  1. I've never made the cardboard kind so I can't say. I know mine last at least 2 months. Ornies cannot be refreshed while (I believe) the cardboard ones can.
  2. Wow! I just toss the cookie cutters on a cookie sheet, stand a flat head screw in them for the hole, fill, and bake for 3 minutes. If the A/C is on I cool on a floor vent. In the winter I set the pan on the front steps to cool. They pop out of the cookie cutters and off the pan easy as pie. Do not cool in the freezer - your ice cream will taste of FO! LOL I make mine about 1/4 to 3/8" thick.
  3. I have those jars, too and I am really liking the clear label on them! Everything looks really nice. Glad you had a good time!
  4. It's called a co-op, Darrell. When you have been here 30 days you can participate in co-ops; when you have been here 6 months you can host one. It's in the Marketplace section. I have participated in some great co-ops and been burned in some by people who bit off more than they could chew...
  5. I described it as kittens fighting in my votives when I experienced it...I was told it was from FO not being mixed in good enough. I bought a large restaurant-sized slotted spoon for stirring and have never had the problem again.
  6. That is a pretty interesting placement of the pictures. LOL I went back and forth, too. I think I decided no color. I asked my son and he said no color also, but he also said the candles should have color. :rolleyes2
  7. I use a soy/paraffin blend, but Purely Peppermint is what prompted me to get a respirator when pouring. I use it at 3% and it is a winner!
  8. Don't know if it will help, but there is a sticky at the top of the veggie wax forum that has FO's that throw well in soy. Peak is in post #7
  9. Oh, I really like the square pillar. I'm not sure about Mexican blanket, but I like it!
  10. Tape them to sucker sticks (candy section of the craft store) and stand them in little bowls of blue M&M's!
  11. Good to know, Scented. I loved FOH and I'm glad to see Elements has it.
  12. you might as just use the published wick charts - they are tested with uncolored, unscented paraffin wax.
  13. I actually have 4 prestos, but one is for dipping pine cones - it gets all the left over bits. It just makes it easier to have one for pillar, one for container and one for votive. And I learned early to label them! The shelves are actually build-it-yourself shoe racks from Kmart. They work great! There are navy blue dye dots on the wall, but the crazy paint job was on the walls when I moved in and I left it. The movie posters are from when my son worked at a video store.
  14. it looks like tissue paper to me. I have covered votive holders in pieces of tissue paper and put mod podge over it all...kind of gives the same glow.
  15. Hold on tight, Darrell! It's going to be a wild ride. I don't use that wax, but I'm sure you'll find lots of helpful folks here that do. Enjoy your new addiction.
  16. Well, I wondered what all the tips were that filled 4 pages...silly me. Scented, I have never thrown a mold, but I'll keep that in mind. My addition to this thread would be to never shake a bottle of liquid dye when you are pissed at your ex. I think there are still navy blue dots on the wall.
  17. I've never seen them there, but then I haven't looked. From previous discussions, all aroma beads are not created equal. I get mine from BCN but I know there are other suppliers.
  18. I had to go look, but I use 15 x 6. I don't put the wick all the way to the bottom but crimp up in the neck. I think if you have it wicked correctly, the melt pool isn't too deep and the wick doesn't fall over. BCN has 31.8 x 3.8...kind of a compromise...
  19. I actually had one melt last month - my own dumb fault. I parked facing the afternoon sun and put my silver reflective sun shade up...but I left the ornie trapped between the shade and the window. It didn't actually melt, just got really soft and pulled off the elastic. I've had one hanging in my car for probably the last 3 years (gotta test ya know!) and this was the first one to ever melt.
  20. Well, since the search function isn't working I would just say start reading. LOL I used SFIC base that I get in co-ops, but you can get it at other places also. I also add other ingredients to my base. There is a couple of great threads in here somewhere about recipes and additives. I know a lot of people like Essentials by Catalina and Stephenson (I think). I did try WSP and it was nice soap but I thought it was too soft and too expensive. Have fun!
  21. Absolutely adorable! You know candle making is a great creative outlet and stress reliever. Keep your chin up!
  22. That shoe is one of my biggest sellers! I got it from cookiecutters.com. They call it a slipper. I actually got a Red Hat set that has tea cup, hat, shoe and tea pot. I don't see that set anymore, but they do have a Ladies Day Out set.
  23. I haven't bought supplies in forever. A lot of my bookmarks are no longer valid and what I did find... I thought it was an expensive hobby before!
  24. How did I miss these! Beautiful! I can almost smell them. LOL
