  1. Long ago, I read that your first burn session is a "memory burn" and that you want to create a full melt pool on the first burn, so I've always burned candles that way. I've also read that a rule of thumb to this is approx. an hour per inch in diameter, so, for instance, a 3" candle would probably require at least a three-hour burn on the first session. So, now I'm a bit confused too! Maybe this practice is for pillars and novelties, not containers? Since I always do it, I haven't tested to see what happens if you don't ... what happens?
  2. I used to make embeds for gel candles when I was more active with gel candles -- cool that you have silicone molds! I used candy molds, but many of them turned out nicely. I'm keeping most of my molds just in case I get the urge to do them again! I used hurricane wax (high melt point wax) and specialty glitters (fine and I think some are ultra-fine, I'd have to look) ... I would sprinkle just a bit in the bottom of the mold and then gently pour. For using them, I did it a couple of different ways, but for ones up against the glass, I have a nice method that I use that usually works out well. Answering your post is making me want to get some more gel!!
  3. Thanks for the welcomes! As for "birdcharm" -- I was trying to think of a user name (long ago for another I.D.), and was stumped. Yes, I enjoy wild birds! So I coupled that with "charm" like on a bracelet and there it was. I married a birdwatcher years ago and have spent many wonderful days going out & about to see what is singing, nesting, migrating through and all those other things birds do!
  4. Hi ! I'm a wallflower who has been reading here the last couple of days! I've enjoyed this site, so right now I'm your newest member!
