  1. I use CS lilac and CS lavender I think both are very good. Great hot throw for me too. I feel like they are true to the actual flowers
  2. Ohhh I like winter lodge and Christmas cabin
  3. yea the runner up for me would be the label under the tan one. But I think that you should go with/ show your account the Black and White one, for me the others don't even compare
  4. Hi everyone i need assistance! I made my own blend for a winter candle. Its blue spruce, Fraser fir, and Cinnamon Vanilla (1-1-1). I have no clue what to call it ;-( evergreen heavy scent with the Fraser fir being the dominant scent but the cinnamon and vanilla helps balance it out. some names I have: Christmas Garland Winter Walk Snowy evergreens Road less traveled - or The Road Not Taken Winter Sleigh ride Snowy evening any suggestions would be amazing.
  5. YES! i love that black and white one! its so classy! its not particularly Victorian but i think it would fit in the shop from your description. I say that one. the runner up for me would be the 4th one down of the hydrangea/ rose combo
  6. I like #1 and #3 #1- i like how the flowers are smaller on the label, but the color seems a bit to muddled for me. #3- i like the placement of the roses and the hydrangeas, can you make the hydrangeas a purple( blue or pink the naturally occurring shades) so that they stand out more from the background? but part of me does agree with candybee with the flower choice, though i'm not sure that a shopper would pick up on the fact that there's no lavender on the label and it may actually help with getting people to read the name rather than looking at the pictures? I ruled out #2 because of the placement of the shop name being in the band with the scent name and you also loose the white flowers behind the band and i prefer the placement of the rose in #3 being more on the side. they are very pretty, you always do a great job with your labels.
  7. Yea, i had every intention of putting them out before the holidays but we bought a house and along with moving and the new puppy I am finally getting around to doing them. I hope to be better about it for next season though
  8. This is my first holiday season selling but Pumpkin souffle and apple harvest did really well for me before thanksgiving. I did a shop local sale the weekend after thanksgiving and this past weekend so ill see if sold any of the cinnamon candles and blue spruce candles i have. I just made my own blend candles yesterday, along with Amaretto eggnog, and the other week I made apple maple bourbon. I cant wait to see how i did these past weekends and get my holiday scents into my booth. (all fragences are CS)
  9. i think i would do a tester with the eco 8s or 10s just to see what the difference is. I find that with the candle science suggestions I tend to need to wick down. I do power burns and want to make sure that my containers don't get too hot when i have them burning all day long ( that's how i assume other people will be burning their candles) I use the eco10s for the 8oz square mason jars if that give any reference at all (i use GB 444 though)
  10. Many suppliers offer test kits for wicks, you could try afew different types along with the ECO. I use Eco wicks with GB 444 soy, you could try to double wick the container with maybe eco 2's? I feel like birdcharm maybe correct though, I believe coconut is quite a bit softer than soy so if you have a test kit i would keep going down in size on the ECO wicks, the wick maybe too hot and is actually drowning its self by creating the melt pool too quickly and is just tunneling down? I would maybe try an Eco 4 or 6. Candlescience sells a test kit of wick sizes.
  11. all i can find is the chintzy wire ones, Milk house candles has similar handles on their candles. i found a photo with those handles from Etsy but they werent on the site anymore must have been from an old listing. I found Colonial tin, they had lots of rustic country accessories but they were pricey and i didnt see what you were looking for. I would love to be able to find those handles!
  12. It was majority the evergreen scents, mostly the blue spruce but I would have preferred more of the Frasier fir but I only had .25oz left. I use gb 444 soy.
  13. This weekend i decided to mess around with the tail end of the CS Fraser Fir i had. I mixed it with CS Blue Spruce and CS Cinnamon Vanilla. I was so excited by the cold throw that i needed to burn it the same day i poured and it smelled great! I cant wait till i burn the the other candle with this mix after curing. i definitely suggest trying this combo (or a similar combo). I think i have seen similar blends on here so i dont really think that its too original but its a great blend! Man i need to order more supplies ;-(
  14. I know there are so many great scents out there that i would love, love, love to try! but i already offer way too many scents in my little booth. at least i have an excuse to buy more for the christmas season :-)
  15. Omg!! i remembered why i have been avoiding the fragrance posts! My favorite is CS- apple and maple bourbon Close second is apple harvest from CS. Oh and CS blue spruce. i try to stay with the one supplier. its been the way ive limited the number of scents i have. There are still too many other scents i love.
  16. Here is another option for a presto pot ready for wax http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRESTO-POT-WAX-MELTING-CANDLE-MAKING-WITH-SPOUT-NEW-/230797460143
  17. I think i am about to buy a presto pot in order to get my candle making out of the kitchen lol, found this seller on another thread from years ago, the pot already has the spout for easy pouring. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRESTO-POT-WAX-MELTING-CANDLE-MAKING-WITH-SPOUT-NEW-/230797460143 price isn't bad either, i think it makes more sense than the two pour pots on the burner.
  18. Perfect! I figured that you could mix the colors but I wasnt sure and didnt want to buy a bunch of colors and not have it work. Thanks so much @jcandleattic
  19. So I am about to place an order for my Winter/ Holiday scents and want to color some of my candles since those have sold faster with my shoppers than my uncolored candles, but many of the scents i want would possibly have the same colors based on what is available with the liquid dyes from candle science ( I have come dye chips and dont really like them in my soy candles for whatever reason). Can you combine colors to make custom? or do the dyes not mix like paint would? I only have magenta and a light blue color right now and haven't had time to test mixing them due to moving.
  20. I tend to agree with many of the other comments advising to proceed with caution on using recycled jars to sell or give away. I will admit that i do have a large basket of vintage glass jars with latching lids i would like to use but instead of putting candles in them i may make tarts and fill the jars with the tarts to sell instead. Now would i love to use them as candles of course I would! They are beautiful vintage old glass, but i am apprehensive knowing there could be a weakness in the class that cant be seen with the naked eye and i dont know their history. The risk is not knowing how the glass has been treated after its original use or the number of times it was used for canning/ for jam etc. Also the glass being exposed to extreme cold changes the structure of the glass since glass is not a true solid ( on a molecular level it is still moving), freezing it can create weakness. If you want to sell candles in the jelly jars they really arent that expensive to buy new and you can be more secure with the fact that the jar has hopefully not been exposed to extreme heat and cold 100xs over causing weaknesses in the glass. Now if you dont have any qualms about using the recycled jars go for it ( as i do see larger companies using recycled wine and beer bottles at least, not so much the canning/jelly jars) its up to you what you feel comfortable doing.
  21. I dont really have a dupe for you but maybe for others that may have an idea here is the description i found on amazon- "Vanilla and heliotrope combined with violet and jasmine make up the heart of this creation, then mandarin, succulent peaches and green ivy complete the soul." maybe someone will have some good suggestions, you may need to play around with scents and try to make your own.
  22. I use it in gb 444 and it has a real strong HT. i havent used your wax but maybe its a wick/ wax combo/ FO load issue? Also possibly it needs a longer cure time?
  23. So awesome! I really love the white ceramic one you posted first
  24. If it smells like cologne you could do a "man" scent and rename it Lumberjack or Outdoorsman?
