  1. But what happens when you are WIHO and FOHO. I confess my stash of wicks is quite large now 😳 Just got new FO’s this week and samples. Someone stop me!
  2. Amazon basics dog pads. Absorbent on top, plastic on bottom.keeps messes contained. I use them for all my crafty things. Also freezer paper on a roll and get a dispenser. Cannot live without. Plastic sparkle knife to scoop off wax drips off counter where wax magically appears when working. Clothes super dawn, resolve. Di limolene. Also put towels in bucket and use dish detergent tabs to soak with super hot water. The dish detergent breaks down wax and oils really well. Do not buy the dog pads locally they charge too much get em cheap at amzn.

  4. Go for two inches tall. One inch is going to melt down super fast, and it doesn’t look like much candle. You might want to wick down as tins heat up fast. Or mix 4627 with some soy and slow the burn down.
  5. That is a BIG candle to start with. My advice get some straight side jelly jars. Pick a wick group. Now test with your wax until you can master that jar, wick, and wax combo. This will teach you about all of the above, then you can move on to larger jars as you will know how everything works. This all changes when you try different fragrances mind you. Most wicks stop working well at 3 inches. There are large ones you can use as a single wick but they burn like tiki torches. You can double wick but that’s another testing story.
  6. A/B testing A. Control candle no fragrance B. Control candle fragrance You can do this with additives as well. A. Control candle no additives B. Control candle additive plus fragrance. You don’t have to pour an entire candle for testing as it can get expensive when you start testing fragrance. do a half container worth, or get smaller jars same width. I use four ounce jars for testing and keep them in a box to see how they cure, and revisit the burn. Everything marked on back candle wax, wick, fo load, pour temp.
  7. I think you mean tunneling. That’s when the wax doesn’t burn completely side to side. You have tunneling in second one with eco. Try eco 14. So you have two different opinions on testing wax. Wax is still meant to have fragrance in it. You can do a test with fragrance and one without with same cd and eco wicks and determine yourself.
  8. I would say that material is probs not good for melts. Made for food, not things like fragrance oils. You could try some, and sit with a couple containers for months and see what happens. You should try citrus oils, and then others. Citrus oils synthetic and natural love to eat plastics.
  9. This would be personal taste. There are so many versions of Tuberose, you will have to test and also what you like may not blend with the ylang you have etc.
  10. I purchased some roll on bottles from Saks that were styrene, and fragrance diluted in them immediately ate away at the material tops literally fell off. So learned a lesson testing.
  11. You need to put fragrance in. It makes a difference with the burn, softens up the wax and the wicks you think are duds will work better. The fragrance oil softens up the wax. Candle wax is designed for that addition. Also C3 is a harder wax so you have to wick up. try with fragrance eco 12 and 14. Do not use a fir, Mint or heavy vanillin fragrance to test as they are harder to wick.
  12. I purchased NG Gardenia. OOB not strong like CS Gardenia original. Have put in wax, but does not have that great fragrance.
  13. You might have to blend to get what you want. Maybe take ylang and Tuberose to round it out.
  14. I am so upset CS decided to stop with their Gardenia. I thought it was one of the better out there. Strong and creamy. I have tried NG Gardenia, and one from Aztec and those are very light in comparison. I saw that CS has a replacement that is Gardenia Tuberose, anyone try it?
  15. Too bad about that Apple blossom! It’s really a pretty scent. Trying to figure out a use for it as it’s quite light.
  16. Here are some clean up options Amazon basics dog pee pads. Absorbent on top plastic below. I use these for soapmaking and candle making. All done just toss and they are pretty cheap. Or garbage bags cut up line counter, not absorbent but do protect. Use chuck. Silicone Mats a la Amazon. Big enough for counter. You do have to wash them down after use, but they do protect your nice counters. Instead of stove if you like your hobby and want to become more invested in it. Purchase a presto pot, and a pouring pot. use the presto pot as a double boiler instead of stove. Why? You have a thermostat on the presto-pot which you don’t have with using stove. Plus it will keep your stove clean and you won’t have family yelling at you for doing crafts in the kitchen. Plastic putty knife helpful for whoopsie moments that land on the floor or uncovered kitchen surface.
  17. I know this from creating product lines. You need a story and a spin. So what can you make into you story? Why did you create the candles? Why do I want your candles? Is there a cause your line cares about? Benefits of candles in tines versus glass? All this stuff will help you. Yes, and I hear you with the student $$.
  18. Yes you could try the largest htp but that does not give you wiggle room for tough fragrances. You could easily double wick and get a nic burn. You could try csn wicks as well. I found above 3 inches single wicks konk out.
  19. Etsy LOVES cats. So I would create spiel about being a cat and animal lover. Are your candles vegan, you can spin that there too. you need a burn shot somewhere Maine - like, if you want to emphasize that. Also maybe a shot of your daughter smelling fragrances, and story why she likes certain ones. Create a discount code in your store.
  20. I do like Candle Science in that every fragrance I have gotten from them are strong. Other companies hit or miss. Love Flaming Candle, Fillmore, but have had hit or misses with them in terms of scent strength in wax, for example Fillmore apple blossom is beautiful but it’s a light scent. Not even sure it would work in cp soap either.
  21. True confessions bought from Flaming, Aztec, and Fragrance Buddy. Yes, you have to test. Have some duds in wax, or I just go 🤷‍♀️. NWOW. Not worthy of wax.
  22. I want to try just the additive because any of the fragranced one I find horrid smelling. If you can add to a nice fragrance then that would be great. I don’t care for the linen, airy ones they smell like tin to me and the fruity ones just smell like bad bathroom coverup.
  23. I found if I add fo at 180 and make sure it’s well well stirred and at 6 per cent I don’t have a problem. Higher fragrance loads sweaty top, and also causing adhesion problems.
