  1. Ok all you creative and clever people, I am asking for opinions, suggestions, etc. for my company name. I have been testing for more than 2 yrs now and am ready to get my domain, website, etc for business. On the labels I have been experimenting with, I always come back to Ashcraft Candles and Scents. I know it sounds boring but nothing else grabs me. My last name is Ashcraft and my friends and family think that is a "crafty" name and I should incorporate it. Whadya think? I plan on carrying candles, wax melts, body spray, soap, lotion, air freshners, diffusers, and lip balm so far. I am not going for a country look or upscale, I would like to be somewhere in between. Here is a logo I have been playing around with online. I like clean and simple. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q261/Juggy_album/Pictures211-1.jpg
  2. Thanks for the reply Mystical. No I haven't used that size or tried a fullsheet yet. I am hoping the 1.9 x 2.5 will work because I have a whole bunch of them. What kind of printer do you use? I have a Dell inkjet that is about 5 yrs old. I know I need to get a new one cause the color never comes out right either. I have so many label and printing issues!
  3. BCS has square tins with small round containers for samples. I have scented wax for each scent I have in the containers, very handy.
  4. Hello, I know this is an old thread but I cannot get these labels to work for me. It may be my printer. I have the onlinelabels 1.9 x 2.5 for lip balm. I try to enter the specifications per onlinelabels website but Avery will not accept those numbers so I end up using the 8371 template and moving it around some. When the labels print, each label is situated differently within each space, eventually being over the line. I hope I have described my problem without sounding like a dim wit. Any help would be most appreciated as I am about ready to throw my printer out the window.
  5. I used to have the smallest ones a couple of years ago and really loved the look of them, also pretty to easy to wick BUT the glass was very thin (from the jar store) so I quit using them. I was just too concerned they would shatter. I don't know how thick they are from other sources thou. HTH:smiley2:
  6. Thanks for the replies! I think I've decided to get domain with godaddy and host with wahmshoppes.
  7. I am finally going to get my domain name and website. I have recently moved and have a free yahoo email address now instead of my old IP email. Do I need to buy a business email address through godaddy when I get my domain name as suggested?
  8. Candles are beautiful. Too pretty to burn!
  9. Thanks for the reply Coconut. I will heat to 200 next time. I did prewarm the pour pot (glass pyrex measuring cup) but don't think I heated it enough. So I assume after you heat to 200, you add dye and fragrance and pour immediately?
  10. Well I finally got around to trying out this wax for votives and tarts but had a hard time with it. My supplier instructions said to melt to 180-add color and fo-then pour. It took forever to melt in the presto pot and when the thermometer showed 180 it didn't look completely melted so I upped it to 190 and looked better. When I ladeled into pour pot and added fo, it started to harden! Then when I poured into molds, I barely had time to insert wick. It was almost like sludge and cleanup was a bear. I have never worked with this wax (I use a soy/par blend) so any input would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Don't mean to hijack but I currently mix J223 with 415 and the J223 is a lot more expensive than the 4627. Those of you that have used both, do they perform similarly with wicks? I know if I switched I would need to retest which I would dread but I wonder why there is such a big price difference.
  12. Thanks for all the info! Just didn't really know what kind to get for a soap newbie.:smiley2:
  13. Well I have finally made my first batch of CP soap using Flickers recipe 50/50 lye/water and turned out good (will post pic when camera starts behaving) so I have been bitten by the bug! I need to order a few more things so my question is: what is your favorite soap mold and favorite way to color your soap? I used a cardboard shoe box but didn't like the way the soap looked from the corners. I used b&b liquid color and did not show up well at all. Any responses would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Absolutely freaking amazing how the government wants to regulate everything! They want to "punish" small companies in the cosmetic and soap business but can't even adequately safely regulate all the crap that comes in from overseas that has caused injury and death to people and animals. Just looks like another way for the government to stick it to the little guy (like times are not hard enough already) so they can have more of our money. I signed the petition, only took 5 minutes.
  15. I also use the Milwaukee from Walmart, works great!
  16. I have a few of those same warmers from Alabaster and if anything it probably burned too hot since it is so small.
  17. Hey thanks a lot for the input. I'm about to make an order at Alabaster and just trying to decide what wax to get. Off the subject but I have been very pleased with their CS, jars, wax but have been disappointed so far with the fo's, seem weak to me.
  18. Thanks for the reply Fredron. I was thinking about adding the small amount of container wax cause I found a lot of posts suggesting that to prevent cracking. I will try both. Sure would be nice to just use the one wax for em. It sure is expensive!
  19. Hi everyone, I have been searching and reading trying to decide what to use for votives and tarts. Based on what I have been reading I plan on using 75% Astorlite V or 6228 plus 25% container wax for votives and tarts (I've been using leftover container wax for tarts but too messy and doesn't slide out of burners when through). I have 10lb samples of both from Alabaster. The Astor V is $61.05/55#, in pellet form and supposedly no repours. The 6228 is $79.30/60#, slab and need relief holes and repour. Any experiences or opinions would be appreciated!
  20. Thanks for the reply Elfcat! I'll just stick with 1oz samples for now.
  21. I about to place my first order with CScience, getting a bunch of samples based on what you all have recommended. My question is do most of you find 1oz pp is enough for their fo's? I usually use 1-1.25oz/pp with most scents I have been using. I use my own blend of 415/j223 (75/25). Just wondering if I need to get 2oz of each sample or just 1. Thanks!
  22. Wow, you have some good friends! Hope everything sells well.
  23. Anyone would be thrilled to get a basket of goodies like that. Very nice!
  24. I didn't know they were selling different fo's. How do you find out information like that or is this something I should of known?
