  1. I ordered 3 samples from SOS over the weekend. The site is a bit overwhelming. They have many of the ones you noted, grama they even have a straight sausage. I was looking for a dupe of the original Old Spice. I ordered an ounce but will probably not go forward with it since a pound of it will run me over $60.00. Karen in MA
  2. I placed an order over the weekend and got a pound of each. I have loved every Fillmore scent but one that I have tried and that was the leather. I also added Mahogany Teakwood while I was at it: Dry notes of Mahogany, and teakwood perfectly mixed with bergamot, sweet citron, ylang ylang, and cinnamon bark. A great addition for a Men’s line, but have no fear, this woodsy scent will be enjoyed by all. The order should be here tomorrow and I will let you all know how the smell OOB. Karen in MA
  3. Hello everyone, I am in search of a dupe for a scent called Woodfire. It is a discontinued scent sold by West Elm candle. A customer was looking for it or something close and I generally don't do this but the scent sounded intriguing. Here is a description and note list from the candle. Seductive cedarwood and smoke accords mix with heady patchouli leaves and warm vanilla Top notes: leather, aldehyde, amber Middle: geranium, nutmeg, sugar, incense Base: patchouli, cedar, vetiver, oakmoss I have searched a ton of sights looking for something similar but my eyes are starting to cross and they are all starting to look the same. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, it looks a bit too complex to try and mix myself. Thank you, Karen in MA
  4. Hi everyone, I know there was a thread below about ICS and some of the scents out of stock but this morning when I went to try and reorder a few Serendipity was no longer listed at all. I have emailed them to see if they will be carrying it anymore or not and still waiting on a reply. Has anyone else heard if they are dropping it or not? I was trying to wait before I ordered from anyone else but I cannot wait any longer. I am going to order some 8 oz's to try from the following: Just Scent, Fragrance Buddy and BCN, theirs is called Cupid. Any thoughts on what one is better. I vaguely remember trying the JS one in wax a few years back but went with ICS as I thought it was the strongest and best smelling. It is funny how I would make this and it would sit around and not sell and now I cannot keep it in stock. Thanks, karen in MA
  5. Funny cause Bonfire Bliss is a big seller for me I call it Backyad Bonfire. It has a bit of marshmallow in it so that is the sweet. I also sell a lot of the Smoked Birch but call it Crackling Birch. Weird how some scents sell for some and not for others. I cannot sell Lovespell at all and chocolate is a slow mover for me. I was on the hunt for a good fireplace smell when I came across those two. Karen in MA
  6. Green pumpkin was a definite no for me. I was also not crazy about Stone House Reserve or the Hummingbird Nectar. My husband loved the Tinsel Tree and said it smelled more like a Christmas tree than any of my other scents. I agree justajesuschick I smell no coffee in the Hipster but I loved the Caramel Cafe OOB. 7. Has anyone gotten the new sampler from Rustic Essentials? I got my order yesterday and I have to say I love almost all of them. There are a few I was not crazy about. Now to try and come up with some new names as some of them I am not crazy about. The first one is the Hipster scent, it is a great scent that I think the guys would love but I hate the name. Does any one have any suggestions? It is a scent that is supposed to be like the bearded lumberjack in a coffee shop. Karen in MA
  8. I only used a few of their oils as there are so many other suppliers. I did get a few basic oils like vanilla and apple pie yesterday as all the oils are on sale but nothing that I could not find elsewhere. I did love the almond pear and honey so will be looking elsewhere for that. I wish I had the money as I would buy in a heartbeat. There is only one other candle supplier in New England and their prices are ridiculously high. I wish Kim all the best. Karen in MA
  9. Moonstar the Lavender Rosemary and sage is a great seller for me. I personally hate lavender but can tolerate this mix. I do use their orange creamsicle now, I was using the one from the candle source and since I am ordering jars and wax from Fillmore I have tried to move most of my scents to them also. I think I have tried almost all of them. I do like the warm vanilla caramel it is really good. Karen in MA
  10. So far I have loved every Fillmore fragrance I have tried and that is almost all of them. Last week I placed an order and added Leather to the order. I usually use Wild WIld West from NG. Since I have loved all the previous scents I ordered a pound to start. Big mistake I hate it. It has a very fake leather smell to it oob and I don't even want to add it to wax. I know many scents change in wax. Has anyone else tried this and were happier when it was added to wax or does anyone have any suggestions on what to mix with it so it is not a complete waste. Thanks, Karen in MA
  11. Good morning, I am wondering if anyone else has had a problem with weeping for this particular scent? I am using 444 and 8.25 % Well under the fragrance load limit for the wax. Fragrance added at 185 and poured at a slight slushy stage. I have only had this happen one other time with Witches Brew. Since they are similar scents in nature I was thinking it had something to do with it. Thanks, Karen in MA
  12. I just did the presentation with them. It seems like it could be a good thing. Pretty much you get paid wholesale pricing and they sell retail. It seems way more user friendly then Amazon Handmade. I will let you know how the process goes. Karen in MA
  13. There is no knob for the temp dial. My problem is I have no clue what kind of melter it is. The only name on it anywhere is the tempco. I guess I will just continue to use plyers to turn it on and off. Karen in MA
