  1. Yep I am an Aussie lol. We live in central Queensland (middle of the sticks lol) . Jessica (daughter) is now beading xmas ornaments, we have a huge craft market at the end of this month. Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement for my daughter.
  2. Thank you everyone for your kind words. This is my daughters stress release, she is doing year 12 in high school at the moment and it avoids melt downs.
  3. Hoping I am putting this in the right section. Just wanted to show everyone what my 17yr old daughter made for one of my containers. I have a stock pile of beads as I used to have a beading business, so she is now utilising them towards the candles. It is hand sewn.
  4. I am fairly new to candle making as well. I use the Ecosoya CB 135 wax. Have had a lot of trial and errors with it but I think I have nailed it now. I pour as it starts to go sludgey. Being in Australia and using metric measurements, per batch is 624grams of wax and for the stronger scents I add about 32grams and for the weaker scents I use about 45grams of fragrance. Haven't had a problem with hot or cold throws yet. i also found if I pour half the container contents, let it rest for about a minute then pour the rest I don't end up with the horrible tops.
  5. Thank you for those links, I now have them bookmarked
  6. I am sitting here chuckling at your post. That is exactly what i did lol. i didn't like how the tops were. I am having troubles with the cool down stages because of the temps where I live. Figured out if I add plain melted wax on top it gives a nice finish, the candles have a great hot throw so I wasn't too worried about the plain wax drowning them iykwim.
  7. I was hoping to minamize the FO load. Fragrance oil over here is $29.90 per bottle of 500ml . Works out quite expensive when using the maximum load. I guess I will have to keep on testing to reach the happy medium. I am going to bed at night dreaming fragrance oils lol
  8. thank you for your replies. I was doing it all wrong. I got a bit slack with mixing the oil in as I was concentrating too much on air bubbles and thought that was causing the problems, but I created others in the process. Just call me a nut case lol.
  9. Thank you Vio. That container is actually a drinking glass. I have a heap of candle containers but I went to one of our OP shops here and they had a heap of glassware. I snapped them all up, recycled glassware lowers your cost. A box full of "old" drinking glasses etc over here is costing me about 7.00AUD.
  10. I have searched and searched the forum , and I know what I am going to ask has already been done to death on here. fragrance load is doing my head in at the moment. I use ecosoya CB . I am in Australia so all the measurements given on here are in US measurements. i am not that good at maths or numbers (improving though with candle making lol). The instructions I got with the wax was 10%FO load, now I am finding that I am getting what looks like an oil slick on my tops. I have tried different % but haven't struck on the right one. Ecosoya site says 10% - 12% load but if you go into the questions part they also recommend 5% load. 1lb of wax in my measurements is 453grams I measure out 624grams per batch as it does 4 candles beautifully. Can someone help calculate the FO load for me please.
  11. hi everyone, I am new at making soy container candles and just wanted to post some I have done. Still doing a lot of experimenting, I am nearly bald lol. I use Ecosoya CB wax.
  12. You could always contact them via email explain you will be out here and have them delivered to your nieces place. The other link I put up, they are in Sydney not far from the airport.
