  1. Thanks for the replies. I will pour some more of the samples I got and see how it goes.
  2. Hi everyone, I have recently started testing fragrance oils from Alabaster and so far they seem a little weak compared to Bittercreeks. I am using 1oz pp. Any of you out there that use Alabaster, do you have to use more than 1 oz on most scents to get a good throw? I started testing because I can have them picked up and brought to me when family visits, but if I have to use more than usual, I don't know if it would be worth it.
  3. I get my wax from Alabaster, I use the 415 and j223. Their prices have of course gone up like everywhere else but no shipping charges. I get my son to pick up a load on his way down to visit me in Florida. I am just starting to test some of their fos. Good customer service so far.
  4. Thanks for the reply Scenic. Yes I have the taller wick tabs so I will quit worrying about it. :smiley2:
  5. Hi, my candles are burning good (1/4" mp) until the bottom of the container with some. I know the glass holds more heat lower in the jar but is a large mp 1/2-3/4" toward the bottom acceptable?
  6. Oh that is gorgeous! Very unique.
  7. I ordered the shrink wrap tubing last year but it STINKS. I mean it really smells so bad I'm afraid to use it.
  8. I blend paraffin about 25% with 415. I have no frost and can pour at 150. Had to start all over testing of course because wicking changes but I like it so far.
  9. That's about how long I wait. When the wax looks like it has hardened, I fire it up.
  10. I recently got some fos from Alabaster but have only tried Kudzu, Pomegranite and Blackberry (both were good in my soy blend). Which ones have you had success with? Most of my fos come from BCN and BCS.
  11. I blend my own because I like having the option and control to tinker with it. I am still adjusting the percentages until I get it just right. HTH
  12. I use a lot of BC's fo in a soy blend and most of them throw very well. Off the top of my head, twigs n berries, creme brulee, wildberry zinger tea, cranberry jelly, citrus splash, ocean mist, sex on the beach (very strong), verbena berry.
  13. I have never used your wax, but used to use all soy 415 and added (I think from what I can remember, don't have my notes w/ me at work) 1 teaspoon of BW. It did help some with frosting but wasn't as consistent as I would have liked. HTH.
  14. I dont use that wax but I used to get those burn marks with pure soy. I add paraffin and BCS uv color stabilizer and no more discoloration.
  15. Paraffin seems to have increased in price also. My supplier is charging $81.00 for 60# of J223, $56.00 for 50# of 415. I have been making my own blend from these 2 waxes so the soy is cheaper for now. Have all of these price increases caused any of you to change the wax you use?
  16. I use a pound when testing because I am testing several different kind of jars for each scent.
  17. Thanks for your replies, appreciate it very much.:smiley2:
  18. Ok, I'm sure this is a dumb question. I have always poured my testers in 1 lb batches from a metal pour pot. I got a presto pot so I could pour larger batches. So today I put in all ingredients for my para/soy blend and melted, then tared scale and ladeled 16 oz in pyrex container and added dye and 1 oz fo but had wax leftover. This is correct right? What got me thinking was when I did everything in the metal pour pot, don't I end up with more wax since it melts to more than 16 oz? Seems like in the metal pour pot I would have less fo in the mixture than weighing out 16 oz and then adding fo. Am I having a brain fart?
  19. My understanding is that ezsoy and 415 are the same.
  20. Hi, I am currently using 415 soy and J223 paraffin blended. I am still tweaking the percentages but will probably be somewhere about 25-30% soy and 70-75% paraffin. I started adding the paraffin because got tired of frosting issues and I can pour hot, about 150 degrees. I would try to find the closest supplier and make it work. HTH
  21. Great photos! Looks very professional.
  22. Love those jars! They look like they would go with any decor.
