  2. Those sound good! I just received an order from Scented Expressions and was pleasantly surprised with every oil I got from them OOB. I can't wait to get them in wax.
  3. Isn't Rattlesnake grass from Candle Wic? Unless Bittercreek has one too. I only have a few of their oils.
  4. I've ordered a few samples and can't quite remember which ones at the moment but I do think I liked what I ordered. I know this isn't much but I hope it helps!
  5. I ordered a sample pack from them yesterday. I'm excited to get them!
  6. Do they have a website? I googled them but can't find anything by that name.
  7. I am planning to try some of their oils! I was waiting on one to come back in stock. I can't remember the name though. (brain fart!) I was reading in their group where it's really good but it was out of stock. I'll check back and see if it's in yet. Everybody was raving about it!
  8. I've never made a pillar candle but I think like you said, paraffin is going to give you the truest color. I know if I have any soy in the mix at all that my dyes aren't as dark as I get with all paraffin. Have you tried 4625? It's a great pillar wax and you don't have to add anything to it.
  9. I was just about to comment on this too. My guess would be Just Scent. They have a great cotton candy and also a great blue cotton candy. Other FO's I like from her are: Snicker Doodle Absolutely Fabulous Cake-a very good coconut cake type scent in my opinion Birthday Cake Blonde Moment Buttery Gingerbread Caramel Cinnamon Latte Champagne Toast Coconut Milk and Lavender Country Berry Hotcakes Fluffy Towels Hazlenut marshamllow Fluff ORange Chiffon Cake Orange Dreamsicle Peppermint Meringue Pink Sugar Santa Baby Chestnuts and Brown Sugar Strawberry White Cake Serendipity Vanilla Patchouli These are some that I have and have tried. There are more but I can't think of what I have off hand.
  10. If I use clams I would mix this just like you're mixing. I'm not quite sure why your oils are weeping though. What temp are you adding them? I have had a couple that absolutely wouldn't mix, one being Jingle Bells from JS. I need to mix it at a much higher temp to get it to mix.
  11. There's a link in this section that has suppliers listed.
  12. There are a lot of great suppliers. What type scents do you like? For instance I don't like sugar cookie from Candle Wic but I love their sugared vanilla shortbread. I don't care for the pumpkin scents JS has but I love the pumpkin scents from other places. Nature's Gardens, Fragrance Buddy, Candle Science, Candle WIC, Studio, Bitter Creek North, Flaming Candle, Indiana Candle, Day Star, Lone Star, Virginia Candle Company, Aztec, Rustic Essential, Wholesale Supplies Plus, Keystone, and more all have some great FO's.
  13. So true! And things smell stronger to me in different places. I can't tell you how many times I poured something and thought it was a dud so I would give it to the ladies in the front office at work. Then I'd be walking down the hall and smell something good and I'd go in and ask them what they had going in their warmer and it would be a scent that I thought was a dud when I poured it!
  14. I love several of RE's oils. Barbershop is my absolute favorite men's fragrance and I don't like that type at all! This one is wonderful though. Toasted Marshmallow-love! I don't get any toasted notes but a great vanilla scent. Warm Vanilla Nutmeg-so good! Pumpkin Pie Spice-love it! Pumpkin Bread Autumn Spice Strawberry Musk Birthday Cake Christmas Bark Country Christmas Country Gift Shop Cuban Tobacco French Vanilla and Oak smells good OOB Glazed donut Grandma's cupboard-a good oatmeal cookie scent Key lime pie is the best I've found Red Lipstick Rose Milk smells really good and I don't like florals Rustic Lodge Santa's Ginger cafe Santa's Whiskers Southern Pecan Pie-love this one Sweet Potato Spice Vanilla butter fudge Vanilla lace Welcome Home Woolen Blanket-have never used this but it smells good OOB I have a few more but can't remember how they smell to me. These are the ones that I like and remember the scent.
  15. Each supplier has good scents and duds.
  16. Are you open to using other suppliers too? JS has some great oils but you will find other suppliers are just as good and even better with some of their FO's. Not trying to enable you or anything LOL!
  17. Hello from South East Texas here! Good to have you! You will love your new venture and obsession LOL! We are here to enable 😁, OOOPS, I mean help you in any way we can! I am newly retired myself as of December 18th and plan to make more candles instead of just wax melts and this is the place to be to learn!
  18. I have gotten great throw with para/soy and straight paraffin. I believe the strength of the oil is the biggest factor in throw, along with methods and warmer, place warmer is etc. I think 4786 is a great wax and use it. I mix it with 4625 for shapes and am planning to try it with 4794. I'm not sure why I haven't settled on any specific wax yet though LOL! Maybe one day I will. I honestly can't tell a difference in throw with any of the waxes or wax combinations I've tried as long as I use a good oil.
  19. You'll get a lot of different opinions. It depends on if you're planning to use molds for shapes or put it in clams. For beginners I think KY Para/Soy wax is great. You can make shapes and it also works well in clams too. You can also get it at Flaming Candle, Virginia, and Just Scent and probably a couple more. It contains about 50% soy so you'll need to let it cure for a few days. It's in granulated form which makes it easy to work with and it has a good throw. If you don't want to wait on a cure time then I'd go with all paraffin or a smaller amount of soy. For clams I use a mixture of 4625/6006 or 4625/4630. For shapes I like mixing 4625 and 4786 together. Another good wax to blend with either of those is 4794. I know this is confusing and probably too much information so I'd probably start out using the granular Para/Soy blend labeled tart wax. I actually love the way that wax performs. I just don't like waiting for it to cure cut it is a great wax.
  20. You can use 4786 for melts but you need to add some pillar wax to it. I actually have used it alone for shapes and it was fine. Surprisingly it holds its shape and doesn't smudge but I think it will hold up better with some pillar wax mixed in. I haven't used it alone for clams so I can't say how it does with those. I add FO at 180-185.
  21. That's good to know because I've still got some Powdered sugar from JS but have been hesitant to use it since I couldn't replace it. So the one from WSP is just called Sugared-FF? I'll have to look it up. Thank you for sharing!
  22. JS used to have a powdered sugar that I loved but she doesn't carry it anymore. She has powdered donuts now but I've never tried it so can't compare.
  23. I love Mrs. Claus Cookies from NG and also their Vanilla Bean which smells identical to my nose. Cinnamon Bun from NG is good. Copper Coconut from Aztec is good. I love NG Bayberry and Balsam and cedar, and country christmas which all have a pine smell to me. I haven't tried the rest you have listed from them.
  24. @wild4waxmelts, Bulk Apothecary and Studio Fragrance both carry Christmas Wish and it's the same scent as the one from JS. Nature's Fragrance also carries it but they're sold out. I noticed it's back in stock at JS though. I love that fragrance too.
