  1. Got some 4625 to experiment with. Um, how the heck do you break up these slabs? Jeesh, not sure how I am going to break it up. Suggestions? Drop the slab, sledge hammer?
  2. Interesting. The candles that always give me wet spots are those with paraffin even small percentage of 4627. One of my goals was to make a candle without shrinkage, smooth top and afterburn, and obvi smells good. This I have done with a blend of natural waxes. You shouldn’t have shrinkage with soy candles - you have to formulate so they don’t shrink in various conditions.
  3. I bought some square glass containers and now have to fill them up. Have no idea how to wick these puppies as they are quite large. They are four inches diagonally. Am I correct wicking them on the diagonal?
  4. Hmm. Make you wonder that all candle fragrance oils have been diluted for sale through supplier to cut cost and gain $$. Ultra to me means just uncut and used as marketing ploy. I do have a wild imagination.
  5. Are you using any other additives like titanium dioxide - that will kill your wick.
  6. You should write Flaming or call them and explain what’s going on with the fragrance and find out if they tested it. My age you have to cut the percentage of the fo. I don’t know this one is it strong? Maybe you don’t need a high percentage.
  7. I have found this as well with smoky fragrances. What you could do if this is happening blend it with something you know burns well in your wax - of course it has to smell good but it will help with these type of fragrances.
  8. You could mix a neroli with orange experiment
  9. I just got a sample of their citrus spruce spruce and love it
  10. I saw some under the bed plastic storage boxes, not the super huge that could be used for candles. They are not too tall like the styrofoam ones, so you can pour the candles and even put the top on while cooling. Chuck a blanket on top!
  11. It’s nice to know obsessive will hopefully pay off 🌞
  12. Get the super super dawn and use it straight on the silicone mold. Wash with super hot water. Also di limolene is r early good at removing the waxy and greasy. Silicone tends to hold onto greasy stuff and shows up as white residue. It can be a big pain in the neck, but me like the ease. i have various silicone molds and have not had an issue of smell transfer.
  13. I use sodium lactate. Another trick is clean mold super well and dry completely. Spray cyclomethicone evenly all over mold. Helps.
  14. I did not love this wax. I hated all the grumpy rough tops. To me if you are buying a candle, the candle should look like perfection. needs to be blended for beauty.
  15. I wick for quicker pool because consumers, the customers need great oompa loompa fragrance hitting their nostrils in a flash. Many people light the candle for a little bit then put it out and then ruins the candle with tunneling for future burns. i have some purchased candles. Bath and body works one that if it had a wick you wouldn’t know. Wouldn’t even burn. Useless threw it out. Have another one from Target, I have no idea how this even gets shipped. The wax is so soft, softer than 4627 with one wick in a large can and to be honest that thing will be a torchlight. So that is too extreme. Middle ground is good to me. Not too fast, not too slow.
  16. Whisks stainless are good too, then you really know you have the fragrance molecules in the wax but you can’t go overboard and make scrambled wax by being too enthusiastic with one.😳
  17. I have only used fos not sos in candles. What percentage do you put in, as yikes that’s expensive.
  18. Had a link and cannot find it and will not buy Fromm Lab and Company as I think they are just so overpriced. Obvi someone makes it because there are a ton o candles out there, not just essential oil!
  19. Try formula above, whip and let sit and see how you like the texture. Too hard add more oil. Just to warn you a lot of people have complaints the Shea get grainy - you will feel in the texture like tiny pebbles. There is a lot written about trying to get rid of that and it can be a big pain. if you do a body butter with water, like thick one such as body shop you will eliminate this problem, but it’s different technique and you have to preserve. But if you are up to learning, once you know how to make your own lotions and creams you won’t buy them anymore from the drugstore which are mainly mineral oil based.

  22. Oh I want to try that! Like haha I need anymore supplies.
  23. This is waterfree and you have to play with amounts to your liking. If you are looking for thick lotion body butter you have to formulate with water, emulsifier, oils and butter and preservative. Just oil body butter you will not need preservative. Just oils 80% Shea18% oil1% Vitamin E (optional)1% fragrance
  24. WhatI want to know if that additive works! Most are scented!
