  1. Thanks! I've been looking for a great Cotton Candy so I will try theirs for sure!
  2. You can find Madisons and Tumblers with those metal lids at Fillmore. http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/8-oz-Madison-P111.aspx?c=1
  3. After seeing this, I feel as though my zinc-wick mushrooming issues are fairly insignificant!
  4. I thought this might make you feel a little better about flame size!
  5. That would be helpful! I do love JS, but it I think that their tactic backfires; anytime I see a fragrance (that they rave about in the description) with no reviews I think, "hmm, there's no reviews, there must have been only negative ones that they didn't post!" In any event, I just ordered a bunch of FO from them, some with no reviews but I'll have to smell for myself!
  6. Peak's! Hands down for me; cold and hot throws are stellar. My customers adore it! This is one you can't judge OOB because it cures brilliantly. I tried JS, smells great OOB but cured sometimes there's a strange rancid, can't really describe it! So yes, PEAK!
  7. I really adore Fillmore as well! Their "Pumpkin Soufflé" smells so amazing I could drink it! Yes, the amber bottle touch is just A+ for me. Their jars as well of course are super!
  8. Greetings everyone! I've purchased a few times from JS and have always been satisfied, but does anyone else find it annoying that they only post the positive reviews for their oils on their website? I find that other suppliers such as Peak post the negative reviews as well as the positives. I like to take into account the pros and cons from reviewers before I purchase; because unfortunately we can't smell test through the screen! Yet!
  9. Hello there! I've been an avid user of 4786 for a couple years now; I LOVE it for its opacity, smoothness and fragrance load. I as well do blending, sometimes with 4625 or 4627. Anyway, tall flames are the bane of my candle making existence; I've tried so many different wicks in search for the perfect flame. Wick perfection unfortunately doesn't exist, but I will give you my two cents on what works for me: I find that cure time makes an inordinate difference for the height of the flame; I've tried a 24 hour cure vs a week vs a month and the flame size drastically improves for me. I use either Peak's Cotton Cores or Zincs. Cotton cores burn beautifully without mushrooming but the cure time for flame height is essential. Zincs I have found to be the most consistent and contained flames, I can light a candle the same day I made it or a month later and it's pretty much the same. Chuck_35550 is right; sometimes as chandlers we obsess over things like flame-height when the customer only cares if it smells great and throws well!
  10. Hello All! I am an avid user of Peak's Cotton Cores; I love their similarity to zincs but without the ugly mushroom caps! Anyway, I find this HUGE disparity between the 40s to the next size which are 50s; Without fail the 50s have super tall flames for me; whereas the 40s have almost nearly the perfect flame height everytime. The only problem is the 40s only come in a 2.5 inch. I wish they made a 40 in a 6 inch for my taller freestanders or a 45 maybe?! Does anyone else use these? I can't image ever going up to an 85, the flames must be enormous!
  11. Yes of course! I purchased Marshmallow from an obscure supplier on Ebay (fpfragranceoilsandbeyondtheporchboutique) that name, I know! It's strange oob but once cured it's nice and mellow. I can imagine that any marshmallow would work really; I've tried the candy corn blend with two different marshmallows and they both came out yummy! And I get my Candy Corn from Candlelynn Supplies on Etsy, it is hands down the BEST and I've tried them all!
  12. Haha, I LOVE this topic! I am a novelty scent junkie so SaveonScents is my go to, and I've tried them all from Band Aid to Gym Socks! I would have to say their "Pot Roast" is the querkiest based on accuracy alone. It smells more like Pot Roast than Pot Roast itself! That sauteed onion smell is captured to perfection!
  13. I am OBSESSED with anything and everything Pumpkin; I think I've bought every pumpkin FO from every supplier! The winners? ? Peak's Pumpkin Caramel Latte ? Fillmore's Pumpkin Soufflee What a fun topic! I love reading all the faves!
  14. Marshmallow Peeps is precisely the FO I've been trying to capture as well! I've been dissatisfied with the 2 suppliers' versions I had purchased, so I picked up a pack of real Peeps at the store as reference; they actually had no smell! So weird; literally nothing! But I knew I wanted a sugary, marshmallowy confection which makes one think of Peeps... So, I actually blended a straight marshmallow with candy corn of all things; it smells really good and super peepsy I think!
  15. Hello Everyone, hope you're all well! I adore how Peak includes a free FO sample (the only supplier I know who does). Anyway, I've ordered from them 10+ times now and officially have my 6th bottle of "Berrylicious"! I'm too grateful for the sample to risk sounding rude, but I really wish they would send me a different FO because I won't even use one bottle; I dislike it so. I did order their "Pumpkin Caramel Latte" and it's to DIE for, so it makes up for the Berrylicious incident. ?
  16. I too am on the hunt for a great candy corn! I've tried JS and a few Etsy suppliers with no luck. Most of them smell just like vanilla (which I have way too many bottles of), or they have a strange, chemical odor. My hunt for the great candy corn continues!
  17. Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions! I have tried a few now and there are two I like the best: There is actually a supplier on Etsy (ScentConnection) who sells a Pumpkin Pie; I didn't expect much as it comes in a plastic bottle and it's pretty inexpensive but it smells really great and has a super strong hot/cold throw! My favorite so far is "Pumpkin Souflee" from Fillmore Container. It's heavenly! It's rich with pumpkin, spice, raisins and caramel. It's amazing and captures the essence of Autumn brilliantly!

    Custom Molds?

Thanks, I will check that out!
  19. Oh my, I know all to well about the dreaded full smell! I had spent a year at battle with one FO I was determined to use. I gave up on the candle and made wax melts with it instead. I had tried EVERYTHING: adding vanilla, changing wicks, changing wax, changing temps, etc. I even got the fuel smell with candle gel as well! I would pay money at this point to find out WHY this happens!!!

    Custom Molds?

Hello everyone! I have contacted 3 different companies asking about custom candle molds with no response. I was wondering if any of you know of a company that does custom silicone molds? I would LOVE to make them myself but mold making just seems so daunting and I need a professional. Thanks!
  21. Wow! Awesome, thank you for this information! Yesterday I was feeling really discouraged; but back to the drawing board today with mild success. I poured hotter, then left it in the oven to remove bubbles. I turned off the oven and added the frozen embed once the gel was warm enough to still immerse it. It came out far better than yesterday; a few bubbles but much better! I would LOVE this machine to skip all the oven business though!
  22. Arghhh. I know. The nature of the beast. I pour hot, less bubbles but I melt the embed. I pour cooler, embed in tact but a legion of BUBBLES! I wish there were an easier way, other than that $3000 gel bubble eliminator machine! The sunny window trick was just that, a trick. I am feeling discouraged; any suggestions, tips or advice from all the experienced gel chandlers would be very much appreciated!
