  1. Jealous of all of you cause we got nothing here in MA. Karen inMA
  2. Quick question for you all. I bought some of the clear tea lights from candle science to use up my extra wax with. I have the wax in plastic cups in zip lock bags right now. I don't want to have to descent them or loose the scent already in them. What is the best way to remelt the wax? I am thinking just hit it with a heat gun then pour in the tea lights.
  3. Hi all, I have two candles that were poured to use in layered candles. I had not had time to finish them and they have been sitting on a shelf. I went to do it last night and they have turned colors. They were a perfect chocolate brown scented with chocolate fudge. They have frosted and turned to almost look like jell if that makes sense. Do you thinkit is the brown color? I am using GB 444 and color blocks. Thanks, Karen in MA
  4. Hello all, I have a question for everyone about CC usage. I am doing a large show tomorrow in an area with poor cell service. I am concerned my square wont work. What do you suggest? I could take the chance and manually enter them later I think with PayPal, not sure if I can with square. Do you take the chance of it being declined, turn away the sale? And how do you record the card number, write it down or take a pic of it? Thanks, Karen in MA
  5. I am not sure where exactly to pose this question but how do you all store your candles during a show. Second how do you stay organized. I find when a customer asks for something that is not on display it is like an egg hunt trying to find the right scent in the right box and it looks messy with all these cardboard boxes behind the table. I would love any suggestions. Thanks, Karen
  6. Hello all i am looking into liability insurance and have narrowed it down to 3. Brower, indie beauty and the soap guild. Brower appears to be cheapest. Any thoughts and experiences would be appreciated. Thank you, Karen
  7. Thank you everyone for your replies. I keep watching the weather and hoping fro a change but looks like it is not going to happen. It is never in the 90's here in New England this early we usually have to wait till at least the end of July for that. I have an awning and bought sides for it to keep out the sun. We are on grass and on the Charles river so I am hoping for a breeze. I will be bringing lots of coolers with ice packs. I cannot have my car on site with me, we have to unload and park it else where. I am hoping for the best as I have about 300 candles ready to go and about 100 assorted bars of soap. I think my votives and tarts should be okay as they are made with a pillar blend. Karen
  8. So I have a huge event this weekend, 200k plus people expected and guess what the weather is supposed to be almost 90. Now what to do? I have candles made from 444 and cb 135 plus my tarts and votives from excel pb and millscreek pillar blend. I will be under an awning and on the water but I am starting to get nervous about how my candles will be affected. What do you all suggest or what has been your experience? After the almost snowy weekend we just had I was hoping for a nice 74 degree day. Thanks, Karen
  9. Good afternoon. I think I have searched and read every thread on here on embeds. I like to use lots of embeds in my candles but sometimes I run out while waiting on the mail for more. I would like to try and make some of my own as a spare but not sure what ax to use. I use 444 in my containers but have some ecosoya pb on the way. Do you think that would be hard enough? I have also used millscreek pillar wax, I want to try and stay with an all natural wax. I would love to hear your suggestions. Thank you Karen
  10. I currently use GB 444 for my candles and have made some melts and bark with it but I feel it is just too soft. I am looking for a wax I can use for both votives, tarts and clamshells. I want to stick with a natural blend, goes along with the soy. I bought some pillar blend from millscreek but before reordering I am looking for other suggestions. I am looking at the ky parasoy or the ecosoya pb. Thanks Karen
  11. I poured a 16 oz mason jar in lilac last night with a lavender color. It looked great last night but this morning it had horrible wet spots but not one big one just tons of little ones giving it a spotted like effect. I tried with a heat gun to pretty up the sides but now I have a huge white frost like patch on the candle and it looks horrible. I am using GFB 444. Any suggestions on what caused it and how to prevent it. I know I should not worry about the wet spots but they drive me nuts. I wait till nice and slushy under 100 degrees pour really slow and don't touch the jars for hours. My house was really warm last night so I don't think they cooled too fast. Thanks Karen
