  1. I too use online labels.
  2. I called mine Monkey Business when I made it. Though my lip balm I keep as Monkey Farts just because of the laughs and remarks it get.
  3. I have found that like many things it takes time for the scent to blend through and come to it's full potential. I generally scent my lotion bars at 1%-2%. After sitting for a week I find the fragrance strengthens.
  4. I too purchased from them when I first started (B&B products) as they are local to me and I could pick up. Some of their scents were okay but many posed issues with ricing/seizing in my soaps and didn't stick well. It's been years though so maybe they've gotten better. I also don't like that they have different strengths which leads me to think they may dilute the basic levels. No proof though. I hear about them once in a blue moon on forums or facebook groups.
  5. I hope you didn't think I was being mean or angry, because that wasn't my intent at all. I was just stating my personal point of view as were you. I just explained why I felt that way. We are all entitled to share as much or as little as we choose. Just because I don't agree with you is no reason to leave. I won't agree with someone because that's what they want to hear. Just not my nature. Also, the way someone writes it and someone reads may not be the same. So on the interwebs there's a bit of disadvantage in translation sometimes.
  6. @CandleRush - I disagree. I have put in years of time, energy and money. I'm not just handing over my recipes. Would I share a basic recipe or give a starting point? Absolutely. If someone posts a recipe and asks for feedback I will give the best advice and suggestions I possibly can. Why would I give someone my particular recipe when I did all the research and testing? I will share suppliers, feedback on recipes and help if fixes are needed if I can. I would never go into a forum saying hey, I need a recipe. Do you realize how many new folks start selling after their first or second batches. Is my recipe all that special, maybe not, I'm sure many have something very similar. But, it's mine. It's poor form to just ask for a recipe. Tell me what you've done and put into it so far then I'm more than happy to help. I make soap, B&B products.
  7. I have never heard of them, they have a nice selection and may be worth a shot to try. It looks like they've had a good presence and will be selling via Walmart according to their FAQ's .
  8. So, do you want the rainbow heart inside the round soap? Or are you just looking for a round soap in rainbow colors? Sorry, just trying to get a clear picture. I don't do much with large embeds. And getting just a rainbow pattern to be in each soap may be a bit difficult too. Short of just swirls. Interesting though.
  9. I purchase a dark Indonesian Patchouli from here: http://www.fragrancelaboratory.com/store.html#!/Patchouli-Oil-Dark-Indonesian-Essential-Oil/p/36089366/category=9255019 It was recommended by a long time soapmaker on another forum. It's a really good seller for me for the past 6 years. I have a few customers who order an entire batch or 2 each year. It's dark and earthy and has grown on me. And the price I find is extremely reasonable.
  10. And excellent in soap. One of my best sellers but strong. I use it at 3%.. It's my husband's personal favorite.
  11. I so agree with you. I've been recently seeing so many new folks that have been making soap for 3 months and have already gone full fledged into selling and think they know it all on another forum. It absolutely makes me crazy. Can't tell them any different. I avoid those folk like the plague as they already know it all and have an amazing product. I too well over a year of making soap and B&B products and a lot of money before starting to sell. But so worth it in the end.
  12. I agree, lemongrass sticks like crazy. I forgot about Litsea.
  13. My experience is the same as TallTayl. I don't use clay in my soap (dries me out) and don't find that it helps anchor scents at all. I tried them very early on in my soapmaking and eventually gave up. I really don't have a problem with most sticking well. Citrus can be a problem but I use lemongrass or 10x orange and some lime and they stick pretty darn well. Patchouli sticks like the dickens for me. I sell a lot of it but keep a bar from each batch.
  14. I think that may be your problem. Not gelling in silicone can take longer to un-mold than 24 hours. I have nurture molds that I use pretty exclusively and are 4 years old and if the soap is too soft it will stick. I gel all my soaps and use sodium lactate. I un-mold at 18-24 hours gelled. Couldn't imagine trying ungelled soap.
  15. Those are all lovely! I use to crochet but haven't done so in years.
  16. I use the Lilac from NG. I've tried about 8 of them and my customers that are lilac fiends like this one best. I make Soap, B&B. The only think I dislike is it discolors to a tan so I have to us VS in my soaps.
  17. Fantastic job as always. I love the last two. So cute.
  18. I use HO sunflower and Avocado in my soaps. I've never used Vitamin E but do add ROE to my oils when I open them.
  19. I quit purchasing from Peak the first time they went out of business. Can't have a company that can't make up their mind what they are doing. Extremely unprofessional and wish washy to me.
  20. @aptommo what about adding some silver/light gray to brighten it up a bit? It's taken me years and I still tweak my display a bit every year. It's an ongoing process for sure. You'll get it figured out the more shows you do.
