Just a typical apple scent. HTH
  14. I have loved all of their micas I've tried. Their glitters are good too. basically everything I've gotten from them has been good. Candybee - their white glitter is like an iridescent glitter, and it does reflect different colors.
  15. It's not state law, it's national corporate law. (I'm not saying that right, but ykwim)
  16. If she is selling them, then yes, she needs to have a resale license for the merchandise, or risk getting fined.
  17. I don't use them because they are so hard to get a gel in them. Which makes the soap softer and harder to un-mold. I would use a recipe that is high is stearic and then add some SL up to 3% to help with un-molding. Also, use a tiny bit of mineral oil on the mold to also help with un-molding but not too much or it will create pits in the design on the soap. HTH
  18. Exactly what Candybee said. Looks like there isnt' enough of a shell and the further down you go, you may end up getting a blow-out. You're on the right track though, keep on truckin'!
  19. I use the handle of a wooden spoon to stir. I have been using he same one since the day I started making candles 15 years ago. I love it. One paper towel to clean it in between all of my different colors/scents. One of the best candle tools I've ever had...
  20. Yes, when you said Jagger with a fat lip, I thought of him. (he's hockey and last name Jagr and my son plays ice hockey so my mind automatically went there) Did not even occur to me until right this second you probably meant Mick Jagger. LMAO Soo - oops on me! HAHAHA
  21. I use a 24ply in my 3" paraffin pillars, and I only hug at the end of a 3 - 3.5 hour burn. Maybe try hugging less, only doing it at the end of the burn and see how that works for you. If you want to try a different wick, I would try wicking up first to maybe to consume more of the wax for less hugging. However, you may end up with a blow-out with a bigger wick. A smaller wick might leave too much of a shell. Testing - isn't it fun?
  22. The only time I hug my pillars is at the end of the burn after I blow out the flame. I hug it and then let it set up for the next burn. If I had to babysit the candle more than I do (taking the correct necessary precautions around an open flame) then I would consider the test a failure and redo the wicking. They look to be burning fine to me, but if you are playing with them that much, you might consider a different wick.
  23. Mine don;t but I don't use straight paraffin, - well, it's paraffin, but blended. I use either the Pre-Production paraffin that C&S carries or I use 4625. . Straight paraffin will soot on me if I use a full 6% scent load, no matter what wick I use. With straight paraffin I try to keep my scent load at 3-4%. That will usually cuts way down on and/or eliminates any sooting I get.
  24. I'm kind of with ChrisR on this one. I've never stirred for more than 10-15 seconds. If it's a heavy FO (such as a vanilla or something) I will cut back on the % added, and maybe stir for the full 15 seconds, but yeah, I've never stirred for a full 2 minutes. Even when I started making candles. I always figured stirring that long would make the wax cool too much in the pour pot and not in the jar/mold.
