  1. I hope my comment won't be considered as rude or anything, and my intent is certainly not to be ... only to offer that in my research here, I have been collecting comments about CS scents, as I have with other suppliers in order to have the information available to me when I place orders. There have been some scents from CS that received bad reviews here ... of the "autumn types" my collected notes had the following comments: strudel and spice - no throw in 464 cinnamon bun - it will not burn at all with my normal fragrance load pecan pie - weird, weak, nutty fig tree - men's after shave splash I'm sorry that I did not save the poster's names with the comments, but for my purpose, I'm merely collecting comments sometimes when I see something that jumps out at me (i.e., a scent that I might accidentally purchase if I hadn't read the review.) Of course, what may not work for one person could work for another, so I usually look at "overall" reviews, but I know that the ones posted here are objective, which is why I've saved some of them. It's always nice to see good reviews, but in reality, every supplier I've ever purchased from has had some duds. I guess for ones that have received poor reviews, if your budget and time are tight, go lightly or make another choice. I enjoy seeing both good and bad, so please don't take this wrong. While here, I'll share some of the other notes since it's simply a matter of cut/paste just now ... (some are funny, this is not the complete list I've saved): chocolate - fake fudge pineapple sage: Make / Your / Own clean cotton: Never / Buy / Again peach nectar - thick, rich, rotten black raspberry vanilla - fake sweet horrible amaretto nog (received a poor review)
  2. I am assuming that your wax has a melt point of over 136dF, which would mean that the supplier probably sold you Vybar 103 ... they must have meant 1% ... it should only be used at .25 to 1%. If your wax has a melt point of less than 136dF, then you can use a little more, but not much more. I do not believe the brown color is the problem really as far as the bleeding goes ... try again and see what happens now.
  3. I'm going to sample the Ginger Spice from WSP to see how that goes -- I'm thinking it might mix well with perhaps pumpkin or orange. It had good reviews overall, one describing it as: "like gingerbread with vanilla" ... it sounds nice anyway.
  4. Very nice jar, label, and lid ... and I like that the craters in the moon are realistic, pretty.
  5. Clear Black - I actually like the smell of cow poop so ya....theres that lol LOL ... just kidding here, but I think Candybee owes Clear Black an apology!
  6. That's true, the window shoppers can make your booth look busy. Negative shoppers like to try to get on people's nerves somehow, don't ask me why. The only time they really need to be pushed aside is when there are actual customers waiting for attention, then they're not even worth talking to, imo.
  7. I agree with Candybee as far as having any control over your product. The only way I could see it working to your advantage is if you don't care about it and are mainly using it for marketing. I am assuming you can place a stack of business cards in front of your table. If that is permitted and you have some money to throw at it, then it could be worth stocking with minimum just to get the exposure. But, if you're not in a position to invest in marketing, which sometimes works out and sometimes doesn't, depending on a wide assortment of reasons, I'd listen to Candybee ... not a good set up if you personally cannot be there to be a part of the scene.
  8. I know this is a little off topic, but is there a way to avoid having all of your products handled? It seems like having "tester" products might make it less appealing for those who would like to handle everything just to know they've somehow touched and spread their germs sufficiently. Some people, imo, go to craft fairs just to window shop and it's always better if you can keep those types away from the true shoppers so their negative presence doesn't affect your sales.
  9. I think it would be good to have a label that not only tells the name of the creator, weight of the product, the name of the scent, if e/o's are used, but also some precautionary advice. I've seen little labels that say "not for consumption," or "not edible," etc. It might also be good to say to not set scented wax on a lacquered surface, or other tips for use. Of course, instructions for use is something that should be there. I've never seen that there are specific regulations regarding this product in the U.S.
  10. Where is the link to see your photos @Moondance Candle Art ? I'd like to see them. The only thing I've ever done, which I'm sure you would probably laugh at, was use a Phillip's screwdriver to pound little dots that looked like white confetti. I had to do the "dots" scattered because I couldn't get the hand movement down very well to do anything but that!
  11. I think they look good too. A thought regarding basil-sage-mint ... perhaps "Sagebrush" could work for that one. (?)
  12. I bought some from Organic Creations, I don't know if it was a good price or not, but I was ordering some other products from them, so it was better to go ahead and pick up what I needed at the time. ( link )
  13. It's so pretty over your way! At least as I recall ... I lived in the north-eastern part of the state, just below the NY border, long ago!
  14. There are some good names suggested here! All I can think of is "Judge Roy (Vanilla) Bean" ...
  15. Hi LRed & welcome, What part of NJ are you from? I once lived in the Garden State myself.
  16. As the old saying goes (something like this) ... an item is only worth what it can do for you. If you really like a particular candle, the look/feel/scent, etc. ... if the price is within your budget, you may buy it. I used to sell candles at a local consignment shop and the gal at the shop marked a price wrong on one of them -- a small one that should have been marked rather low, but she marked it high. It sold. When I realized what happened, she said to me that you never know what someone is going to like, or what they'll pay for it.
  17. Okay, still thinking about this ... maybe I can think of something in the here & now. Welcome to the World of Wax Where pouring candles helps you relax It doesn't take a lot of skill But, it requires much determination and will.
  18. I've never smelled "Black Licorice" candle scent before, but I recently spotted it listed. I wonder what that would be like? Did you get your berry figured out? I've been wondering who carries a nice, strong Blackberry or Black Cherry.
  19. Welcome to the world of wax ... ... there's a poem in there somewhere, I'll have to think about it!
  20. I think some people "TM" names when they really shouldn't be "TM'd" -- when I see some names with a TM on a website when there are several, I've got to wonder if they are actually registered trademarks, or simply displayed with TM as unregistered trademarks. Here's a "for instance"-- on another browser window, I have open a page to a scent supplier and check out some of the names that are showing a "TM" ... Spiced Apple Pie Raspberry Cordial Sweetgrass Now, I know for a fact that other suppliers have scent names with these names, so I doubt these are trademarked names. I just thought I'd share this.
  21. I need to get some flavors!! I love to make marshmallows ... although I don't know about selling food items, I'm sure there's probably some licensing that has to occur first. Not to go off-topic, but for personal and gifts, these things are great. Here's a photo of a tray before they were cut, I'll try to share more sometime in the O/T section.
