  1. Hi, I'm on the gulf coast also and the closest supplier to me (I think) is Alabaster in Alabama in between Montgomery and Birmingham.
  2. When I use soy wax I usually start with a CD 12.
  3. How much fo and dendritic did you use pp? I just noticed my last post was in error-I used 2 grams not 2 tsp.
  4. I put 2 tsp fo pp of solar salt and it's been several days, still smells strong. I'm trying out packaging it in cello bag, folding over and stapling card to it. The batch I made w/ solar salt, perlite and dendritic salt is losing its scent, have it hanging in a closet. I'm going to hang one in the car and see how it does. How is everyone else's doing?
  5. Thanks so much for the replies. I was hoping I wouldn't have to wait to make yet another order!:smiley2:
  6. Hi, I just received an order for 2 2 3x4.5 seamless pillar candle molds. This is my first attempt at making pillars. Wick screws did not come with the order. Is there something else I can use? I assumed that the screws came with the molds.
  7. Those are very pretty and you take good pics too.
  8. I was hooked after pouring my first candle. I've been at it only 5 mths and have already spent well over $1,500.00 on wax, jars, supplies, scents, B&B stuff, etc. The more I get the more I want.
  9. I don't see how you would have any trouble selling those, they look very unique and looks like it would fit any kind of decor.
  10. I can get my thermometer to reach into the wax by tipping the pour pot balancing the handle on the edge of the double boiler. But it takes a little longer to melt so I am getting a presto pot this week.
  11. Thank for the info cause I have been wanting to get some of those.
  12. Looks very nice from the outside!
  13. Thanks for the replies, I will try out your suggestions. Yes the pyrex is very thick.
  14. My problem has been buying too many candle container jars. But I have decided from now on I will only use the ones that I can pick up and scale down to a few. Now if only I could make up my mind which few.
  15. Hi, I am trying to make several batches at a time but am having problems when I pour wax into pour pot. I am using pyrex, and am heating it in the microwave because I need to add dye and fo at 175. When I pour melted wax into pyrex, the temp drops like a stone to 150. Is it ok to then microwave it back up to 175?
  16. I am experimenting with that now. I have been putting 1/4 oz pp, it has helped reduce frosting and smoother tops. But after burning, the tops still mottle some, I still have a frost burn line (not as bad though), and I do not notice a better hot throw. I dunno, still working with it. I've also got a candle waiting to burn w/ 14oz soy, 2 oz paraffin and 1/4 oz BW - I don't know if I'm wasting my time on that I'm not quite ready to give up and go dyeless.
  17. I don't know anything about cake coloring but I use food coloring in my bath salts and sachets and it works fine.
  18. Hi there, I am wanting to delve into soap making (thought I would start w/ M&P first and work up to CP), and have been reading and researching the threads, recipes, suppliers, etc. My question is do you think I should start w/ the supplier closest to me which is Alabaster (I can pick it up) or go with w/ one of the others as recommended here? I would like to start w/ a good base and add to it similar to PrarieAnnie's recipe recently posted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:smiley2:
  19. I keep telling myself I'm gonna start soaping soon but haven't done it yet. I'm still researching suppliers, prices, recipes, etc. So much to choose from.
  20. They look great. Wish I could get mine to look that good.
  21. Your website looks good. I like the gift set especially.
  22. Thanks for the reply and yes that makes perfect sense now that I see it in writing. I'll go pull my head outta my a_ _ now.:embarasse
  23. I haven't started making soap yet, but hope to very soon for personal use, family, gifts.
  24. I know this is a dumb question but here goes. I am wanting to get a presto pot but am wondering if the percentages of additives that I use per pound (wax, beeswax, uv, etc.) will change if I make a large batch. Does that make sense? :undecided