  14. Ok sorry everyone I have no clue what is going on and I cannot rotate any of my pics.
  15. Thanks Puma52 for the pictures. I am attaching pics of mine. Please excuse the messy work area. I had to do some rearranging for the new melter. I am also showing a pic of it in regards to the turkey fryer that I am unsure if I will keep or sell at this point. Karen in MA
  16. Ok I have a stupid question for you. I found a great deal on a water jacket melter on craigs list. Brought it home and filled it with water so the open cup on the side was about half full then turned it on. I ran some errands as it had a bit to melt it came half filled with wax. When I got home the water was bubbling out the side opening onto the counter. Does it do this often? Have you had this happen? I am just afraid to run it with too little water. I have no clue what make or size it is as there are no part numbers other than the heating element. I believe it is a PW something as it has the removable heater core. It sits 18" H and is 20" W so I am thinking between 35 and 70 pounds. Last are you able to take a pic of the knob for me. Mine is missing so I am curious what it looks like and where to set it temp wise/ Thanks, Karen in MA
  17. I have also done it a light peach color. Karen in MA
  18. Good afternoon everyone, I recently acquired 150 pounds of CBL-141 Pillar Blend wax. I see it is a Candlewic product. I have done a search on the board but have not found much about it. Has anyone used this and if so can I have your opinions on it. Thank you, Karen in MA CBL-141 CBL-141 CBL-141
  19. I have used the Green Apple and it is great, my customers really like it. I also loved the Chilled Sangria. The Gingerbread is ok but I actually like the CS one better. Karen from MA
  20. Good morning, I know this has come up before but I am checking in to see if anyone has found a good sawdust smell? I was excited when I saw that Mikes had a scent called carpenter but when checking out the site I see that it is down and that there have been delivery problems with them. I know that Save on Scents has a sawdust but I have never tried any of their scents so I am leary of ordering. Thanks, Karen in MA
  21. The Kringle line of candles were started by the son of the original Yankee founder. Karen in MA
  22. Good morning everyone, I am on the look out for muslin bags wholesale in various sizes. I have already tried the regular sources of Papermart, Nashville Wraps and Store Supply but they do not have what I want and are priced too high. I am looking to have them custom printed or if not I will stamp them myself. Does anyone have a good inexpensive resource for bags? Also I hate to do this but if not does anyone have any experience with Alibaba in regards to ordering and the process but I hate to go outside the US for packaging. Thanks, Karen in MA
  23. Try buttercream crunch from Cajun. It is heavenly. Karen in MA
  24. We use Fed Ex for our wholesale clients. In pricing it out they were actually cheaper. At this time I do not ship freight as the cost jumped way up over the 150 lb mark. If the shipment is over the 150 I will ship it in several boxes and it almost always prices out cheaper. I also find that a box around 50 lbs seems more manageable to carry and tends to get damaged less. I have had two bad shipments with UPS so that also weighed in on how we shipped. I also have a few customers that do not actually get UPS delivery where they are and one that does not get USPS package delivery where they are located The customer had to dive to the post office to pick up the order.
