  1. Hi, Candybee.I have only tried a handful of their oils. I really love Vervaine olive blossom!! What else should I try - if you had to recommend a few? Thanks (pure fragrance oils, not MW)
  2. I tested 15 fragrances about 2 years ago. I thought they were just alright. None of them stood out to me as must haves, so I never reordered. But as always, everything is subjective. I know there have been good reviews of CMS fos on this forum.
  3. At Christmas time I was being asked about Gardenia. A few months later, a lady at church asked if I had a gardenia lotion. I told her I would make her some - I did have some FO in gardenia. I made about 6 bottles. She took three of them and in the matter of 2 days the other three had been bought. I made another batch of six. Gone in a week or two. I put a few in the store - my wholesale account store here in town. They were gone within a day or two. I guess what I am trying to say - is I think there is a resurgance of popularity on these classic florals. Lavender is selling really well too - but it always has for me. I use the gardenia from MMS - true scent without being overly heady. I like the soothing lavender from the candle source - it is the bedtime version that has been softened with chamomile. So not the e.o. type scent. Lemon sugar from re/ah is super strong, but very sweet. I love Avobath from fragrance buddy, very nice lemony scent - but just testing it now - not sure how it will hold up - but I'm in love with the ct.
  4. Thank you! I will check into this. I know I tested Peaks BRV before, but it was when I was first starting 4 years ago. I will have to revisit. Thanks again for this pointer. I really like Peak's shipping - really fair, imo. I order wax from there - and it costs almost nothing to add on fos. (in shipping anyway )
  5. Thanks so much. I have not tried that one. I will have go order some, that is, if I can get over CW shipping - their shipping prices make me crazy!!!!!!!
  6. Photoshop for me. I make my own template for each product - soap, lip balm, scrub... - and them customize for different scents and flavors. Once you learn how to use photoshop, it is very easy to change out backgrounds, font, etc. My years of digital scrapbooking have come in handy with label making.
  7. Poured these Yesterday. Here are my first impressions in wax tarts: Fierce - Lush type - This is a very pleasant unisex scent. CT is too light for me - I feel it might surprise me with the HT. But I probably wont use in wax. IMO, it is a better soap fragrance. I plan on soaping it today and will compare to Natures garden version Rock star - Lush type - Nice femine scent - unique and sweet. In Melt: Medium strong CT. I'm not sure that I will like it as a room scent, but teenage daughter loved it and said she would like it in her room. I will let her test HT in a day or two. In CP soap - soaped nicely. Scent is awesome so far. I really think it will stick. When pouring, it discolored my TD (white) soap batter to peach, but when I cut the soap log the color had turned back to white. IT was very interesting. I really like this is soap! Avobath - Lush type - I am loving this one. It is very lemony. Reminds me of a sweet lemon with a touch of green. I can not smell avocado (whatever that might be) - but the sharp lemon is tempered very well by whatever it is in there. This is my favorite CT of all the samples, but I am a sucker for lemon and citrus. I just love it. We will see how it burns. Let's hope for no fuel smell. This one would be great in soap and B&B Twilight woods - just okay - CT is light Salted Caramel - Disappointed with this one. I am not liking this in my parasoy blend. Not sure what it smells like, but it does not resemble caramel to me. It just smells sweet and waxy. CT is light to medium. Pink Sands - nice and pleasant in wax. There is a sweet floral scent to it - not my favorite, but I think others may like it. CT is medium strong. Black Rasp Vanilla - Ct medium - and just typical. I am still looking for a BRV that is awesome and strong. Any suggestions? Pepperberry Wreath - This is awesome!!! A sweet pine forest. It is very holidayish, but I think you could get away with calling it "Rocky Mountain Pine" ( or something) during the rest of the year. CT is strong. We will see how it burns. Again - hope it doesn't get that weird cleaner/fuel smell when burning.
