  1. Country Bee, you have me curious about this wax. I have never heard about it before, so I did some searching. I only found two places that sell it- Tri-state and Candles & Supplies. Sounds like candle science used to carry it too, but no more. Do you really like it for tarts? I have been blending my own parasoy blend for tarts, but would love to find one wax that I like. Does anyone else on this board use this wax and recommend it? It's curious to me, that with the rise of tart making the last few years, that this wax would fall off the radar.
  2. Mix with a pillar or votive wax. You can use soy, palm or paraffin - just make sure it's a harder votive or pillar. YOu will have to experiment until its the hardness you want.
  3. Which TCS are you talking about? I always get confused. Do you mean Tennessee Candle, the candle source, or the candlemaking store? I have heard that Tennessee candle is going OOB. Not sure if that is true, but that could explain out of stock items.
  4. Love those containers!!! Congrats on your sales!!
  5. Hi, JenniferDawn. I was never part of old board, but welcome. Your products look awesome!
  6. I just poured red hot cinnamon in a melt. It has a great ct, but have not burned it yet. Cinnamon buns was too light - I never could get it to throw well. I love Christmas Hearth - throws great and a unique, wonderful holiday scent.
  7. Pixie, you are right. I guess I am still in between hobbiest and creating a business. But even as a hobbiest you occasional think to yourself, "hum, I could have bought new furniture or, in my case, a small car for what I have spent over the years." Crazy, but its fun!!!! Here's the real crazy part - in the month of August I have poured 59 new fragrances from 19 suppliers. Okay, back to my original outcry "stop the madness !!!!!" I think I must!!!!!
  8. Thanks, simplyfragrant for your input on both my supplier inquiries. It is much appreciated!!!
  9. Vanilla seems to be my nemesis. I can not get it throw well, even in tarts. Is there a trick to it that anyone would like to share? TIA
  10. Well, thanks for nothing ya'll!!! I guess that's what I get for asking help from a sick group of people. But honestly,- I love our sickness! So, I've been thinking two things since i posted. First, I do need to make sure my customers get the best (thanks Ravens). And second, I really don't spend much on other things that other women spend money on - fragrance oils are my one real extravagance (and wax and eos and soap supplies and...). Expensive shoes aren't that tempting to me anymore. I'd rather buy FOs. Also, I just started doing a few craft shows and thinking of doing a farmers market- so maybe I can make some money or at least break even (someday).
  11. Just poured mulberry and moonbeams from Candle Cacoon. Super strong, but smells to me exactly like Hawaiian Punch. Not the holiday FO I was looking for. I mixed it with CS Pine Cones (1:1) to tame it, but to no avail. The ct was nice but when I burned it, the Hawaiian punch smell took over. I'm thinking I will use it as a blender at a very small ratio.
  12. I have been on a FO binge of late. I've probably tried 5 or 6 new fo suppliers in the last month. I can't seem to stop myself, but I need to. Common sense and financial sense are telling me to stop. I figure even if I like a few from each supplier, it will be cost prohibitive to order from all of them for my product lines. I'm thinking I need to pick 3 or 4 favorite suppliers and not keep venturing out. What have some of you done to curb your fo appetite? Any good strategies to share? Please help me!!!! I'm too addicted!!!!
  13. Does anyone order from Cierra candle? I've heard their cool water and pumpkin harvest are great. Any others FO that I must try.
  14. Ravens, I'm have a pumpkin soufflé clamshell up to my nose. I smell a sweet pumpkin with a touch of spice. No burnt smell at all. I love it.
  15. Has anyone had experience with them? I just ordered a few 4 oz FO from them. Their prices and shipping were great, but I have no idea about the manufacturers or quality. Does anyone know where they get their FOs and if they are any good? TIA
  16. Cranberry peppermint is great too. Strong CT and HT in melts. It was One of my daughters favorites.
  17. Please try their Candied Yams - for Ravens' sake!!! I love their Cranberry Marmalade, sweet nothing's and twilight woods - oh and pumpkin soufflé is awesome too.
  18. Sounds like its time to give satsuma a second look. I tried it once last year and was not impressed. Guess I'll have to try a different supplier- cause I'm always looking for a good citrus.
  19. I love MMS. I've tried about 20 of their FOs and loved most of them. Most performed great in soap and b&b, but only half performed well in my parasoy tarts. Here's a few of my reviews: Coconut lemongrass - great in parasoy - reordered Welcome home -love, love, love, great in parasoy - reordered Lemon verbena- great in cp and parasoy Brown sugar and spice- sweet and vanillay, really great in cp, not so good in parasoy Alice-- great orange blossomy fragrance, strong throw in parasoy for about 12 hrs Cotton candy - parasoy, great and strong tart lasted 30 hours Champagne Sugar- awesome fragrance but too weak for my parasoy blend Hinoki wood -great woodsy masculine scent, made a great shaving soap. I would not hesitate to order from them. Their FOs are great!!!
  20. QT, where did you order your Satsuma from? TIA.
  21. I'm wanting to give them try. Anyone love their fragrance oils? Which ones are winners in parasoy and/or CP soap? Thanks!
  22. I'm in love with Clarus 3022. It is a parasoy blend wax -70% soy 30% paraffin. I blend it with a paraffin votive or pillar wax and I get a great tart. I love the rich smell of soy and the longevity of the paraffin. But like mentioned above, everyone has their own "thing." What works for one doesn't always work for another. Good luck!
  23. Welcome, Glenn. I hope you enjoy it here. There's plenty to read and learn here.
  24. I just ordered lye from Essential Depot via Amazon. Got 10 lbs for $28 including shipping. Best price I could find - and I like the 2 lbs packaging. I have gallon jugs of coconut oil, too. I melt it in hot water bath in my sink and pour into snap lid container. With really hot water, I can get it melted in about an hour or so. I have also left it in warm/hot water overnight and in the morning it is ready to go. Stays liquefied (is that a word? ) for a many hours after melting.
