  1. I tested for 3-4hr increments multiple times. I just don't like the wicks.
  2. I have tested several wicks and many didn't even come close to the edge of the jars. Can I remelt these and reuse the wax or does remelting them burn off the fragrance oil?
  3. 3.1" diameter container. I know adding more won't necessarily make it stronger but I'm afraid to go too low and not have any HT.
  4. Quick question about FO and wicks/wax. Ive tried a CSN14 in IGI 6006(parasoy) and have found that it burns really well other than a few things. It mushrooms and soots a bit a bit but also tunnels. I know that too small of a wick can cause the tunneling but I've read that soot and mushrooming identifies too large a wick. I am using 8.5% FO (as IGI 6006 says 10% is max). My question is, if I lower my FO % will this decrease the sooting and mushrooming? Also, will my HT be greatly affected? I'm not sure how much lower to go but I was considering trying 7.5%-8%. Ive ordered a size up just to see the difference and will be trying them this weekend. thank you!
  5. No I haven't yet. I don't have any more LX wicks I have an eco sample pack, bag of 100 LX 22 and an 14.
  6. So I am now to this forum and I apologize in advance if I've not posted in the correct place. I am using igi 6006 parasoy wax by itself (I haven't added any extra soy like many do.) I use 8.5% FO added at 185•, and I pour at 170•. I let them cure 24hrs before my burn test. I am using 3.1" diameter jars with 8 ounces of wax in each. So far I've tested 6 different wicks. I've tried the eco 8 & eco 10 first. They both produced insane amounts of soot and the flames were flickering almost nonstop. I've tried the eco 6, LX 22, CSN 14, and a medium zinc wick. The photos are after an 8 hour burn. I burned for four, blew them out then relight. I took these just before blowing them out. The csn 14 is probably my favorite, but I can't quite tell yet. The burn pool doesn't seem like it's going to be large enough. When lit, the flame is very still and doesn't flicker much at all. The only downside is if any wind comes around the flame, it smokes like crazy The eco 6 burns beautifully, but the burn pool seems too small. The 8 is the night size up and that was too large, so I have no clue where to go from there with the eco wicks. I like the LX 22, but I'm not sure if the melt pool will be large enough and the flame sometimes dances. The medium zinc obviously wont work. The flame is very weak and the melt pool is only about 2". The other question I have is about different FOs needing different wicks. Do I really have to test each FO to find a specific wick for each one? It just seems like that would cost a few grand and be VERY time consuming. (Say I want to test 30 FOs. I'd need 30 jars. I'd have to have multiple wicks of each size and each brand. The amount of wax this would take would be enormous.) thank you in advance!
  7. It's stuck on 240• and I don't know if it can be Calibrated or how to fix it. I believe it has some air bubbles.
  8. I had a problem with tunneling that's why I ask. I'm using parasoy blend And lx 24. I tried csn 14 that's where I got the tunneling. I'm using 16oz mason jars.
  9. In candle science, what do the numbers for the wicks mean? It says, htp 14 6" Csn 20 6" I'm guessing the 6" is inches. What does the other number mean? Thanks
  10. I guess you could say I'm fairly new at this game. I made candles before but they didn't turn out so well. I'm trying my hand at it again, and am using igi 6006 With a csn 14 6". I'm experiencing a lot Of tunneling and am wondering if I should switch to A different wick, and which kind. I use candle science For my supplies. Should I get a can 20? What do the Numbers mean? I assume 6" is 6 inches In Height. Not sure what The 14 or 20 stand for. I think I will try the LX series. Any suggestions?
  11. I used to make candles a long time ago. I Used only straight paraffin, and they turned out A bust. This time around, I tried the parasoy Blend with a csn 14 6". The HT is wonderful, And I love using these together. The only problem I am having is the wick burns down the candle, Leaving some on the sides. Should I try a can 20 6"? Or does anyone have any suggestions on a parasoy wax And a wick that does well with it? I get all of my Supplies via candlescience, and use 16oz Mason jars.
  12. I am sorry I'm posting to wrong forums, And wrong titles. I am new here and I'm still learning. I apologize. I'm still figuring this place out. I'm using igi 6006, and the end result of one Candle is a hole in the top. It's not very big. I have some leftover wax from the pour, But I'm scared if I reheat it it will evaporate the Scent. Should I add more when I remelt or Just remelt and pour? Thanks!
  13. When to add fragrance oil? I am new here, and this is my second post. I apologize if I categorized it wrong or any thing Else. I am wondering when I should add my scent and oil. I was making candles last night, and when my wax reached 175•, I took it off of the stove and added my color and oil. The temp dropped immediately and I had to stir and reheat To 175. I'm wondering if I should just add it When it reached 175 and not take it off of The stove. Will it evaporate or no? Thanks. Also, I glued my sick to the bottom using hot glue, But as soon as I poured my wax, the wick came up Off of the bottom. Thanks again!