  8. Barncat - have you experimented using PVC vs. PET clamshells? Or is this coming from experience using other pvc or pet products? TIA
  9. I bit more pricey then eclamshells - plus they have 2 and 3 case minimums. Here is how they compared: eclamshells PVC clamshells are about .17 cents a piece and Candle Packaging USA PET clamshells is about .25 cents - both included shipping. I only found one other place online that identified clamshells as being PET and PVC - they were same price, in fact looked like the same company to me. ChandlerWicks - are you planning on purchasing any PET clamshells? I will go in on some with you if you are. I would love to test and see for myself if they have better scent retention. Man - I sometimes I hate the perfectionist in me!!! Now I feel like I have to get to the bottom of this. .
  10. Just called echamshells.com. They said they use 20mil. PVC for all clamshells made there. Interesting.
  11. How can you tell the difference? I get mine from eclamshell.com. Wondering if they PVC or pet? Does anyone know. ( I could not get on website to check-not sure that infos even on there) TIA
  12. Faithfulscenter - I know nothing about wooden wicks, but I wanted to say hi. So good to hear from you. I know your life has gotten crazy busy, but I love when you drop in. Good luck on your wooden wick venture!!! Keep us posted - in all your free time. (Hee-hee)
  13. I just received samples for FB as well. I must admit that I was surprisingly impressed with them OOB. These are the ones I received: Fierce - Lush type - not sure on this one yet - going to put it in soap and will compare to Natures garden version Rock star - Lush type - strong and nice OOB - will soap this one Avobath - Lush type - strong but smells like a lemon verbena scent, wondering if this one got mixed up Twilight woods - my daughters fav - still trying to find one that we like, strong OOB, but has a waxy, musky smell I don't like Salted Caramel - smells awesome OOB, and like Justa said, no strong nutty smell. I'm hopeful on this one. I have no Caramel or nut scents in my line, because I just can't handle that overpowering nutty aroma that is in most Caramel scents. Pink Sands - nice. Will put in wax soon Black Rasp Vanilla - smells good, typical... Pepperberry Wreath - strong OOB. Reminds me of mistletoe, I will put in wax. I know some say they sell it year round, so I'm excited to see if it is less holiday like when in wax. I will report back in a few days when put into applications.
  14. Looks great. Love the whale!!!
  15. Oh, I've noticed that they have stopped sending them with potpourri to fill the bottom of the jar. Do you know why? I bought some potporri to put in and then wondered if there was some safety reason they are not sending it anymore. Guess I should call and find out.
  16. I have been selling mine for $25. I only buy the designs that are on super sale, but even with that I am not making a huge profit on them. I sell a few every show. they are very cute and "in" in my little "farm chic" town.
  17. I just got on. Try http://www.backwoodsfragrancesupply.com/. Hope you can get on.
  18. I have to admit to being a FO addict. I have ordered from so many places, it's a bit ridiculous. My current favorite fo suppliers are MMS, Backwoods, Soapsupplies.net, and Peaks.
  19. I did not like their pumpkin spice in tarts!!! Thought it smelled awful, like vomit. Also, I thought their scents were too light for my wax. Those things with the hefty price were enough to turn me off from Sweet Cakes. Just my opinion.
  20. I was an accountant in my former professional life - before my kiddos - so i can help you on this one. You can only deduct cost basis for your product. Retail value is too subjective, so the IRS prohibits it. Just remember this general rule when dealing with taxes: whatever is least beneficial to you is probably the irs rule. I say it a little jokingly, but it is almost always true.
  21. Georgia, I've had scentsy wax not melt completely in the square scentsy warmers, but melt fine in round ones. I concluded that is was definitely the shape.
  22. I think I have a one ouncer. I'll check in the morn.
  23. Jajchick, do you have any updates on your strawberry quest? I'm getting ready to try a few myself. I think I'll try candlewic and NG and maybe candle source. What are your thoughts on the ones you tested so far?
