  1. Whoops! I started this message and it went somewhere before I finished. Paige
  2. I'm confused and frustrated. I've been using CB135 for a while now and like most things about it. However, I'm finding that when I use vanilla scents, that I get what looks like burns after my candle cools. I'm using 2cd 12's in 15.0 oz of CB135 with 1oz of vanilla. It's not like my wicks are torches or anything they burn very well. I don't use dyes with this scent. Does anyone here have this problem and know what to do??? I'm at my wits end. TIA Paige
  3. Hello, Most of the candles I make I use CB 135 and the 16oz apoth's using CD wicks. I've not had a problem so far. I double wick using 2 cd 12's for most scents, but I do wick up on the vanilla's and heavier scents to two 14's. I also take the fo load down a bit with vanilla & some cinnamons. That being said, my candles are dye free, so this might not work for you :undecided Paige
  4. Yikes!! is right Kristi! I'd be afraid to do this. I'm sure the cost of liability insurance would probably double with this added fire hazard. Cute Pammi, but I'm w/Kristi - you'd do better with the pillars for this type Paige
  5. Meredean, I use eco's all the time in my CB 135. I always double wick anything over 3" and start w/2 4's. Some of my fo's I wick up to 6's. HTH Paige
  6. Soysense, I set the candles up on a riser to get a good look at how much wax I'm putting in, kind of eye level, then I use a 2C pyrex measuring cup w/a spout. I don't really have any problems using this method. HTH Paige
  7. Amy, Quite true. Sometimes I get into my own little "soy rut". I really do need to start branching out!!! lol Paige
  8. Here's my Type of Soy or Soy Blend you use? EcoSoya CB 135 Additives if any? None Preferred dyes? Dye Free Preferred wick (Not sizes)? Eco and CD Pouring temp you recommend? 100 - 105 What you do to prevent rough tops? Pour Slow, or if I’m in a hurry and pour too warm, use my heat gun Do you do anything to prevent wet spots? No. They are not usually noticeable except to me. I just embrace them Paige
  9. Hey Harp, 155 is really high to pour and that's certainly why your tops are mottling. When I say I pour at a higher temp, it's usually around 120-125. But if everything else checks out, I wouldn't worry - enjoy the good results and the blessings of a heat gun. Paige
  10. Hmmm...... I've never had discolored wax, but soy does have mottling problems, probably the wrinkling you're mentioning. It helps if you pour at a low temp (100-105) and really slow. Sometimes it's just as easy to hit it w/a heat gun, though if you don't have time to get the temp down that far. HTH - Paige
  11. I use CB 135 and have great luck with eco wicks. I double wick anything over 3". In an 8oz jj or tumbler smaller than 3" I've found that a 8 works really well with just about any scent. I do have to wick up on th heavier scents like vanilla's and cinnamons though. I've also tested CD wick and seem to have nice success with those also, but I have a ton of eco's so that's what I primarily use. Paige
  12. Don't you just love the quirky characteristics of soy? I use EcoSoya 135 and sometimes I get wonderful tops, sometime they need the heat gun. Sometimes the mottling won't show up until the second burn. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry I'll pour at a higher temp, knowing that I'll get mottled tops, but ya gotta love those heat guns!! Paige
  13. Not sure why - I do 8oz candles and 6.44oz of wax give me plenty of wax. Usually I even have enough left over to make a tealight or two. I don't use dye and use about 6-8% of fo. Paige
  14. Hoping someone out there can help me. I've not done jelly jars before and am having trouble wicking the 8oz. I'm using CB 135 with Eco wicks. I started out with a 12 just to get my bearings, that was to hot, so I wicked down to a 10, still seem to burn to hot. I got a full mp in about 30 min. I haven't tried an 8, but I'm thinking that would be too small for the heaviness of the fo. I'm using Warm Vanilla Sugar and Cranberry Spice at 6%. I do have some cd wicks on order and was thinking maybe I just need to change wicks. Any advice? Thanks a million Paige
