  4. Different fragrances can affect candle wax differently. How hot the candle burns then cools with different wicks can affect afterburn. It’s part of the process of learning different waxes and wicks.
  5. Try CD12 and 14 burn for three hours. Burn all the way down candle. Pour hotter is my suggestion. Try pouring 170 degrees.

  9. You can try softening your wax to see if it will adhere better. Heating jars etc won’t work, if the wax is too hard. It will shrink and you will get wet spots. If you don’t want wet spots switch to C3 and work it.
  10. Here is a good article that will help you https://www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/blog/products/all-about-carrier-oils.html https://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/library/storagevegetableoils.asp Shelf Life of Vegetable Oils Below is a list that displays the typical shelf lives for vegetable oils when stored properly. The most stable vegetable oils include jojoba (actually a liquid wax), meadowfoam, fractionated coconut, watermelon seed, moringa and high oleic sunflower oils. When receiving new shipments of oils, we recommend recording the date of receipt and the shelf life on the label of each oil to help you keep track. 6 Months: Borage Flax Seed Rosehip, Cold Pressed 6 - 9 Months: Blackcurrant 6 Months - 1 Year: Andiroba (Refined) Evening Primrose (10% GLA) Tamanu (Foraha Oil) 1 Year: Almond, Sweet Apricot Kernel (Refined) Arnica Avocado, Refined Black Raspberry Seed Oil Blueberry Seed Broccoli Seed Calendula Carrot Chardonnay Grapeseed, CP Cherry Kernel (Sweet) Emu, Clear, AEA Certified Fully Refined Emu, Grade A, AEA Certified Fully Refined Emu, Ultra, AEA Certified Fully Refined Grape Seed Hemp Seed Kiwi Seed Kukui Nut Macadamia Nut Maracuja (Passion Flower), Refined Passion Flower (Passionfruit), Refined Pecan Pomegranate Seed Poppy Seed Pumpkin Seed Rice Bran Riesling Grapeseed, CP Seabuckthorn Berry (Fruit) Sesame Soybean St. John's Wort Sunflower Super Berry Trio Blend Veggie Trio Blend Walnut Wheatgerm 1- 2 Years: Acai Aloe Vera Argan, Deodorized Camellia Seed Monoi de Tahiti, Unscented Perilla Seed Sangre de Drago Resin, Refined Yangu (Cape Chestnut) 2 Years: Black Cumin Seed Blackberry Seed Camelina, Refined Castor, Pale Pressed Coconut (76 degree) Coffee, Green Cranberry Seed Olive, Grade A Neem Palm (96 degree) Palm Kernel (106 degree) Peach Kernel Pequi Pomace Olive Red Raspberry Seed Safflower High Linoleic Strawberry Seed Turkey Red Vegetable Squalene Vitamin E, Natural (1000IU/g) Vitamin E, Natural (1400IU/g) Vitamin E, Natural (250IU/g) Vitamin E, Natural (400 IU/g) 2 Years+: Baobab Marula 3 Years: Hazelnut Stable: Coconut Oil Fractionated Coconut High Oleic Sunflower Oil Jojoba, Clear Jojoba, Natural Meadowfoam Seed Moringa Virgin Coconut Cream Oil Watermelon Seed
  11. You should do three hour burns. See how the melt pool is all the way down the candle. When you get deeper into the container the wax will melt faster hotter. You have to balance the top burn with the bottom burn. Coconut wax melts down fast in bottom part of candle compared to other waxes which can make it tricky to wick. give that candle above three hour burns and see how that wick works. One hour is nothing. Most people leave candles burning for a long time.
  12. Maybe. See how it burns middle before deciding. You can always try other wick series too.
  13. Not sure if you are going to love powder in balm unless it’s super super finely milled. You will still feel some IMHO. You can make an all natural heavy cream balm using liquid aloe and natural preservatives! You could make your own aloe liquid for cream then proceed with cream formula and naturally preserve. What is the end result you want with aloe? You might be able to make a balm with qualities of aloe without aloe if that makes any sense. maybe choosing different waxes, and oils can really affect end balm feel.
  14. Just an idea for you. Aloe Shea parfaits using layers of aloe gel and then cream. Have you seen those?
  15. Or base https://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/shea-butter-aloe-lotion.aspx https://www.wellingtonfragrance.com/Natural-Shea-Aloe-Multi-Base-Lotion-P2969.aspx wellington ingredients Shea-Aloe Multi Base Ingredients: Distilled Water, Aloe Vera, Sunflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, Meadowfoam Oil, Stearic Acid, Soya Oil, Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, Palmatic Acid, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, Shea Butter, Vitamin C, Citric Acid, Germall Plus
  16. You definitely need a preservative https://www.humblebeeandme.com/homemade-shealoe-butter-cream/
  17. I would do .5 or 1 percent. With high alcohol content you won’t need emulsifier to keep it clear. Do not go above that rate as every addition cuts down on the efficacy of the hand sanitizer. All sanitizers are high alcohol and will smell, well like alcohol.
  18. No instead of a piece of wick to test use a portion of wick with pick tab. Shallow containers especially metal one which get hot will need support to test wicks. If 14 was drowning start testing 12, 10, 8 three hour burns. If still burning to fast go down again.
  19. The wicks are too large for the wax. 45 minutes is not long to burn for meltpool. Wax melted and drowned wick. That wax is very soft and melts fast so you need a much smaller wick and you want to aim for a safe three hour burn.
  20. If a couple years ago, you’re a better chandler now so 1. You didn’t add fo at 180 degrees 2. You didn’t stir fragrance long enough into base 3. The batch of wax was a stinker. 4. That FO doesn’t work with that wax at 8 per cent. I have found certain fragrances just are impossible to work with for some projects. I had a cucumber one that even with different suppliers I could not get into glycerin soap base. Just would not incorporate. Solvents, fragrance chems whatever problematic. I would take that fragrance, make it again and let it sit and see if it happens again. Make another candle change fo and let that sit with the problem fragrance candle. 5. 8 per cent for some candles is just too much for base wax.
  21. Etsy is filled with medical claims on salves and balms. Don’t even go there. If you say this cures eczema set you up for trouble. Even saying something is antibacterial because it uses xx essential oils is setting you up for trouble
  22. Two opinions on pour temp. As you have poured cool then you should try hotter and use the chart for the wax. I only have troubles with the wax when it’s poured cool. Here are my pours of C3 both around 160. One burned and one not.
