  1. :lipsrseal Closest I could come to SPEECHLESS! amazing. love the sandalwood and wisteria lane and Caribbean holiday and all of them. If I wasn't still trying to get the musty smell out of the carpet in my workroom I would go play with hot wax!
  2. Well, I can't say that I washed with plain base, but I do have different bars in my bathroom now that have different additives so I can compare. I'm happy with my base and my "recipe" but I'm testing added glycerin and added liquid soap. (So far, the glycerin is winning.) I've done small shaped soaps, but I usually wrap them 3 at a time and label. I have contemplated bagging them - candy bags from the hobby store work great for soaps. My packaging is pretty simple because I found that the less money I put into packaging, the more economically I can price my products.
  3. what is the nonsense about the tarts foaming if they are in a draft and don't be alarmed??? I'd be alarmed if I had to put that warning on anything...
  4. I don't think the OP question was about soot or carcinogens...she asked about soy burning longer so it's a better value and frost tells you it is a true soy candle. The frost part used to be true, but there are natural additives that reduce the frost so I'm not sure that is a valid point anymore. Soy does burn cooler which could make it last longer, but a properly wicked paraffin candle can burn just as long.
  5. He used the search and didn't figure out that everything found is 3 years old or older....
  6. You can do that with 3 coffee cans and a kitchen knife! Image what you could do with some proper carving tools. I think they are amazing. Intricate, symmetrical...very good job!
  7. oh, I want to do that to my ugly counters! please share how you did it...it looks fabulous!
  8. Very creative...I like it! If you just want to try some clear labels, check out your local office supply store.
  9. I would suggest a chart with what each color represents...pink, purple, teal, etc. Then let them pick a color from the chart and do your best to match it. I personally would not do a separate scent for each color. Pick 4 scents that have universal appeal and let them pick a scent and color.
  10. I have a cheapo battery from Walmart and an inverter. I think the set up cost me me around $70, but I can have my own electricity at every show...
  11. Beautiful as always! and I am definitely ready for Spring!
  12. wow, you have been busy! They all look nice. I tried that candy cane and got the same pink. A trick is to pour a super thin layer of white and let that set, then pour the rest. It helps to stop the bleeding. I really like the green palm and I love the square/ not square mold!
  13. This is my favorite color mixing...scroll to the bottom http://www.gellycandle.com/ColorChart.html
  14. I mix my own...25% para/soy blend with 75% 1343. Releases well and has great throw. Sam, I'm glad to hear someone say something positive about KY. I was hoping to save on shipping as I'm about an hour away, but I just couldn't make it work...
  15. Wow. I have never seen a mottle like that! But, I have never had much luck with mottles... With my 1343 I use 1-2 T steric per pound for mottles and 3T per pound for rustic. Spray the mold, wipe it down and pour. I get frosting every time.
  16. I didn't have much luck in my testing of KY para-soy, but I generally use 9% in my tarts. Try remelting and adding another 3%. Did you stir really well to mix the FO?
  17. I have a label that is the red circle with a line through it and a candle flame in it. Below that is "wickless". I put those on the lid of the jar. I print my warning with all my info on plain paper and fold it so my logo is on the outside and tuck it in the lid.
  18. Thanks, Alan! I felt some panic reading the threads about credit cards being hacked, but the only order I have place recently was with Peak. I was very confident that I would not be a victim of this "incident". ps aren't those kids in high school by now? really need a new pic.
  19. Seems like a lot of work went into this soap, but the finished product is so worth it! Really like it.
  20. Doesn't matter what they sell, if it looks like you are trying to capitalize on their hard-earned business name they could go after you. Definitely pick a different name. It's not worth it to fight or have to start all over building your business. A lady that lived in Corning, NY (RIP Kimberly) owed Corning Wax Works. She ended up going head to head with Corning Glass Works who said she was trying to capitalize on their business name and reputation.
  21. I printed my order forms double-sided then folded like a book. Front page had my info and the fund raisers info (who, why, etc) also info on when orders would be delivered and who to make checks payable to (the organization, not me!). Inside was the order form and on the back was a list of the scents with colors and descriptions. It seemed to work well. I never did samples.
  22. Interesting...I have 4 Teflon prestos (3 with spigot installed) and have never had a problem. I've had them for probably 6 years now. But I have read of people having the Teflon flake off and get in their wax. Stainless would certainly eliminate that, but I don't know if it would justify the cost.
  23. LOL only 10 lbs, but I'm just getting into soap and I'm just a hobby crafter now. I remember when I started making candles and would buy 10 lb slabs. I was amazed that some people called those 'sample' slabs!
  24. I use gusseted cello bags, too. I find them at Hobby Lobby in the candy/party section.
  25. very nice. there is a lot there, but it doesn't look crammed. for what it's worth, I would invest in 5' tables - easier to rearrange in a 10x10 space.
