  1. Thanks for the reply Violet. I have a heat gun and love it but still have frost and discoloration after burning with all soy. I'm trying to use wax that I can pick up at Alabaster and avoid shipping costs. I'm not selling yet, I've got tons more testing with this new wax and jars, etc. Maybe one day.
  2. I've never used aroma beads so can't compare. I'll have to wait and see how long the scent lasts. About 6 weeks ago, I made a batch using 1 cup each of solar salt, vermiculite (got the wrong kind though, it was too fine) and perlite. It still smells super strong. I can't put it in bags cause it is way too fine but I have been putting it in small envelopes and placing around the house.
  3. Ok, I'm still working on blending some J223 with 415. I used 14 oz soy, 2 oz J223 and 1 tbsp beeswax. I wasn't sure what temp to pour so I poured at 125 b/o the paraffin. Anyone have experience with this? Maybe I gave up too soon on the 50/50 but I repeatedly could not get it wicked right. I'm just trying to get rid of frost and general uglyness after burning.
  4. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q261/Juggy_album/Jerolynspictures125.jpg Finally got my camera working. The 1st jar is solar salt, dendritic salt & perlite with 3 drops blue foot coloring; 2nd one I rinsed the solar salt first then added perlite and 5 drops red foot coloring; the last one is just solar salt and 3 drops green food coloring. I will post later one when I see how they hold up. Do you think it looks better with or w/o the perlite? Oops, I mean food not foot coloring!
  5. I got my dendritic salt from BC but not sure if I will use it because when I put the salts in the bag the dendritic salt sprinkled out some from the bottom of the bag. I will see if it still does it tomorrow.
  6. I was wondering the same thing. I made two batches last night. Did you use anything with the solar salt? How did you color yours? I used food coloring. I made one and added Perlite, and made the other with perlite and dendritic salt. I think I will try it tonight with just the solar salt. I put them in muslin drawstring bags. My camera died or I would post a pic.
  7. Hang on to those jars. I have started using mine to store sachet and scented rocks in. They are perfect for that.
  8. Very nice Mozzie. Labeling is a PITA I am finding out.
  9. Nannalin, I took care of my Mother with dementia too so I know that takes up a lot of your time and energy.
  10. I would like to try this recipe also. I am new to B&B products and have just been using bases so I don't have any of the butters and oils. Do most of them have to be ordered from suppliers or are they available in stores? I know I can get Vit E and castor oil locally. I have the BC base and 2 flavor oils.
  11. I recently got an order of their FOs, most of the ones listed, but have not tried them yet. I will post as soon as I do. They smell great OOB.
  12. Thanks for the reply Spacegirl. I used 1 oz fo with the 75%soy/25%para and tried LX and Eco, either the MP was too big or wimpy flame. With the 50/50, I put in 1.25 FO (supplier recommendation) and tried LX and CD. Do you blend your waxes? I was thinking about trying more soy and less paraffin. The main jars I am trying to wick are: 14 oz vase jar, 8oz mason and 11oz tumbler. I didn't think that sounded right about the soy "going bad".
  13. Anyone? Wish we had a parasoy section, not sure where to post when it involves soy and paraffin.
  14. Those are beautiful. The second one looks like little cakes with icing.
  15. Those look very nice, love the colors. Let us know how they burn.
  16. Look very professional and eye-catching!
  17. Ok, I am absolutely stuck. Started off w/ ezsoy, liquid dyes, CD wicks and had great hot throw but hated the frosting so I have been testing J223 with ezsoy at different % (50/50, 25/75) with CD, LX wicks. The 14 oz vase jar finally got a good mp with a CD 7 but now is smoking with soot on the jar. Soooo, all of you who have tested soy alone and mixed w/ J223 what do ya think? If I go back to soy (my nearest supplier has 415) I may have to go dyeless OR keep trying the mix. The only reason I have been blending was b/o frosting and ugly appearance w/ soy. Has anyone had good results w/ soy adding just a little J223 and maybe some BW, UA and/or uv inhibitor? Sorry this is so long but I'm at a standstill. Oh and one more thing, my supplier discouraged me from using just soy-said since it was a food product it could "go bad after awhile". Any advice would be appreciated! My son is having several operations starting in late May - August so I am trying to get as much done as possible before then. Thanks.
  18. I am trying to wick 8oz mason, 14 oz vase jar and 11 oz tumbler. I still can't get any of them wicked to my satisfaction. I finally get an ok mp with the vase jar using a CD 7 (50/50 J223/415) and am getting some mushroom and soot. Maybe I just need to go back to pure soy and go dyeless.:undecided
  19. I tried to click on that web address and got a porn site. They I tried to enter it seperately and got the same thing. Did you have the same trouble?
  20. Wow, congratulations! Just be yourself. I did some TV interviews 25 yrs ago and I was nervous but just remember that you know what you're talking about and be confident and comfortable with what you are wearing. You will do great. Be sure and let us know afterwards.
  21. Very professional looking and your soaps look very inviting.
  22. Your setup looks very nice and colorful. I keep toying with the idea of going dyeless but I worry my setup (if I ever get one) would look too plain.
  23. Looks just like a croc. Wish I was that creative.
