  1. I'm almost 99.99% sure that if there is any soy at all in the candle it can be claimed as a 'soy candle.' I'm not entirely sure, but almost positive.
  2. I'm terribly sorry catcatcandles. I've only just seen your reply. I'm a bit slow these past few weeks with being so busy. I've tried about every wick you could think of in IGI 6006 by itself with no luck. I'm very particular and am trying to find the perfect wick. The eco wicks in 6006 soot entirely too much for my liking. The entire jar ends up black when the candle dissipates. Most of the wicks I've tested in the IGI 6006 end up the same way. Lots of mushrooming as well. I've been testing IGI 6006 & GW 464. I got a 2lb bag of the 464. I use 5oz 6006 with 1oz 464. (For one candle/one pour.) I've also tried 3oz 6006 + 2oz 464. The wick I've found to burn the best all around is the LX series. Obviously depending on your jar size and FO load, you'll have to test each size separately. The jars and smoke come out clean and the wick is self trimming. I love the LX series.
  3. Regarding wicking IGI 6006: I have tried several wicks for this wax. When I say several, I mean around twenty. 😖 I haven't been able to find a wick that I'm perfectly happy with. I know it's out there somewhere so I'll continue testing. The majority of the wicks I've tried throw soot like crazy or have mushrooming or some other issue. I have tried CD wicks. In fact I have a sample pack of all sizes. I wasn't satisfied with the end result. I also have zinc wicks but I prefer to use natural ingredients. I believe I tried the CD10 and CD12. I can't remember exactly but I think it sooted a lot. I'm currently testing the LX series and I'm almost positive that's what I'll go with. I absolutely love everything about them in this wax.
  4. I picked up two cans of the frosted glass spray paint about a month ago. I got them from a bargain store for about $1.50 a pc. They worked beautifully but couldn't be reused. What I mean by this is after using them for candle making, I cleaned them out. The spray paint rubbed off partially. I'm sure some mod podge or sealant spray would solve this problem. I also read after I had sprayed mine that sanding the glass slightly makes it stay better.
  5. What I meant to say for #2. Was #2. Would a blend of 6006 and paraffin be better for tarts or just straight premium paraffin? ☺️
  6. I have a few questions about blending IGI 6006 with premium paraffin. #1. Would it be beneficial to blend IGI 6006 with more paraffin for a better scent throw? #2. Would a blend of IGI 6006 and paraffin be better for tarts or just the 6006 by itself? #3. Would I have an easier time finding a wick that works by blending the IGI 6006 with more paraffin? I also have about 2-3lbs of GW 464. I've tried blending the 6006 with the 464 and the wicks I've tried have tested better than the 6006 by itself. I want to get the best CT/HT with my tarts. Thanks in advance as always! - Ginger
  7. So I wasn't sure where to place this post. I'm wondering about spray painting or hand painting my candle jars. If i spray paint or hand paint a glass jar, am I able to pour my candles and burn them inside? The paint will be on the outside of the jar. I am curious if it will make the paint drip off after If I use a primer? thank you all so much. You're all so helpful
  8. I've always made my own labels. If you purchase a pack of Avery labels, they have a design program that lets you create your own labels. They come out gorgeous.
  9. I was also wondering if adding straight paraffin to the IGI 6006 would give a greater HT?
  10. I've tested over 15 wicks and have fallen in love with the LX and premier wicks. They haven't left any soot on the jars and burn wonderfully. Testing the RRD wicks now.
  11. Candle sciences FOs seem a bit more viscous where flaming candles are thinner.
  12. I currently use Candlescience but have gotten a few from The flaming candle. The flaming candle oils seem to be a bit more runny. Where have ave you found the highest quality FOs to be from? thanks! You're all so amazing and I appreciate each of you. (feel free to move this if it's in the wrong spot.)
  13. @Ajah I got the eco sample pack and in the IGI 6006, it soots like crazy.
  14. Here are my tests. All are igi 6006 (other than the one that says 6006 and 464) I'm using 3.1" diameter straight sided tumblers. 7.5% FO ** this is my second burn test at6 total hours. ** this is after several burn tests. 4hrs a piece
  15. I've got yet another wick question. So, I'm testing more wicks and I'm back with more questions. I've read that you should get a full burn pool with the first burn. I've also read that getting a full burn pool with the first burn is a bad thing. I'm not sure which one to go by. The wicks I'm testing aren't giving me a full burn pool at all, but when they get further down in the jar they are melting off the excess wax on the sides. Thanks again in advance! i will post pictures when I get further into my test.
  16. I've tried to find the answer to my question but was unable to. My question is this; what is the best parasoy for container candles? I want the best HT/CT possible in a parasoy. Im trying to research a few but can't find any good information. Thanks in advance!
  17. I ordered a CD sample pack, premier wicks sample pack, and 2lbs gb 464. I haven't heard of the premiers before but I figured I'd give them a try. I have 30lbs IGI 6006 and was considering trying a blend with the gb 464. I've heard many people sing praises to this mix. I haven't been able to find a wick yet for the IGI 6006 by itself. I am thinking of lowering my FO% to 7.5% instead of the 8.5% I am currently testing. I am using the straight sided tumblers from Candlescience and they are 3.1" diameter all around. The csn 16 is about halfway empty now. It has burned the wax from previous burns on the sides but the flame is high and sooting. I've tried the csn 14 and I didn't get a full melt pool at any point. These are the wicks I have : LX 22, LX 24, CSN 14, CSN 16, all sizes ECO wicks, zinc 44, zinc 51, htp 83, htp 104. (I think that's all.) I have the premier and cd wick samples coming that I will try. I just feel like mixing the 6006 and 464 will make it easier for me to find a wick and get a better HT. It seems like no matter what FO I try, it spots and the melt pool doesn't reach the edges.
  18. I tried to go with a larger wick size. Im testing the LX 24 and csn 16 now. The LX has reached the edges but barely and the flame is really high
  19. I'm using IGI 6006 and have tried multiple wicks with no success yet. Im wondering if I'd have an easier time if I add another brand of soy like 464 or what. I love the blends. Any other suggestions for a blend wax? thanks in advance!
  20. Igi 6006 8.5% fo 3.1" diameter ive tried many wicks and haven't been able to find a suitable one yet.
