  1. I have 4 prestos - labeled. Votive, container, pillar and left overs. I use the left overs for fire starters. I fill each pot with wax and UV inhibitor only. I mix wax, dye and color in a pour pot. 3 have spigots and sit up on a shelf on my work bench so I can put my scale and pot under the spigot. They used to sit on sideways milk crates, but I'm classier now. LOL Oh, I've had my oldest one for 7 or 8 years now and have never had any leaks.
  2. I tried something like that but it was just gift bags with tissue paper. It was a Mother's day show and I even had little tags made up and tied to ribbons that could be tied to the bags - Happy Mother's Day, For the Mommy-to-be, even threw in some Thinking of You and Happy Birthday just in case. I had a nice table sign to pick your bag, tag and tissue and choose 3 items to fill it. Didn't sell a one. I thought it was a great idea, but apparently I was the only one. I still think it's a great idea and hopefully you will have better luck than I!
  3. ooooh! It is definitely celestial...and pretty. I was thinking galaxy or galactic something, but my creative hat is in the wash.
  4. I know KY will allow you to do a "per show" form and pay your tax that way. However, IN requires you to register as a business (even for one show) and file quarterly tax forms. Check the state - or check with the promoter of the show. They should know.
  5. As long as that is the actual net weight of the wax and not the total weight of the wax and packaging. You can round down, but not up. So if your wax is between 3.6 and 3.8, yes, you can put 3.5 on the weight.
  6. I use the 4/1 ratio - some are a bit more, some are less. Peak Wild Cherry I always use less FO - it's a killer! But I start with a strong OOB scent. I don't care how good it is in tarts, if it isn't strong OOB it won't be strong in an ornie. For a tart you shouldn't judge OOB, but for an ornie you have to. I also know that I got in my daughter's car who was rockin' Vanilla Mint. I commented on how good her car smelled and she said she couldn't smell it anymore. Have someone else check...
  7. Wow! You were actually selling these were you? Can you say "trademark infringement"?
  8. Personally, I don't think they are too ugly...and it may just be the nature of the beast (or you could sell it as that). I print labels on full sheets and cut them out myself. I have a scrapbooking template that cuts 2-1/2 or 2-3/4.
  9. maybe you should use brighter colors...I can't see it!
  10. oh, I was so in love with the first set till I saw the blue set! Love it! Actually, they are all pretty cool. I love that they are not just round pillars.
  11. Thanks, all! No, everything is silver which is why I had to go get the silver wire. (I like the gold wire, too!) I guess you can't see it too well in the pic, but the first one is more three dimensional, but the more I look at them the more I like the spread out one. She's at her best friend's wedding today so she won't see them until Tuesday. I'll let you know what she thinks.
  12. Welcome, Cherry! I have been making candles for about 9 years and just got into M&P soap. I just don't need another addiction! But there are some great B&B people here!
  13. I need some serious constructive criticism. My daughter is getting married in a few weeks. Her hair will be pulled back in a simple style. Her veil is simple as well, just held in with a comb. I think she needs a bit of sparkle. Obviously, she has the last say, but I'm wondering which way to go. The first is really practice as I only had gold wire when I made it, but which of the two do you like (or neither) and why, please. Oh, and sorry for the dull picture - I think my camera is on it's last leg. They are Swarovski crystals and really sparkle.
  14. The cat in picture 2 looks a little multi-colored...you didn't get carried away, did you? Back in the 70's I tie dyed everything that didn't move! Can't say that I've done much since, but I really like the patterns and colors you have going on.
  15. I got mine from Cincinnati Container. I picked up so there was no shipping. They have offices in Indianapolis and Columbus, OH. They don't publish prices but I remember they were very reasonable. http://www.cincinnaticontainer.com/FAQ.aspx
  16. Woot! GFS 4.99 in stock, no shipping! Thanks, Bliss!!
  17. Oh, I didn't think of GFS. I'll try there after work tomorrow. No aversion to ordering, I just want it now!
  18. I have been to Garden Ridge, Target, Kmart, Walmart, Christmas Tree Shop and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Where on earth can I buy a crinkle cutter for soap without having to order it?
  19. Just in case your 'decoration' spots are small I found that the little tubes of Polymark work well on ornies. They are dimensional fabric paints found in Walmart craft section (and other places). I make football ornies and paint the laces and white lines at the ends. I let them sit out to dry overnight and then package. It doesn't melt, fall off or discolor.
  20. All I can say is good luck. I probably have 20 mugs downstairs in a box. I have completely given up wicking them...either soot or 1/2" hang up every time. I tried (2) HTP 62, HTP 93 and 105, LX19 and 22 (I think). Report back, please!
  21. It depends if you are making pillars - out of the pan - or containers in the pan. I have ceramic loaf pans that I make container candles in (using container wax). Since they are about 3 x 6 I treat them as (2) 3 x 3 candles and wick appropriately. I made a paper template so I can get the wicks in the correct spot each time. As for the curling wicks, I'm personally against them for the reason stated - people won't trim. But I think you need a zinc core wick to actually hold the curl.
  22. Maybe they didn't pay their website bill? :/ All three sites are not found and BitterCreek Homebrew is not found, too.
  23. LOL My son calls my basement the meth lab, too! Love the look of this soap! :highfive:
  24. My daughter's future mother-in-law had a casserole tote made from bath towels and (2) dowel rods. She said she didn't have the pattern and I would love to make one. I've unsuccessfully Googled and come up empty. Does anyone have a pattern for a tote made from bath towels?
  25. Well, not to throw you off, but it could be that you are pouring too cool. I highly recommend that you buy a lot more wax and FO's and try out all the variables. Oh, as for the search - it isn't you. It's been broken since we got this new forum in May. You get very old posts or very new posts; nothing in the middle.
